Boho Shops In The Uk Looking For A New Style

How to look/act like Effy Stonem from Skins?

I've been watching Skins (U.K.) on Netflix and I love it (I have to watch it on Netflix because I live in America and we don't have E4 here. There was an American version, but it got cancelled and I heard the U.K. version is much better.)!!

I don't like their lack of morals and constant smoking, drinking, and sex. When I say "act like Effy," I mean her ability to have all the guys running after her and f*** it attitude. I go to a small private school where if I did the things Effy did, I'd get kicked out. While I have friends, I'm not the most popular in school and I've never done much with boys. I'm also a good student with good grades and I don't drink or smoke.

Also, what makeup should I use to look like Effy? I don't want to be an exact copy of Effy because I still want to be my own person.

I love her clothing, too. I'm really into hipster/boho or preppy clothes, but I'd be willing to give Effy's rocker look a try. I have a uniform for school, but now's spring break and I have 2 weeks to experiment, plus weekends.

If you could kindly list some tips on her attitude, as well as websites to find her makeup and clothes, that'd be great.

Thank you.

What is the difference between Bohemian and Gypsy?

In modern terms both a merely styles of dress. It's okay to wear gypsy style skirts and accessories if your style is bohemian, which is usually shortened to boho and vice versa, it's not like the fashion police are going to lock you away or anything. if anything we are happy to see someone who doesn't dress like a clone of everyone else. At its core boho is about individuality and about being unique in the world. Gypsy skirts are a big part of the colourful boho look, as is anything slightly ethnic, brightly coloured, sparkling, beaded or embellished. Bohos also love beaded jewelry of bright carnival glass and natural materials. As far as the philosophy behind the style is concerned --not beliefs, that's far to dogmatic and heavy handed --boho is artistic, creative, a unique person who expresses her individuality and is probably earth centered, cares about the environment, and tris to make environmentally sound choices, doesn't carry a designer status symbol purse, and believes that you should judge a person by what's on the inside rather than what's on the outside. It's the modern idea of the hippie, only cleaner and without the pot smoking.

What do bottom-up fashion and top-down fashion mean?

Bottom-up is when a street wear style worn by a few in a trendy neighborhood or as part of a specific music or lifestyle scene is copied by higher end brands or by a big designer. Zandra Rhodes was famous for her Bottom-up punk collection in the mid 1970's inspred by visists to the thriving punk scene in London England and in modern times Hip Hop started as an underground music scene and style long before Gucci and Prada began making tear away pants and logo t-shirts

Top Down is when a high level Couture collection of dresses costing ten of thousands of dollars is re-interpreted for Ready to wear and mass market clothes found in any and all malls. Boho is a good example -it stared in the mid 1990's with collections by LaCroix, Gauthier, and Galliano. By the late 90's early 00's it was in high fashion shops and some style savvy early adopters were wearing boho and hippy inspired clothes. Now Boho is everywhere from high fashion to Old Navy and Target. Other notable top-down was Dior's pastel goth from over 10 years ago. Five years after the original collection skulls adorned everything, from men's wear to baby clothes.
