Bt Landline Phone Dialling Random Numbers

I keep getting calls from different random numbers, and my phone can't block calls from unknown numbers. What can I do about it?

First of all, if you are bothered with unknown calls ,you should not share your number unnecessarily with others. Having said that, sharing your number on internet(like on different websites), a public restaurant (collecting your opinion), or jst on your cv you have dropped randomly in some office could be problematic. You can keep a seperate number for this purpose. If your phone does not have blocking feature, you can probably have a seperate (might be a cheap one) mobile set and use that number for professional communication or just submit it for a public survey on internet.I have faced this situation a few years back. I had only one sim card and that is the number i generously shared everywhere. As a result of it, i had a bitter experience to deal with many of the undesired callers. Now i am keeping a seperate number for personal and public use.Another posibilty is that you can just share your email as a preferred way of communication instead of your phone number, if apossible . It might also be helpful in overcoming this problem to some extent.Hope it helps :)

How can phone numbers have 11 or more digits?

USA country code: 1International format of a USA phone number: +1 1234567890Meaning all USA phone numbers are actually 11 digits when dialed internationally. The USA only has a 1 digit country code because we invented the telephone and thus gave ourselves the number 1 country code. Other countries have country codes that are between 1 and 3 or 4 digits making the numbers 11 or more digits. Also, after the country code some other countries use telephone numbers which are different lengths than ours which allows for different amounts of unique phone numbers to be available.Another possibility for phone numbers with abornal lengths is a caller ID spoofing system. My friend has called me using a caller ID spoofing website (basically he called me from a completely fake phone number) which made his number show up as “(1) 1–123–456–7890” on my iphone.

Why are random people getting calls from my number even though I never make those calls and neither do they show in my call log? And how I do stop this?

This may be someone spoofing you, which is changing the caller ID their phone sends so that it's your number. The phone companies allow this; the legitimate use case is for a firm that owns a PBX (basically its own phone system) to set the caller ID to anything it wants, so e.g. returned calls all go to the same number. If the intent of the spoofing is to defraud whoever answers by pretending to be you, it's a crime. You can report it the FCC, see Spoofing and Caller ID .There is, or used to be, an odd attitude in the phone company (I know firsthand about AT&T) that the payer for a phone call gets to control the identifying information. So for caller ID, the person making the call pays, so they get to control the caller ID. ANI is a similar system that identifies the callers of 800 numbers (toll free numbers) to the companies they call. The callers cannot change their ANI information, the stated reason being it's the receiver who pays for the call.

How do you call someone if they have blocked your number?

I agree with the earlier answer. The person would have reasons for blocking you. Accept and respect their decision. However, if you still need to communicate, you can get in touch via email, physical letter etc. Do not stalk, however as in time to come you will regret the stalking.

Will my phone be hacked if I answer a call from an unknown number?

In 2018 I STRONGLY believe that the government HAS INDEED found a “backdoor” to access files & activity on your phone. But it seems that it is ONLY if you recieve the phantom call and you answer it.You will most likely here a very brief tone and the call will disconnect. They then have access to your phone until you run your security . Clean your cache completely and then reboot your phone .I can guarantee you that if you are a target for some reason. That within a day or two you will start recieving phantom calls again.Often times they are numbers that will look very familiar. Using your area code & your carriers suffix. So if your number is 618–234-xxxxThe phantom number will show up as 618–234-xxxx .Try calling it back if you dare. It will be a number that is not in service. Every time.Avoid these calls. Should you answer one or someone picks up your phone and answers it. Then clean it and reboot it immediately.Trust me.

What is the best way to block phishing calls in India?

Old school stuff worked for me. Even if you have true caller, it doesn't matter much. Some background to what I'm going to outline: My telco back in india is Vodafone and me and my family have been with them pretty much from back in the day of BPL, so we sort of get preferential treatment given the long customer relationship. My mother and father started getting similar calls back in 2012–2013, and every time we ended up blocking one number, they used to get a call from a new unknown number. Callers used to say there from CBI (Investigation agency, not the bank, what a joke), LIC, EPF Board (lolwut?) New India Assurance, etc and used to give similar pitches for account number details and all. The Vodafone guys helping us traced the calls and figured out that these are usually illegal call centers with terrestrial links outside india, that bounce calls off India located switching circuits, hence the mobile telco is at a loss since they don't control the said circuits. This went into situations where I either used to try to bore the callers, or they used to start abusing to no end when they realized that they aren't getting anywhere.Long story short, this is what we did: got a letter from the telco stating the issue and their inability to help. Went to the cops and booked a case against unknown people for violating provisions of the Telegraph Act (illegal and national security issue to bounce calls, guaranteed action), and sent an email to the TRAI greivance cell. Given the fact that this was under the telegraph act, it got some serious level attention and from what I learned 3 weeks later, some Givt agencies tracked these people and raided two places from where these calls were originating. They arrested and booked the call center owners, operators and shut down 7 or 8 illegal routing circuits. AFAIK, the calls have stopped and no recurrence yet :-) and the call center owners are contemplating a long hard look at reality from behind bars. Not saying a similar approach may work for you, but this is like a silver bullet solution

Dvla number, I need to call Swansea but I can only find their £1.50 a minute number ?

Calls to 03 numbers cost no more than a national rate call to an 01 or 02 number. They must also count towards any inclusive minutes in a phone contract in the same way as 01 and 02 calls.

These rules apply to calls from any type of line including mobile, BT, other fixed line or payphone.

The cost of calling 08 numbers can vary depending on your provider, but 03 numbers cost no more than a national call from any type of phone or provider.
