I hurt my nose, is it broken or just bruised?
It's possible you dislocated the septum, but I think it's probably more likely it's just cut and bruised nicely. If the septum had been displaced you'd notice a difference in how you breathed through it. Any time you cut or bump the face, or any part of it- you get a fair amount of swelling and bruising of tissue. The face is pretty well wired for blood supply and nerves, and they just don't take well to being mangled, bumped or bashed. It will heal faster if you don't meddle with it either. It usually takes a week or so for facial swelling to go away, and you won't know if there is going to be a permanent bump for a bit. I wouldn't expect it, but you never know. Just keep a band-aid on the cut, keep it clean, and watch where you run next time.
I hit my nose, is it broken?
Today, I was swimming in the pool and when I went to do a backflip I hit the bridge of my nose really hard on the bottom of the pool. My nose never bled, but it looks a little swollen and even hurts when I breathe out of my nose and I'll get a sharp pain here and there. It's causing me to also have a slight headache. Is it broken or just bruised? Please help, thanks!
Broken nose?
Yesterday at work I was hit in the nose and upper lip with a closed fist. I did not go to the doctor right away. I figured the soreness just was there because I was hit rather hard. Today my nose is very sore, swollen, and appears to be crooked. I went to a clinic. They did an x-ray and it did not show a break. The doctor said that since the nose is made up of cartlidge a break may not show. I am supposed to go back in a week and have it reevaluated. He said if it is still crooked I will have to go to a HENT doctor. I asked what they would do for it. He said that would depend on the doctor. What will my options be to straighten my nose and what kind of effect will that have? Can my nose truely be broken and not show on an x-ray?

I hit my nose really hard!!!?
I just hit my nose REALLY hard on the edge of my bookcase and it hurt reallllly bad but at first it wasnt swollen or anything and now its HUGE. The entire side I hit and the bridge of my nose blew up and theres a gigantic bump and my nose is soooo fat now. I already hated my nose to begin with but now its horrible. Will it stay like this forever?! how do I make the swelling go down? I don't have any real ice! Thanks!!!!!
How do you check if you have a broken your nose?
If the nose and/or bridge of the nose isn't straight but bent in any way, shape or form, it is broken. If it is broken, it will also bleed, a lot. You can look up your friends nose with the help of a flashlight to see if it is broken, also. Also, unless there are other factors involved, nose bridges generally only swell a lot if it is broken somehow.

If your nose gets hit and bleeds is it broken?
how long afterwards was it sore, 15-20 minutes? thats understandable. If it was still sore say 4 hours after it was either a really good whack, or something might be wrong. Try thinking back to when it happened, was there a noise also look in the mirror and is there swelling or does it look out of line is there a bump or lump that wasn't there before. If it is different to before i would probably go get it checked out. the nosebleed is fairly normal and is not purely an indicator of a broken nose. my brother and i get them every now and then and his nose is so sensitive that I'm pretty sure if you hit him in the face with a pillow it would bleed. Does your nose swell up when you hit it hard and still not be broken?
Abou two days ago I walked into a pole and hit my nose, it didn't bleed at all but it swelled up a little on one side and the top got a little bump it also got a bit red and bruised in those areas but it doesnt hurt that much. I want to know is it possible that my nose is not broken and will the swelling and bump go away?
Not at all.Most likely the pressure of the air coming out that normally comes out your nose will most likely be diverted to your mouth, as long as you dont try and hold the sneeze in.Even if you do, its really no harm, just might be painful. Most of the air goes out your mouth anyway.
