Bottles Of Perfume Best Place To Keep Them

What do you do with old perfume bottles?

they're such a shame to throw away, but to be honest there's little use for them once the perfume is gone. I have several perfume bottles that are gorgeous {like Vera Wang's princess..it's a beautiful bottle in the shape of a heart with a crown on top} but I have nothing to do with them.

poll: what do you do with old perfume bottles? just throw them away?

Leaking perfume bottle.?

Buy an empty perfume bottle. Some of them are very attractive. I think you can find them in department stores in the bath department or possibly in cosmetics or perfumes.

Is it safe to keep the perfume bottle in the car and under the sunlight?

It's an absolute safe way to ruin your fragrance!Cologne should be stored like wine, in a cool and dark place, away from direct sunlight and humidity.High heat can cause evaporation which isn't good and combined with exposure to sunlight can cause the fragrance to turn and smell off. Citrus notes are the first to go bad.A well maintained and stored bottle of cologne can last for decades. Also remember to keep it capped, and preferably in its box and in an upright position. Some people go as far as to buy a wine cooler and actually keep them chilled. To me that's a bit much, unless you've got 10's of thousands of dollars in cologne.Personally I keep roughly 20-30 bottles for the season we're in, that I wear in a rotation, on top of my dresser. I keep the rest of my bottles on a shelf in my bedroom closet. When the next season comes and I need to rotate my selections, I just switch them out. They don't have to always be kept in a cool dark place, that's just preferable. And if you've had cologne in your car for a few months, you'll still be good, just don't make a habit out of it.And don't store them in the bathroom either, way too much moisture. If you keep them in your car in order to always have a fragrance nearby, you can always buy small decant bottles, from 2.5 all the way up to 60 ml, from Amazon and just make your own personal travel sprayers. They come in handy for touch-ups and are fairly easy to do.Hope my answer helps and remember to always smell well!!

I have 3 bottles of perfume that are almost empty, but i'm thinking of saving them for future reference?

I'm buying new perfumes, but I want to save just enough perfume in the bottle of the ones I have to remember in the future how they smell and compare them next time I consider buying a perfume.

does it sound like a good idea? or is there another way? I thought about maybe writing the name of the perfume on a small card and spraying it with the perfume, then putting the card in a ziplock bag, but i'm not sure if the smell would last. what do you think?

Can you legally "steal" a tester bottle of perfume?

You heard wrong. Tester bottles of perfume are supplied in order to induce a customer to try a perfume. Perfumes will interact differently on different people, and just because I love Joy when my best friend wears it, doesn't mean that I'll love the way it smells on me after 15 minutes.

Tester bottles also don't have zero value. The store buys them, and allows customers to use them in a reasonable fashion. In a similar vein, food samples are there for customers to SAMPLE, not to make a meal out of.

I lost the nozzle on my perfume bottle. Is there any way that I can fix or get the perfume out without having a jab at myself?

Yes.  I've had this happen, and there are two solutions.   You can either take a nozzle from a different perfume bottle (I rinse it first it rubbing alcohol and then soak it in hot water) and fit it over the stem,  or, you simply take your perfume bottle and turn it upside down on a hard surface.   Tap the bottle and exposed stem onto the surface (the same way you would if you were trying to jab it onto your skin).  The perfume will come out onto the the surface and you apply it to your wrists or fingers. You basically are applying it the same way you would any other type of perfume that comes in a non-spray bottle.I prefer the first method because I like misting my perfume rather than dabbing it.   I keep the nozzle from empty perfume bottles as a back up.  The stems on many bottles are the same size,  and are interchangeable. On the left is Daisy by Marc Jacobs.  On the right is Embrace by Vera Wang. Two totally different manufacturers, but the size of the nozzle is the same.

In hot weather does perfume evaporate out from the bottle?

Perfumes have volatile compounds in them and are continuously giving off fumes which give them their scent. Storing perfume in an open container or in a warm place with cause this evaporation to occur faster.

Basically, keep it in a cool place and keep the lid or stopper on whenever you aren't using it. If it is kept in a bottle with an atomizer (spray top), the loss will be miniscule and not worth worrying about.

My perfume bottle fell and broke. My whole room unbearably smells strong. How can I remove the odour?

I agree with Anagha’s solutions. You can also spritz some lemon in the air to nullify the fragrance. If perfume has been stuck on clothes/bed/carpet/furniture etc. use baking soda
