Book About A Girl Who Loves The Beatles

SURVEY: for Beatles fans..? ;D?

I'd die to meet any of The Beatles also <3 <3

1. Who is your favorite Beatle?
Ringo. He's so humble, and during the Let it Be album, while the others were arguing, Ringo was just having a good time with his band mates. But I love each of The Beatles in different ways :)

2. What is your favorite Beatle song?
This is so hard to choose! Right now, probably "Fool on the Hill". It's just one of those songs that you can listen to on a long car ride while you're staring at the window. It just makes you think.

3. Who is your favorite SOLO Beatle (music wise)?
So hard....probably Paul. He has so many great hits. My favorite by him is probaby "Uncle Albert"

4. What is your favorite Solo Beatle Song?
Now this goes to John Lennon. My favorite is "Imagine". Such a great song, with lyrics that make you think really deeply. He surely was a great musician with a great cause.

5. What is your favorite Beatle movie?
A Hard Day's Night. I could go ON and ON and ON naming off the funniest quotes from that movie!

6. What is your favorite Beatle album?
So hard to choose! Probably Revolver. I could listen to this album all the way through 100 times without getting bored at all :)

7. What is your favorite Beatle Picture?
http://media.photobucket.com/image/cutti...
I love this! Poor Paulie! :)

8. Have the Beatles influenced you in any way?
They influence me so much! I was thinking about this the other day, but I don't know who I would be if I didn't like the Beatles. I'd probably be a sad angry person, because I listen to their songs to make me cheer up. Because of them, I play guitar, and I learned piano. They are truly amazing!

9. Who was your favorite Beatle girl/wife?
Linda McCartney. I just think her and Paul were truly in love and I wish she was still alive :(

10. Which Beatle inspires you the most?
Probably Paul. His style, his charm, everything! It just inspires me to write my own music! He's such an amazing musician with a great heart!

Thanks for posting this survery! I loved it :)

What is your opinion of the Beatles?

They’re overrated. My dad loved the Beatles growing up, and he brought that love of British & US rock with him when he moved to the US. When I was 12, I “discovered” the Beatles on my own, and by the time I was 14, it had turned into full-blown Beatles love. I listened to every album and most of the songs again and again. My fascination with the Beatles has died down since my teens, but I continued liking and respecting the Beatles well into my adult years. But in the last few years, my interest in the Beatles has been mostly limited to some late solo songs - like Lennon’s “Imagine.”I feel very closely connected to the Beatles, and their whole vibe - British, rockstar, irreverent, creative, ground-breaking, artsy, psychedelic, and melody/lyrics-oriented. I think I get UK culture of today - the very indie, punk-rock-oriented vibe and style. I understand Keira Knightly, Alexa Chung, Emma Watson, Kate Moss, and other celebs/UK institutions in ways that people not so into the Beatles/Brit Rock wouldn’t understand. But like so many things, the Beatles still seems like an overly-worshipped, overly-regarded icon of Western culture. Even the Mirriam-Webster Dictionary gives the Beatles as one example of an “icon” - “an object of extreme or uncritical devotion”: Thesaurus results for ICONIt’s like you’re “supposed” to like the Beatles. I’ve listened to so many Beatles songs and albums so many times - they’re almost vomit-inducing now. I’m sure all lists by critics will rate the Beatles as one of the best things ever - the best thing since sliced bread. They’re up there with, say, Kant or Proust or Fellini or whatever you’re supposed to worship in Western culture. I mean, Beatles were very good, talented, and innovative - but they still represent an over-indulging of four dudes from Liverpool. I mean, would they have become as famous if they weren’t British or Western? No, no, and no.The West has too many “canons,” and the Beatles is but one of them. The Beatles is like Harvard, or the English language, or unicorns - you’re supposed to like them, people all over the world like them, their reputation outweighs what they really are. People should really look further than the canons. There are some things in the world, like the Beatles, that are good, but their popularity and reputation really seems more excessive than it should be.

Im being made fun of just because I like The Beatles?

Ok, so Im in 8th grade (13 y/o) and Im a girl, and Im madly in LOVE with The Beatles, they're like family to me. Last christmas (2011) I got an iPod touch, so I put every single album on it, which took really long to do so. And since I walk home from school everyday, I take my ipod to listen to some music, because it takes 15-20 mins to get to my house. And every time I get my ipod out, these chavs from my school run up and snatch it out of my hand, and they just laugh right in my face, saying how ridiculous The Beatles are, and that I should wake up and join the real world. I only have 3 friends who are really really close, they like The Beatles aswell, although they listen to other music most of the time, and theres nothing wrong with that. But theres these 2 girls who I use to be friends with but never hang out. When they found out I like The Beatles, they copied me. 1 of them even got a John Lennon book. I am seriously p***ed off by them. They dont even know their names. And they said they have The Beatles on their ipods and when they showed me them, there where only like 5 songs on it. They where really well known song like Hey Jude, Drive My Car etc. And Im tired of being called a "hippie or "flower girl" in a disrespective way. And right now my hairstyle is like John Lennons hair in the 'Imagine' video. I dont mind it, infact I like it, but someone just has to look at me ar at a creepy way and just say the word "hippie". This 1 girls came up to one day and whispered in my ear "I hope you and your beatles will die"
"Oh but wait, your stupid hippie idol Lennon is already dead". And just asked the teacher if I could go to the restroom, and I stayed there for a good 10 minutes and sobed in there.
I know its long and boring but is there anyone else being bullied for liking the beatles or any other band/group or solo artist.

Does anyone else think the Beatles are overrated?

I agree with you Mewzann....
They were this iconic band everyone worships, but during the 60s, were a 'boy band'. girls totally dug them, and screamed just like the girls did for Blink and NSYNC.

They wrote catchy tunes, but to me, that's where it ends. If I was to meet a Beatle, I would honestly say that I respect you as a musician, but I dislike the Beatles. Simple as that. I don't care that everyone on here loves them, but there are far more important bands to me that influenced MY bands such as The Clash.

Who publishes a Beatles songbook with the most accurate guitar chords/positions?

“The Beatles, Complete Scores,” Hal Leonard. ISBN 0–7935–1832–6, Copyright 1989, 1993.This is the definitive book on every song written and recorded by the Beatles. Don’t bother with anything else. This book includes the words, music, score (all instruments) and tablature (for lead guitar).

Is anyone else disturbed by this lyric in "Getting Better" by The Beatles?

"'Getting Better' proved an interesting example of how they curbed each other's excesses when they worked together. The optimism of Paul's chorus, where everything is improving because love, is counterbalanced by John's confession that he was once a schoolboy rebel, an angry young man and a wife beater. When Paul sings that things are getting better all the time, John chimes in with 'it couldn't get more worse'.
Asked about the song years later, John admitted it referred to his aggressive tendencies, "I sincerely believe in love and peace. I am a violent man who has learner not to be violent and regret his violence."

* I took this from a book I own: A Hard Day's Write: The Stories Behind Every Beatles Song by Steve Turner *

I'm not really disturbed by that line, I've always loved the lines that follow: "man, I was mean but I'm changing my scene, and I'm doing the best that I can." I think that the whole part about the wife beating is an essential bit about how much things are truly getting better.
