Buying Car For First Time

First time buy car?

Look at tires , exhaust (if been replaced with aftermarket just walk away as car has probably been beat. I look at allot of Honda cars they put loud exhaust on it and think its a racer)
No offense to the loud exhaust guy's

Check under hood for any leaks , or noises
With engine off check belt for cracks.
Take for ride listen for any bumping noises or other sounds.
Smooth shifting
Pulling to 1 side or brake problems ETC.

Overall body condition , If nice solid stock body . Bumpers not all beat up .
Check all lights work
If 5 speed go through the gears ( I just got one that shifted fine but I never got to 5 th and now I have it at home no 5th gear. )

If in good condition but a few small things wrong you can bargain down price so to get them fixed.

Buying a car for the 1st time.?

Craig's list is notorious for scams! Go to the dealership and check it out. Bring a mechanic with you or be prepared to take the car to a mechanic to have it checked out. If the "dealership" won't let you test drive it or have a mechanic look at it...it ain't a good deal. Ask to see the title...if they don't have it...it's a bad deal. Don't buy it sight unseen personally!!!
About down payments and paying monthly payments. That is up to you and them. First it is a used car, so the interest rates will be higher than a new car. And if you buy it...buy the car..not into payments!! Meaning get the bottom line of the car, get the interest rates and term, then buy it. Don't let them talk you into "you can afford $$$ a month! That is asking for trouble...The could add all sorts of things like warranties, window etching, insurance etc on the car that you don't want or need...and it will all be included in "what you can afford to pay" a month! Which will probably be a longer term too!!
And IF you decide to purchase the vehicle, make sure you read and re-read the contract you are signing. No blanks and exactly what you agreed to. Don't sign anything with blanks. Don't let them convince you to sign anything and they will fill it out later. Don't do a "spot" delivery", meaning take the car and then let them work out the financing. Get a loan, if needed, first. Make sure it is approved before you sign anything. Then and only then pick up the vehicle. You can also check your local banks and see what their interest rate on a 2002 Toyota Rav4 is. They can give you an estimate on what their interest rates are, depending on how much you are going to borrow. Keep that in mind when going into the "dealership". You may get a better interest rate from your bank than they offer you. And if they really low-ball the bank...beware...to me that is a big red flag!!

First time buying car?

I am looking to buy the Prius C Two (with cruising option). The price tag is $21,445 (before tax). The dealer said he is willing to sell it for $20,500 if I agree to pay him $200. That makes the total price $20,700 which would save me about $745. Anybody have any idea of what is going on ? is this a good deal ? what is the dealer trying to pull here ?

This is my first time buying car so I don't really have any clue of what is going on.

Buying a car for the first time- What to expect?

walk in. tell the guy/gal that walks up to you, you have cash and plan on paying in full. If he asks you whats your price range tell him "thats for me to know and you to find out". dont let him get you down, the economy is low and he is desperate. make sure that you find out when the dealership closes and go there like 30 mins before it does and take your time picking out a car. make sure you dont have a manager doing it, but a employee. pick out your car but say "only if it was XXXXX (insert price you want to buy it for). then if he says no im sorry i cant sell it to you for that much, just keep moving on and on forever untill he wants to go home, just keep adding i really like that one car......then he will eventually get it to you for that much... they really are a bunch of sharks. whatever you do dont tell them how much you have. seriously though, the people who are/were car salesmen are just looking after their own. I heard in florida at a dealership (dodge) they had by one get one free rams. lol. not kidding., especially in florida you can really ju them down to a little more than what they bought them for. you trade in your car and they give you like 1000 bucks for a beauty then turn around and sell it for 4300 thats crap. dont listen to anyone else. you cannot get more money out of a$$holes, if anything the salesperson is scared and want to impress you, how many people actually are buying cars now? barely any, so if you want a good priced vehicle do what i say. when i was buying in chicago i went to 4 dealerships, walked out of 3 of them..managers came running after me asking to negotiate because the sales person couldn't close the deal. finally got to saturn, and they were pretty good about my offer. gave it to me no problem.

First time buying a car from private party?

i do no longer motor vehicle what all people says, even whilst procuring from a broker (different than for that ridiculous 'certification' software which DOES garuntees a solid-working motor vehicle-albeit for a a lot bigger fee) there is not any garuntee that the motor vehicle could have had artwork performed on it that it desires. In different words, the outdated adage "shopper beware" nevertheless applies. the only element i be responsive to for a reality is that very own party sale is commonly extra artwork for you, however the advantages is customarily a far extra advantageous fee than a broker gives you. whether a broker gives you an more advantageous that average commerce in fee, they commonly make it back on the bloated fee of your 'new' motor vehicle or the bloated financing kit that they grant. you ought to assume that the margin on your new motor vehicle is going to be thousands extra effective than e book fee, by using fact autos bought as commerce-ins or from auctions can tend to be bought for decrease than they're nicely worth. In different words, you somewhat can no longer win. the perfect element to do is sell your motor vehicle privately, or in case you go with to commerce, shop your commerce out of negotiations until you have gotten a smart fee for the motor vehicle you go with to purchase. tell the broker you're advertising privately until you have each and all of the main substantial factors settled, and then grant your commerce. undergo in techniques, the broker is going to make money on the motor vehicle they sell to you, and then they'll make money on the motor vehicle you traded. the perfect you are able to shoot for is a few sort of equity. Take it from me, my 9,000 greenback used Accord has been given over 3 thousand in maintenance, and that i see used autos on the lot familiar with sparkling tires, yet waiting for exahust, brake, and different artwork possibly to be mandatory in a twelve months or so.

Buying car for the first time, could use some advice.?

things to look for...
before you even test drive it ask the owner if it has any problems that he knows of...take this into consideration when you make an offer
look for any rust or anything broken in the exterior of the car
when you turn it on make sure it doesnt take more than a second an half to turnover
then leave it running for a while and listen for any unusual noises or if any lights stay on
when u test drive it check everything from radio to a/c to see that it functions properly
while driving, if the car jerks when it changes gears, its a really bad sign as it may have transmission problems
again, listen to any unusual sounds
above all, make sure you like how it feels, somethness of steering, comfort etc

if you find any problems take away a few hundred from the asking price and offer something where u feel comfortable...
dont feel pressured to buy the car just because u came all the way to see it
if you do buy it, make sure you get the title, a bill of sale, and any paper work the car might need
you'll need to insure the car first, and the insurance will give you a paper that you take to the dmv and after filling out all the paper work and paying registration fees theyll give you the plate and registration and you can now drive your car
i recommend going with hondas or toyotas...probably a civic as they are cheap and good first cars
youll have no problem finding something for 5,000

Need help for buying a first time car!!?

I would go with Honda. Family is also loyal to the brand. Almost all of them have a Honda Odyssey, the other has a Honda Pilot, friends have a Civic and Prelude, other relatives have a CR-V. My dad used to have an Accord but had to sell it because of the growing family, he replaced it with a Pontiac minivan but plans on going back to Honda because the Pontiac is a bit unreliable, and the fact that he finds Honda vehicles easier to work on. I also own a Honda, it's a Civic. It's a 1998 model and it hasn't been to the shop for any major mechanical faults throughout it's lifetime!. Only for regular maintenance and lowering the springs. That being said, i would recommend a Honda Civic. I personally prefer the late 90s models because they are simple yet economical cars and i find them a bit sportier. You can get a decent one for under $6,000 so you can save your money!

Im buying a car.. its my first time buy... I need Help!!?

When looking for a great first car you want something small and unexciting.. slow uncool cars are the best,
if you pay cash for it you can then buy liability ONLY for it. Then you can dent it, not look after it etc it'l all fun and little pay.
Also, shop around as prices wildly differ, you can't assume the first insurer is the best.
This is where I go to: http://comparecheap-motoring-insurance.i...
and also try this: http://easily-cheapest-car-insurance.aut... for another set of quotes. It's free to do and there's no obligation to buy anything so time spent checking every price out is worth your time in gold.
hope I helped!
Best of luck.
