Braces W/rubber Bands When Will My Teeth Start To Move

I'm wearing 13 rubber bands to try to get my teeth to move by my appointment tomorrow will that work?

I am cringing just thinking about what you said. Please donot do it. I know there was a video this young girl made that went viral on how she used rubber bands to straighten her teeth. If only life was that easy! Trust your orthodontist. Your teeth are/will be in good hands.Just out of curiosity, why do you want to move your teeth a day before you are seeing a Dentist?

Loose teeth from rubber bands for braces?

Im getting my braces off on Thursday but I noticed today that on the one side of my mouth two of my top teeth are really loose. When i was brushing my teeth i bit down and i noticed the two teeth moving up and down and just looked really loose. i have two triangles on each side of my mouth and a box on the front until i get them off. I dont know if it has anything to do with it but i have the bad habit of bitting my nails and today when i did on one of the teeth that are loose it hurt and i automatically noticed it. Now that one and the one before it is loose. I was wondering if this is just normal from the rubber bands and/or if it will just tighten up again by itself

Do you sleep with rubber bands on your braces?

Yes, you wear them when you go to sleep.
I had braces when I was 11, and I remember that my orthodontist said to wear it ESPECIALLY during sleep because when you're asleep, you'll be asleep for HOURS and you won't pick on it, you won't play with it, and it won't snap - but be careful, when you yawn in the morning, you might accidentally snap it! So be careful when yawning (and laughing!) So it really fixes your overbite - or underbite - MUCH FASTER.

Braces : How long will it take for rubber bands to pull tooth down ?

Ok so i have had rubber bands now for about 3 weeks i think to pull my canine teeth down. Heres the thing though, my left canine tooth came down literary like 4 days after wearing the bands but my right side is taking ages. Its coming down but very very very slowly. So how long do you think it will take for it to be completely down (how many months)? Also, since my left canine is down, my overjet is getting fixed but only on my left side so now my top row of teeth is like slanted down to one side. it looks really stupid xD

Do you sleep with rubber bands on your braces?

i just got them today and they told me to wear them so i can keep my jaw allignment set
do you HAVE to wear them especially when you go to sleep? like what if you just like skip a night and wear it all the time? except for just 1 night like is it mandatory or else your jaw will shift back or something like that

MY rubberbands and braces hurt !!!!!!!?

yes, its normal! i went through this myself. the rubber bands & braces are forcing your teeth to move and thats no easy task since your teeth have very deep roots. its basically like trying to move a tree over a few inches- its going to affect the ground (dirt, roots, grass) around the tree. such as your jaw & ears are being affected now. This tension in the jaw is what leads to your migraines and earaches. Your jaw actually attaches all the way up by the ear.

to ease the pain, try drinking water with ice. the cold will help the swelling and also numb the nerves (your teeth have & are attached to very big nerves in the gums, thats why it hurts). also, take something like IB Profin to stop the inflammation (with your parents permission!) and my favorite way to ease the pain - pull! i know it sounds crazy but the faster your teeth move, the faster the pain will subside. Now i am NOT saying you should pull your teeth out or even pull to the point of damage. but if you are in immense pain, take the rubber band and gently pull it a little more. you will feel a couple seconds of even more intense pain but it will result in feeling a lot less pain afterwards.

Why do rubber bands on braces hurt so bad?

Most likely this is due to the teeth and jaw being pulled on by the rubber bands which puts pressure on nerve ends in the teeth which causes pain. But don't worry, it only lasts about a week or so. The worst part, in my experience, is those darn spacers!

I have to wear rubber bands along with braces... ?

i had braces for 3 years and i also had to wear rubber bands for the same reason, and i say yes wear your bands all the time night and day, i know it's super annoying and your sometimes the bands cut into your cheeks but you'll get your braces off sooner (I) ^ ; and now thar i have them off i love not having a metal mouth

p.s
if your get cuts on your cheeks buy cotton balls roll them up and put them on your cheek with the bands on it works though i wouldn't suggest going in public like so.

p.s.p.s
this is off a parent website ,but it's very helpful

I have noticed that some children have rubber bands in their braces. What do the rubber bands do?

The rubber bands are used to move teeth forward or back in your child's mouth. For example, they could be used to move your child's lower teeth forward or back, to move a tooth that is far our of alignment, or to close a space in your child's mouth. The rubber bands are often used in the final stages of the orthodontic treatment

How often should my child change their rubber bands?

Orthodontic rubber bands break after they have been chewed a few times. Usually, the rubber bands snap when the child opens their mouth, with painful results. The only way to avoid the pain is for your child to change their rubber bands frequently. We recommend that orthodontic patients take off their rubber bands before each meal and put in new ones after they are done eating. It also is helpful for your child to change the rubber bands before the child goes to bed.

What happens if my child leaves off their rubber bands?

The orthodontic treatment will take up to a year longer and be more painful.

What if I don't wear my rubber bands on my braces 24/7?

First, in order to answer your question, we need to clarify what you mean by "rubber bands". Do you mean the ones that connect the top jaw to the bottom jaw? Or the ones that are normally seen on braces (the ones that hold the wire in place)? Well...
Let's talk about the connecting the top jaw to the bottom jaw rubber bands first.
These rubber bands DON'T have to been worn 24/7 (as my orthadontist said). It's better if you wear it more often, since the process will be much faster, but it's not required (to be worn all day and all night). However, you MUST put it in every night before you go to bed, that is a requirement. So according to your "17 hour" note, for these rubber bands, this would be good enough. These rubber bands are so that your teeth will match together the way they're supposed to, since when you have braces, your teeth shift and the alignment will be off.
Now, the rubber bands that hold the wire in place.
First of all, since you go to school, I'm assuming that many other kids also have braces. In that case, you don't have to be worried that it might look bad on you, everyone, or most everyone had/still has braces. Now, for these rubber bands, there's are reason that your orthodontist said that your teeth aren't moving fast enough, possibly due to the fact that you don't wear your rubber bands often enough. These rubber bands, once again, hold the wire in place. The wire does the pulling of your teeth, so without the rubber bands, you probably don't feel a tightness. This tightness means that your teeth are being pulled together. Therefore, without the rubber bands, your teeth aren't moving during the day, which will, after a while, add up to your conclusion, your teeth aren't moving as fast as they should.
You mentioned that you've had the rubber bands since June of last year? Assuming that you're talking about the rubber bands that hold the wire in place, if you want to get your braces off sooner, I highly recommend you wear them, even to school.
However, if it is the rubber bands that connect your upper and lower jaw, then I'm not sure why your teeth aren't moving fast enough (I guess that depends on yourself.)
I hope this helped.
