Buying A Laptop But I Need Help

Need help- want to buy laptop with credit?

Go to a Best Buy or Fry's or some other store that sells Apple products. Have a sales person write up the purchase of your choice and talk about the credit situation.

You probably will not get a no-interest card, but maybe a deferred if you are lucky. You might have to kick in some cash out of pocket since you don't have a credit history. Usually a starter account has a very low limit to start off with. But unless you have verifiable income, you may not be able to get the card at all.

It would be better to go without a co-signer. And if you just can't swing the credit card option for a laptop, wait a little longer, accumulate the cash you need to buy it outright.

Then go to someplace like Target or Sears or Penney's or Lowe's and get an account started with them. Don't go crazy with the card, but buy something each month to keep an active balance. Pay it off on time every month. After six months you might ask to have your limit increased. A higher limit will help demonstrate your credit worthiness. Do NOT carry a balance month to month. The interest rates are outrages and real killers.

Good luck!

I need help buying a laptop with i5, 1-2gb graphics, 14" display and weight around 1.8kg with a Windows 8/8.1 OS. What are the suitable models available in India around 50000 INR?

I am engineering student…………..i have done full research on each and every laptop……………my suggestion would be -Go for atleast i5 7th gen , 8 Gb DDR4 Ram , NVIDIA 940mx graphic card for gaming( DDR3 is good but latest is GDDR5……it’s two times better than DDR3) never go AMD graphic cards for gaming, NVIDIA is wayyyyyyyy better than AMD . Based on all these configurations i would recommend these laptopsDell Vostro 5568 - It’s quite unpopular as inspiron series is more popular but i would recommend it because it comes with 2 Gb NVIDIA 940mx GDDR5 graphic card and it also packs a fingerprint sensor in it and it’s price is around 60K.Dell Insprion 15 5577 Gaming - It’s dell latest laptop , it’s bit costlier 73k , no problems if it’s in your budget , it has NVIDIA GTX 1050 4Gb GDDR5 graphic( 1050 is better than 940 mx ) and does not carries a fingerprint sensor.Asus R558UQ-DM701D - It’s the value for money laptop , it has i7 7th gen , 2 Gb NVIDIA 940mx DDR3 graphic card , if u don’t concern about gaming too much then buy this without any second thoughts , all others laptops in this price tag have i5 but it has i7 which is a great advantage. It can run all games GTA 5 , Watch Dogs 2 , Assassins Creed Unity etc. but in low settings as compared to other two laptops as it has DDR3 based graphic card. U can get it around 53K.P.S. - 1. Don’t go for acer it do sound cheapest but it’s service is poor and build by cheap quality materials.2. Asus is a good company like Dell, Lenovo , Hp. Motherboards , Graphic Card etc. are made by Asus and all other companies purchase them from Asus.

Will upgrading RAM help to speed up my laptop?

The single most effective upgrade for the money is adding RAM. It is important to get what your board is designed to run and you should have matching so-dimm’s. If you are not sure what kind you need, head on over to Crucial.com - DRAM, solid state drive (SSD) memory upgrades for Dell, Mac, Apple, HP, Compaq, Lenovo, Acer, ASUSThey have legally obtained the identification stings that identifies your motherboard, what type of memory, how many slots, and the maximum the board can handle per manufacurers specs. On the homepage, you can find the link to download the software. It's very small and non intrusive. Been using it for years and has not failed me yet, and I have worked on thousands of machines.I had an i3 some time back and yes they are a little dated, but it all depends on what you want to do. Standard surfing and business apps will run just fine but if you are doing more intensive things like Catia, you will absolutely need to upgrade.Final note, if you upgrade the RAM, and swap out the hard drive with a solid state, you will not believe it is the same machine. I'm talking 25 second boot times from a cold start, and that is being conservative. (You can also get SSD’s from Crucial). No, I don't work for them. Just passing along what works.

WhaT is The besT lapTop To buy?

The best laptop is NO laptop. So you really have to ask yourself if you really MUST have a laptop. Here's why. They cost more, break easy, often can't expand much except RAM, get stolen, and don't last as long as a desktop.

But since you asked... Toshiba or HP.

Here are some typical laptops from NewEgg.

Good luck and Happy Computing!

I´m going to buy an used laptop from amazon.com and I need advice.?

check the fine print(-prints)

If you are buying directly from Amazon.com - you should have little trouble, and if there is a problem, they should take it back and issue you a full refund - quickly.

However, there are lots of levels of sellers on Amazon..
There is directly buying from Amazon
.. buy from Amazon, fulfilled by 3rd party
.. buy from Amazon certified seller
... buy from Amazon Marketplace seller
(possibly more)

Amazon does stand behind your transaction, but if you start to deal with 3rd party sellers - the return/satisfaction policy gets convoluted.
- Amazon will help you , and will broker an agreement.. but only after you try to work it out with the seller first.
- email the seller with questions - using the amazon "my account" / seller inquiry for everything.
when the seller tells you to call, or email to another address off the amazon site - then your words can be twisted and Amazon will ( not have a record) (not be able to help enforce things).
- check BOTH the product page and the seller's merchant page.
they may have different shipping costs, different return policies, even different payment policies.
The vendor is going to make sure they don't lose money, and may charge you more for shipping than the item is worth.

If you buy direct from Amazon, or 'fulfilled by Amazon' - no worries. It may not work 100% of the time, but they will make good.
A purely 3rd party vendor can have all kinds of excuses. ( I have one that shipped my order in 3 separate boxes - charged me extra for that shipping, and 2 of the 3 boxes showed up more than 10 days after my order. After fighting for nearly 2 months, Amazon made them refund me for everything except the 1st shipment.)

.. buying by credit card is another protection. If the product is not what is promised or doesn't work as promised, you can have credit card company charge it back, too. This should be a last resort, but if you wait too long, it doesn't work out well.
Some credit cards also add extra warranty time - if that helps.

I am a student and I need financing to buy a laptop. It wasn’t covered by my education loan. How can I get it?

I see the concern there, you can use student EMI to buy your laptop as well. You can apply for EMI without having a credit card & if you’re a student then you can absolutely avail such an option. Quiklo is a Fintech company that provides students with all latest gadgets in EMI. This involves a simple process which begins after you connect with the staff their for assistance. After making the down payment of the desired product you can proceed to pay the remaining amount in installments at a nominal interest rates. Have a look at their products https://www.quiklo.com/

Can I use a Federal Pell Grant to buy a laptop?

Your Pell Grant would never have been disbursed directly from the Feds to you. If you received a check from the school, they would have first applied it to your student accout and, then, if you owed nothing, they would have cut you a check.

Technically, yes, Pell grant funds are meant to be used for educational expenses, but when your school creates your "Cost of Attendance" budget, it is allowed to allocate
"a reasonable amount... for the documented rental or purchase of a personal computer that the student will use for study for the enrollment period. For example, a computer purchased in the summer for use in the fall term may be included." If they have cut you a check, it means that your Financial Aid has not exceeded your educational expenses, so you're fine to use the check as you see fit.

I'm in need of a laptop for programming. I have no financial resources to buy it. Can anyone help me by giving me their used laptop?

I don't think this is the right place to ask such a question. You won't be helped much here. I would have given you my laptop but I use it 24 X 7 so I can't.Look for websites like Home or Schneller finden, was in Deiner Nähe ist.. You will see ads there. Talk to the owners and they might help you this if you find someone too generous there. Or, you can visit to some place where old stuff are being sold at very cheap rates. Hopefully, in the electronics section you can find some laptops at very cheap prices. But personally if you want a laptop for programming. You should go for such kind of laptops. It won't help.

I need a new PC. I am hesitating between a powerful gaming laptop or a desktop. What should I buy? And what specs should I look for?

If you plan a budget above 50K INR, then its dead sure your PC will just beat the ass of a 1 lakh laptop.....You see laptop manufacturers won't bother to say you that even the laptop 8th Gen Core i3 cannot compete with Pentium G4560 PC, and even the laptop graphics cards like the LAPTOP GTX 1050 ti 4 GB don’t even stand a chance in front of Desktop Gtx 1050 2 GB.....SO IF YOUR DAD HAS LOT OF MONEY TO WASTE... GO ON WITH LAPTOPBUT IF SERIOUS GAMING PERFORMANCE IS WHAT YOU DESIRE….THEN BUILD A PCPS- 1) You have to sacrifice mobility ( not like you can play heavy game outside at a park for long hours)2) You sacrifice electricity bill ( Even the graphics card of PC takes more juice than the entire laptop needs) but if bill is not your headacheThen plz heed my word…..Laptops are plain shit for gaming, they are good for office use and surfing internet. For gaming Desktops dominate the field.
