Book recommendations?
I haven't learned anything from my 10th grade English Honors teacher this year but I'm in the process of preparing for my SATs. For example, we spent a month on Frankenstein when I finished it in a day. Taking it upon myself to learn, I've decided to read (and comprehend) alot of books this summer to improve my writing and vocabulary, an endeavor I had unfortunately forsaken after entering high school. But instead of me going to the library and randomly choosing a book, can you guys recommend any high-leveled and sophisticated books? Intense vocabulary and complex plots would be appreciated.
Book Recommendations?
I want to read the most absurd book. I don't necessarily care if it's a great work of fiction but more an interest to find the most bizarre book out there. I'm looking for a story however, not the likes of Codex Seraphinianus please :D So far the top two is: Knives Taste Better Than Spoons by Harry South The Naked Lunch by William Burroughs I read the latter first as it seemed to pop up everywhere in reccomendations on forums online. I found it a compelling read despite it's odd method of storytelling (The film is alright, also) Knives Taste Better Than Spoons is an unfathomably strange story but a resounding metaphor for addiction, greed and its place in all humans. It mocks just about everyone with it's purposefully misanthropic and immature "humour" but in reality it's subject of ridicule is no one but the ridicule-r If anyone has any other books as odd as these two that aren't well known as I have read a lot of surreal/odd books, then please drop a line! Equally if you haven't read these two books and love weird **** then check them out!
SHSAT Prep Books Recommendations?
from what i've heard people can just use barron's and pass the test....... kaplan-do it for the math section its way better than barrons (though barron's verbal is the best) princeton- u probably cant find a cheap one,i managed to get one and its strategies are very good, pratice isnt the best but just do it arco- for extra practice when you finish all the books,it isnt very challenging for the most part but just do it for practice New York Academics- they are great practice tests u can order them at shop.tutornewyorkcity.com for $12 Also theres shsat study secrets but that sucks and does nothing(doesnt even have a test in it) and learning express is way too easy and has a ton of typos, DO NOT GET IT Hope this helped!

Magic School Books Recommendations?
Ever since Harry Potter, I wanted to read books about a teenager going to a magic school filled with vampires and werewolves,etc. Unfortunately I had a very hard time, the only one I've found that came close didn't have wands and magic. Any recommendations??? As long as it's a book with a teenager mingling with vampires or elves or fairies and magic, I'm game.
