Broken Foot No Feeling In Toes

Should I be feeling numbness in my broken toe ?

Hello i broke my toe a week ago went to the emergency and all they did was tape me up , I recently started feeling my toe go numb and tingling , I wrapped it a couple times after to see if it was wrapped to tight but that's not the problem and my toe isn't purple just want to know if its normal ? I am freaking out cause this is my first broken bone and don't know what to expect , I don't have insurance at the moment so I would like to save myself a hospital bill if its nothing

How do you know if the bone in the foot’s toe is broken?

From swelling and flexibility

What does a broken toe feel like?

Breaking your toe...hmm let's see
depends on the toe
last year I was walking down the steps and as I was getting to the last step the cat got under my feet, I lost balance trying not to step on her and lets just say I did a little ballerina act on my toes...one problem
I am not a ballerina!!!

I heard my Big toe pop and excruciating pain shot through my foot
screaming and cursing I took off my sock to see that my big toe was turning more inward than the big toe on my other foot. While driving to the doc it began to swell and turn black and blue...and hurt too of course but I could still somewhat walk on it

if you broke your pinky toe than you wouldn't be able to stand on that foot it's on at all...something about the pinky toe controls your balance but I learned that when I broke my pinky toe before my big toe while chasing my baby bro around. My luck!!!

Can a broken foot feel tight?

Usually (but not always) the pain is so bad that you cant even walk.
Bruising or redness of the foot with a broken bone is common.
Ive never heard of tightness but they could have messed up the bone nd pushed it into a nother locking it in place. (very unlikly dont worry)

I broke my ankle and my foot in the cast is tingly like it is feeling like it is asleep?

Yes, you should call your doctor and explained to him what the signs and symptoms are. The symptoms you are describing are pretty much telling me that the cast is constricting your blood vessels. This may be a serious symptoms of compartment syndrome. Signs of compartment syndrome
* Severe pain
* Numbness or tingling
* Cold, pale, or blue-colored skin
* Difficulty moving the joint or fingers and toes below the affected area.
Call the doctor immediately if any of the following happen:
* The cast gets wet, damaged, or breaks.
* Skin or nails on the fingers or toes below the cast become discolored, such as blue or gray.
* Skin, fingers, or toes below the cast are numb, tingling, or cold.
* The swelling is more than before the cast was put on.
* Bleeding, drainage, or bad smells come from the cast.
* Severe or new pain occurs.
Don't hesitate to contact your doctor. This is for your health.

How can I tell if my pinky toe is broken?

On the outset, it’s impossible to tell if you’ve got a broken baby toe (pinky toe) just by assessing your case with the help you find online. Go to the nearest hospital/ clinic and meet a doctor. Explain your symptoms and have your foot x-rayed. That’s the only procedure to be sure if it’s a broken toe or not.Take my case: I had accidentally stubbed my toe to the wall the other night while going to the bathroom. There was mind boggling pain when it happened. But afterward (nearly 10 hrs later) - I only experienced mild, nearly non-existent pain and swelling, with absolutely no difficulty walking (except for a slight shift) or bearing weight upon the damaged toe. I was able to bend and buck my toe just fine. I was not entirely OK with the discomfort experienced but it wasn’t severe, or anything. I could walk, dance and go about my routine. It wasn’t until I paid a visit to an Orthopaedician/ had my foot x-rayed that an underlying fracture was discovered. The Doc traced the fracture line in the toe (on the x-ray) for me to see for myself. My experience is a testimony that you won’t always have the symptoms indicated online for a broken toe: throbbing, pain, swelling, broken nail shaft, discolored nail or bruised skin etc.I agree with Maya Deva Kniese. There is no better way to get this right than to visit an Orthopaedician. The sooner, the better. Good luck.

Broken toe isn't healing after 6 months.?

Good outlook for me... i broke my little toe 2 months ago and it still hurts. My range of movement has sloooooooooooooooooowly started returning, but it still hurts a lot if i bend it too far inward. Ice it in the evenings when you're home. rest it as much as you can. If you broke the toe in more than one place it is going to be more painful and take longer to heal. i'm guessing my break (i didn't go to the doc, i couldn't afford it - no health insurance) was not all the way through.. i was able to walk within a couple of days. but the pain is still very real... and i know it's a break because it feels sooooo weak if i bend it to pop my toe (i pop my toes all the time, but this one won't let me... it feels like i'm being stabbed if i try to bend this one), and it hurts badly. it feels like i hurt it all over again if i push it to a point where it isn't ready to go.

have you tried wearing a boot? a medical boot. that will keep you from re-injuring it. you can pick them up from any medical supply store. if you get a rx from your doc, insurance should pay for it. that is your best bet in healing it. it stabilizes the toe, and serves as a barrier incase your little one decides to walk on the top of your feet ;o) i'm really surprised the doctor hasn't done that already for you. please discuss this option with your doctor, or just go buy one out of pocket... this will give you your fastest recovery :o)

i'm so sorry you're still suffering with this pain! bless your heart, 6 months is a long time!

Why is my cat not feeling anything when I touch her broken leg, which is pinned by the veterinarian?

Your cat needs to go back to the vet for care. There may be some nerve damage, which may or may not be permanent. It appears the bandage may be on too tightly, which will force some edema) in the limb and cause numbness. The test for nerve function: press gently but firmly with your thumb to the space between the toes enough to slightly pinch the inner toes. An animal with some feeling will pull away. No response means full numbness. Have your vet rewrap that leg a little more loosely. It may have been fine at first, but with wound swelling, the circulation can be cut off or could be pressing on the nerve. Don't try to rewrap it yourself; in my opinion, there should be no charge for a simple rewrap. Removing the bandage can cause just as much damage as thin initial injury, as cat's skin is incredibly thin and easy to cut or tear; then you will have a different problem! It is possible that the animal sustained nerve damage in the initial injury or that in the process of resetting and pinning the leg, the vet may have nicked a nerve, which can take time to heal, if it recovers at all. If the limb is fully, permanently numb, then your decision for the cat changes. If a numb, dragging limb doesn't hinder the cat's mobility or health (i.e., sores from a dragged limb becoming infected), then leave the limb alone. If the non-feeling limb seems to hinder the cat or becomes injured, then removal will make life easier for the cat and you. A cat with three limbs does fine.Either way, your cat needs to go back to the vet for care.

Should I go to the doctor for a broken toe? Why or why not?

It depends on the damage, the severity of pain and pretty much if you think it’s worth finding out that all is alright with your injury. I think I am. I rely on my feet and I want them in good shape.I broke my toe a few years ago. It was the most painful experience of my life. A heavy and thick piece of glass (the edge) landed on and shattered my big toe. There was blood and I went into shock. I’d never broken a bone in my life.I asked someone to get me a shoe that I could wear and I used crutches to go to work the next day. I took a few ibuprofen for the pain, but shrugged off that a hurt toe could be anything serious. After a couple of days, at the insistence of colleagues I went to a foot doctor. That is when I found out I had sustained fractures of two toes and missed a nerve, I forget what it is called, by a HAIR. And had I caused damaged to that nerve I would have needed surgery. It cost me about a hundred dollars to find out that I was okay. And it was worth the peace of mind. As far as the shattered bones….I just had to wait for them to heal. There is nothing they can do for broken toes except wrap them.

Healed broken big toe - now causing pain across foot. Is this supposed to happen?

I broke my big toe (spiderweb fracture) seven weeks ago, and have been walking on it (properly, no crutches) for a week. (It healed in the usual 6 weeks). However I keep getting pain across my foot, now and again the big toe cramps, but the pain relates to my ankle and the area across the middle of the foot. Any suggestions?
