Cambridge University - Admission Test For Medicine

Can I get into Cambridge University?

Hello. My name is Luna Kanga and I am a high school senior in America. I am very interested in attending this university and I have a few questions. I plan to double major in Music Composition and in Law.
First off, here is a bit about myself. I have a 3.0 GPA. I am involved in very many extracurricular activities. I was the secretary for the world cultures club at my school. Also, I have been in the Minnesota Mock Trial for two years now. I am vice-president of the Junior Sate of America chapter at my school. Mock Trial is a competitive extracurricular activity which is sponsored by the Minnesota State Bar Association playing the witnesses and the attorneys; I am an attorney in it. This year, I and the other Mock Trial attorneys led our team to the state tournament where we received third place. Also, I have been in speech team for two years and have gotten first place in the majority of the tournaments including the Minnesota State Sections tournament and State level competition (in which I got 24th place) . I am also a member of the National Forensics League which is and educational honor society which was made to established to promote American high school students to participate in and become proficient in the debate, public speaking and interpretation- it is America’s oldest and largest high school speech and debate honor society. I speak three languages; English, Kikuyu, and Swahili. I have taken four years of French and am conversational at it. Furthermore, I play saxophone, guitar and I compose
Now, provided that I get at least a 2100 on the SAT or a 32 on the ACT, and that I get 5’s in at least 5 AP exams and 700’s on SAT subject exams, can i possibly get accepted into Cambridge?
Do they look at GPA? I know mine is low- this is the result of severe depression throughout my high school career.
Also, would having attended a university in America or the UK for one year- or attending an international foundation course at a University in the UK for one year- increase my chances?

How do I get accepted into Cambridge University?

Forget UCAS. Forget sending test scores. Forget recommendation letters. Those are just formalities and paperwork. What do you really need?Self-discipline.The difference between a Cambridge reject and a Cambridge admittance is hard-core self-discipline.Oxbridge doesn’t care abut your extracurricular activities. They want to be sure that you would succeed in Cambridge. The only indicator of that is how well you have done before applying to Cambridge.Did you take on a research project in high-school? “Good. Come to the interview at Cambridge and show us how much you know.”Did you win in Olympiads? “Good. Come to the interview at Cambridge and show us how much you know.”If you are very good at the subject you are applying, you would get admitted. That’s as simple as it can get.Simple, yet most people are not willing to work that hard.

Requirements for Harvard University admission?

I'm a freshman in high school, and I know that Ivy League schools don't even consider anyone unless they're valedictorian or salutatorian. I just had a few questions.

1. First thing's first: what are the academic/extracurricular requirements to be qualified to apply for Harvard University?

2. What's the minimum SAT/ACT score to be considered by Harvard (or any other Ivy League school)?

3. What should be put on a college admissions essay and application? (I know I can get help from a counselor, but I want some extra tips.)

4. If I want to major in Bio and go down the medical track, does having a lot of volunteer experience at a hospital (and internships in senior year,) help me?

5. Does participating in a LOT of clubs and activities at school look good on an application? (I'm planning on joining the lacrosse, tennis, and track team next year.)

6. Does being involved in sports and clubs from freshman year look better than starting later on in my high school years?

7. What is the minimum required GPA to be qualified for applying to Ivy League?

8. Does being in all Honors and AP help?

Only serious answers please. And I don't want to hear "Oh, you're only a freshman. You don't need to worry about that stuff yet." YES, I DO. I already have plenty of competition for the spot of valedictorian, and I don't need any discouraging comments.

Thanks:)

Requirements for Universities like Oxford or Cambridge?

I've checked the website but of course they have another language about the requirements. Is anyone out there familiar with these college admission requirements? Whats a good enough SAT score for them? AP Classes? Do they count? ACT? SAT 2 Subject Tests? Interview? GPA? Anything that will help me

How do I get an admission at Oxford Medical School as an Indian?

You need to really want to become a Dr. This sounds obvious, but I know several people who applied for the prestige and switched careers for a better life with more money. If you want money, a large house, a nice car and a weekend, do not study medicine. That out the way, if you are applying from the UK, you really need to have superb relevant GCSE grades and show real interest in the career. You then need to be studying relevant A levels, with a real expectation of all top grades. Spend time doing work experience in care homes, health centres, hospitals, etc. Ask a Dr if you can shadow them, if that is allowed. Then you can credibly talk about why you want to study medicine. You really need to care about people.Far more people are qualified to study medicine at Oxford than there are places for, so you need good interview technique. You need to smile, be relaxed, be enthusiastic and quick witted - without being smarmy or cocky. You need a good mind and if your interviewer does her or his job well, you need to be able to consider a new, fresh question or problem you’ve not considered and give a reasoned, considered, logical and engaging answer. Work experience will help in that regard.

How can one apply for Medical Post Graduation in UK after completing MBBS?

Hi, You have certainly took a great decision. And I'm not just saying because I promote education in the UK, but many of the top doctors in India do their post graduation in the UK and have doing it from last several decades. University of Oxford, University of Cambridge, Imperial College London are few of the top colleges in the world for studying medicine. And for doctors and nurses, it's relatively easier to get the residency because of the high demand for the professionals. Every year, UK releases list the shortage of occupants. The above image is from the Shortage occupant list released in April 2015. Check more shortage of occupations: https://goo.gl/OgVqop The procedure isn't complicated, you apply to the university in your final year of studies which increases your chances to get in and grab a scholarship as well. You will be required to give entrance exam as well. The 2 primary entrance exams for studying medicine in the UK are: UKCAT and GAMSAT. Both are different from one another. UKCAT is an online based test which includes 5 sections: Verbal reasoning, Quantitative reasoning, Abstract reasoning, Decision analysis, Situational Judgement Test.GAMSAT is a paper based test: Reasoning in the Humanities and Social Sciences, Essay writing/Communication and Reasoning in the Physical Sciences.Oxford and Cambridge use BMAT and Exeter & Plymouth use GAMSAT. Preparation for these exams can be time consuming, it's best to start a year before. To know more on how to prepare and apply for the MD is in UK you can arrange a free consultation with us. How to get into Cambridge with 38 IB points?

Generally Cambridge ask for 39-42 IB points including 7,7,7 or 7,7,6 in higher level subjects. That is the typical offer, but if you are a desirable candidate, and they want you they will sometimes give offers even for lower grades. They do value the IB score and regard it as highly as any of the other entrance qualifications. The best thing to do would be to speak to the admissions department and talk to them about whether people get accepted with 38 IB points and whether or not it's worth applying. Personally, I would say you should give it a go, as you do have good grades, and it you have a lot of other skills/achievements/extra curricular activities as well, then you have quite a good chance.
