Boxoffice-wise Titanic Is A Billion Times Better Than Avatar Yet Why Was Avatar More Successful

How did the TITANIC make it to No.1 in the box office?

Because more people went to see it than any other movie. What needs to happen is the numbers need to be adjusted. It should not be on how much money a movie made rather, on how many tickets it sold. Back when the first Star Wars came out, tickets were $4 or so. Now tickets are $10 or more.

Why avatar made more money than Titanic ?

International-$1.8 billion Domestically-$550 million It only passed Titanic internationally, it has no passed it in America yet. It probably will though. Right now Avatar is number 2 in America. It hasn't got 2 billion yet but they said probably in the next couple weeks. Edit: It hasn't made over 600 million domestically yet. It will but not yet.

Basically zero. Avatar benefited from a couple things that will basically make surpassing it near impossible for the foreseeable future:It came out right as 3D films were taking off, and it was the only film at the time made purely with 3D in mind. Unlike most films that were converted to 3D in post-production, Avatar was filmed in 3D. It was made to be a purely visual feast that made use of 3D film technology to create something totally new that people hadn’t experienced before. People went and watched the film multiple times simply to experience this. Now, its novelty has worn off, so it’s not really anything special like it was originally. It remained in theatres a very long time (34 weeks). Even Star Wars: The Force Awakens, another film juggernaut, only stayed 24 weeks, a full 2.5 months less than Avatar.Avatar released in December, amid basically zero competition for a very long time.Infinity War simply won’t have anywhere near the staying power that Avatar did, because Infinity War doesn’t have the same kind of novelty that Avatar carried, and it’s releasing very close to a number of other big films (Deadpool 2, Solo: A Star Wars Story) that will heavily limit its backend ticket sales. People will go to see this film once or twice, and then wait for a home release, but Avatar was a film that demanded being seen in theatres to get the full experience of it, and many people went to see it 3, 4, or even more times, something that simply won’t happen for most viewers of Infinity War, because there’s just no need.

The only way it could be seen as a ‘failure’ is if you assumed it was going to beat Avatar/ cross 3 billion. Neither of which were ever reasonable goals for a movie coming out at the start of a packed movie season.Avatar, Titanic, and the Force Awakens all released in December and had weeks/ months without serious competition. They got to hang around in theaters for 6–9 months.Infinity War is just a month in and while it’s almost certainly going to get pushed off most screens within the next month with Incredibles 2, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, and Antman & The Wasp on the horizon, 2 of those films are from the same studio and 1 is in the same franchise. Heck, digital downloads were scheduled for July ( under 3 months from theater premiere ) and dvd/ blu-rays dropping just over 3 months. They never planned for it to hold for 6–9 months and given the changing times, it’s likely no film will ever get that sort of run ever again.

Let’s go through it shall we?The Story. This is one the most cliched storylines in a film that I’ve ever seen. The basic message in this film is that we should protect mother nature from the big bad evil humans who want to tear it down. There are no twists or turns that separate this from other “nature” films and its just a bland, boring mess. Fucking Ferngully: The Last Rainforest is better than this. The Characters. The characters are all cliched and one dimensional. They’re all just fucking stereotypes. We have the gritty war veteran, the scientist that wants to save nature and the big bad nilitary commander who doesn’t listen to shit. We’ve seen these characters before and its not the first or last time we’ll be seeing it. Their development was just as interesting as waiting in the DMV.Unmemorable. I can’t remember any of the quotes uttered or even the characters names in this film. They’re all just forgettable and boring.One-Sided. In this film’s logic, humans=bad and characters who support nature=good. Why not paint both sides in shades of grey? Maybe show the suffering the humans had to go through in their old planet and how desperate they are to care for their sick and needy that only the navi planet can sustain them. Show how the navi can also do morally questionable things like using disease and plagues against the humans. But no. Apparently the audience is too stupid to figure out which side is which.Yes. The special effects and tecnhology Cameron used were amazing for 2009. I even thought the creature designs were really creative and inventive. But good special effects isn’t enough to make a movie good, espcially when you have all these problems.

Well it depends, everyone has an opinion. A lot of people just don’t like Marvel films and a lot of don’t like Avatar. So which movie is expected to be better in terms of the story line OR be better in the box office??I would say Avengers 4, cause everyone who saw Avengers 3, especially the ending, Captain America’s last role in MArvels, how they actually defeated Thanos and more … makes everyone wonder, want to see Avengers 4 so badly, so that’s easily over $1.5 billion already. Avatar 2 on the other hand, people didn’t talk much about Avatar’s story as much as they did for it’s visual effects, how stunning it was to make people to watch Avatar several times. But as they say ‘’TIMING IS EVERYTHING’’ Avatar came out a time when 3D wasn’t really used or tested, and when it did, Avatar brought it to another level that no one didn’t expect, made so much money just on that. Remember at one point, Titanic directed by Cameron was the highest grossing film of all-time (1997–2009) until Avatar also directed by Cameron came out and surpassed it in 2009, it’s at 9 years now since it took the lead, who knows what Cameron can bring to the table with Avatar 2, who knows that why he waited years to make Avatar 2. People have to take that into consideration.I do expect both movies to do very great and make a lot of money, i just think Avengers 4 will do better.
