Breathe And Cough Problem I Need Urgent Help

I have breathing problem since 50 days, what's the reason?

As a nurse, this is not enough information! Do you have a history of pulmonary problems? Asthma, COPD, emphysema, PEs, sleep apnea, or emphysema? Are you short of breath just sitting or on exertion. Do you wake up in the night unable to catch your breath? Can you lay flat? Do you snore? Do you feel rested upon waking? Do you smoke cigarettes? Does anyone around you smoke? Do you smoke marijuana? Cough….dry or productive? Is there any blood in your sputum is it pink and frothy? Have you had a TB test? Were you in another country? Have you been near chickens? Have you been exposed to influenza? Did you get a flu vaccine or pneumonia vaccine? How old are you? Do you have any cardiac diagnoses? Congestive heart failure? Any swelling in your legs or abdomen? What’s your EF? Have you had an EKG, an echo, stress test, bubble study, or TEE? You need to be evaluated and have a chest X-ray at a minimum. Do you understand that you should see a doctor and be properly diagnosed? A generic query like this cannot be answered without proper testing and an examination. Call your PCP, go to an urgent care, or go to an ER!

Will a breathing treatment help a cough?

Depends on the cause of the cough and what you mean by “breathing treatment”. There are many breathing protocols that can help a cough caused by something like fairly innocuous like post-nasal drip, but again, it depends entirely on what’s causing the cough.

What are the effects of breathing in clorox? (This is urgent, help!)

Michael, thanks for the A2A. I am no expert. But I can reassure you that if you are not coughing up blood, such exposure is not likely to kill you. Contact a doctor or poison control center immediately. And even if you are coughing up blood, you can almost certainly recover from treatment. People often survive far worse exposure than you appear to have gotten, based on your symptoms. On one hand, the body has amazing healing power. You are likely to recover over time.On the other hand, irritation can become scar tissue and scar tissue can become infected, leading to serious complications. It would be very good to get an eye checkup, an ENT (ear, nose, throat) checkup, and, if coughing or other breathing problems continue, or develop, a respiratory checkup. Do tell each of these doctors what happened, so they know what to look for.Avoid irritants to the eyes and respiratory system in the future. If doctors say a persistent problem has developed, or if you feel one has, do not limit yourself to Western medical solutions. They are good, but there are also a lot of gentle holistic solutions than can help, as well. Please note: This is not medical advice and not a substitute for medical advice. As noted, seek proper medical attention.

Breathing problems - chest feels restrained?

I've never really experienced any breathing problems, and none of my relatives have asthma or anything.
Recently I've found that I can't breathe deep enough (if that makes sense) and I've been coughing mucus up too. My chest feels restrained and when I try to breathe deeply it feels like it gets cut off quicker.

I know that I should go to the doctors but I want to know what it COULD be before going to the doctors.

Also, I don't smoke or drink (I'm only 14!) and I eat somewhat healthily, I don't do as much exercise as I should but I do try. My mum smokes (even though I tell her constantly that she should stop!), though she mostly smokes outside. Is this the cause?

Thanks in advance.

Lung hurts when I breathe.?

A couple days ago I started getting a cough, and have a had a bit of a cold. Then yesterday When I would breathe in deeply it would hurt my lung. I can breathe normally but if I take a deep breath it hurts. It feels like there is too much air in my lung, and it's a bit of a sharp pain. Also my my back hurts where my lung is when I stretch. I have been smoking for a year.

Help!! My dog can't breathe sometimes!?

What breed is your dog?

Some dogs have tracheal problems and will do a "backwards sneeze".. it sounds almost like a snort and they may do it randomly or when they get excited. Its more common in Pomeranians, Yorkies, ShihTzus, and Pekingese. A lot of shorter-muzzled breeds get it.

Can eating cough drops help run miles better?

I run a timed mile at school every single Tuesday. My teachers require girls to run a mile under 8:30 ( 8 minutes and 30 seconds ). If it doesn't happen for a majority of the class then we'll have to rerun the mile the next day, and of course we don't want that. So, I was wondering if cough drops would help me breath better while running or not. Please answer as soon as possible as I will need to run tomorrow morning.

I get a really bad asthma cough, and Albuterol doesn't help at all. I keep telling my doctor, and she keeps saying Albuterol should help. What else might help?

I have asthma that is not helped with a rescue inhaler, either Xopenex or Albuterol. It's really important to work with a pulmonary doctor who has the equipment to do pulmonary function tests. What slightly improves my breathing when it's really rocky is Albuterol delivered in a nebulizer; the nebulizer disperses finer drops of the solution than an inhaler which I think is hit or miss in making the journey to where it's needed most.Once a year, my asthma gets wildly out of control and my pulmonary doctor has me keep a supply of prednisone 20 mg pills (I hate prednisone and the side effects so much, this is a last ditch effort for relief, it often helps smooth out the inflammation sufficiently that the nebulizer works). When nothing is working, you need to get to an emergency room. The respiratory treatments are amazingly powerful and may be dispensed over the course of an hour and if needed more than one treatment.Asthma is better off being controlled, to avoid the exacerbations and learning what your pre-asthma warning signs are. Many people use a peak flow indicator and can tell a few days before an attack that they're getting one. It can by early treatment be mitigated from extremely horrible to simply awful but manageable. Some doctors prefer you to use something like Qvar (smaller particles than Advair) as a daily treatment: it's not a rescue medication but a long term thing.

Cough that wont go away and medicine dont help, should i be worried?

Any cough that persists this long is a worry; especially if you are starting to have chest pain. A person can have pneumonia or pleural inflammation or bronchitis without having any signs or symptoms of the cold or flu viruses....ie: sneezing, nasal congestion etc.
Be sure your cough medicine contains a supressant and not an expectorant. An expectorant will increase the cough.
You neglect to say whether this is a productive cough...meaning do you express mucus with this cough. If so cough into a kleenex and check the color. If it is anything other than white or clear, and especially if it is green or brownish or puss color you have some type of infection and you need antibiotics.
Buy a hepa filter for your bedroom and keep it on all the time. You will not make your parents quit smoking if they have not done so yet.
Take fluids with vitamin C in them such as citrus fruits or take a B C complex vitamin all winter. Warm tea and coffee or lemon may also help you.
If symptoms persist you really need to see a doctor. Hope you feel better.

Why does the ER immediately take you in when you have trouble breathing?

Because not being able to breathe is a life-threatening emergency and physicians like patients who stay alive. The process of determining who gets treated first is called “triage.” It’s not always a simple process. There are certain guidelines that the staff needs to follow. As was pointed out, someone with a broken finger can wait. In fact, can wait quite a long time if the break is not causing some kind of negative consequence such as the loss of circulation distal to the injury. In war and mass casualty scenarios, triage becomes much more difficult. Pain is not an emergency, so the person in pain who is crying the loudest isn’t necessarily the most critically injured. In fact, it’s a good sign since people who are don’t make a sound. Our natural tendency as humans is to help the most distressed ones ASAP. But we have to override that tendency in order to save lives. The Emergency Department is kind of a misnomer, since almost all cases that present there are not true emergencies or even that urgent. Patients misuse them for a lot of reasons, particularly easy accessibility and speed of treatment. We know that those with government insurance and those with good private insurance will use the ED like it was their medical home. All discharge instructions come with the admonishment to follow-up with their primary care provider. Yet those instructions are rarely followed.
