Built-in Microphone Not Working

Built in Microphone not working on Acer Aspire v5.?

Hello!
The problem could be two things that I know of...
For one, it could be the Microphone's driver is not compatible with Windows 8.1 (I too had some drivers that weren't)
The way you might be able to fix that is by bringing your mouse into the top or bottom right hand corner of the screen and clicking the search (magnifying glass) symbol, and typing in "Device Manager". Once you have that opened up, click the dropdown arrow next to "Audio Inputs and Outputs". Find the Microphone's driver and right click. Click on "Update Driver Software" and let it search for possible updates. If no updates are found, maybe I have plan B.
The other problem could be in the program you are using. For example, you may have to manually select the built in Microphone on Skype to make it register the sound. The way you would do this in Skype is to go to the "Tools" tab at the top and click "Options" in the dropdown menu. On the left-hand side, you should see "Audio Settings". Click that, and next to Microphone, you should see another dropdown menu. Click on that and select your built in Microphone's name.
If none of this helped, I wish you luck with fixing it!

Acer Aspire 5315 built in microphone not working. What shall I do?!?

Did it work before and has now stopped?

What operating system is this, a version of Windows perhaps?

If you have reinstalled Windows then you also have to download and install all the drivers. But I am guessing what you might have done now....

Have you just muted the microphone?
Have you checked in Control Panel, Sound?

Built in microphone on Toshiba Satellite L645D - S4056 not working.?

I noticed that today when I tried to use my microphone on skype, it said that my microphone was not working. When I tried to see the problem, it said my microphone was disconnected, though this is impossible because it's built in. Its not working with any other program either, so how can I fix this? Please help soon, because I need to use my microphone for school band assignments.

My built-in mic isn't working?

I keep trying to use my microphone but it doesn't register my voice. I checked everything, and it looks like it should be working perfectly. It's not muted or disabled. I go into vocaroo, say something, and the result is a silent recording. I try to talk on Omegle and no one can hear me. It does work with Skype and Tinychat though, for some reason. I allow the websites to access my mic but I still get nothing. Can anyone help me?

I need help

The microphone on my iMac 27" has stopped working. Will it be expensive to have it fixed?

First, you need to troubleshoot the question of whether your mic is not working because of the software configuration, or if it is actually a hardware problem. Because it’s far more common for the fault to be the software than it is for it to be hardware. The easiest way to check is to create a brand new user account on your computer. System Preferences > Users & Groups > (click the lock icon to make changes, enter your admin password) > click the “+” directly under “Login Options”.If the mic works for the newly-created user, then you have a software configuration problem. If the mic doesn’t work for the newly-created user, then it’s very likely (but still not 100% assured) that you have a hardware problem. And yes, if you have a hardware problem with the built-in mic on your iMac, and if your iMac is out of warranty (called AppleCare), then it will be expensive to get your mic fixed.Your better bet in that case would be to purchase a USB microphone, plug it in and use that instead of the built-in mic.

Why isn’t my earpiece’s in-built microphone working with my laptop?

Are there three or four contacts on the headsets 3.5mm jack?If the laptop has both a speaker/line and microphone socket, you need two separate 3 contact 3.5 mm jack's on the headset. If there is just the one jack, it's the four contact jack. There are unfortunately two separate standard families. The older was common on Nokia phones, not usable on your laptop, and then the Android (also used on Tizen) standard. These HTC Samsung etc headsets should work on your laptop. Some headsets have controlls on the cable. Don't rely on these working.
