Can A Bad Board Cause The Condenser Fan And The Compressor Not To Work

Why is my H.V.A.C compressor very hot to touch, and I;m not getting any cold air?

With the compressor being hot tells me that at some point it was operating or trying to operate.
the compressors have an internal Temperature switch so when the compressor gets hot it shuts itself off until it cools down.
This may be caused by low freon charge.
If the start capacitor swells up, the compressor cannot start causing temp overload.

Best thing to try, turn off thermostat, run water over compressor for approx.15 min wait another 15-20 min
turn on thermostat see if compressor comes on or not.
if it comes on it is probably low on freon.
if does not may still be overheated or wire connection, capacitor bad.
hope this helps.

Air Conditioner, sometimes won't start. Bad Circuit Board?

Update:
I do not have a way of grounding the t-stat, but the circuit board is grounded. The blower is not tripped, it just doesn't want to come on for a while. Could there be a "time-delay" in the relay/breaker for the blower motor?
I can't test all the relays suggested because the A/C is working properly now and I can't get it "act up" at the moment. I don't think there are any loose connections with the wires: Com, Grnd, Red, Yellow, White, Green, Blue. Are there any other wires I should check on?

Also, I don't know if I still have the installation instructions for the A/C system, but there is a folder of documents taped top of the air-handling unit. There are some electrical schematics in there and some literature, could that be the installation instructions? Is there something in those instructions which I should look for?

Thanks!

Can a bad thermostat cause the cooling fan to not kick in in my 91 Honda Civic sedan?

No!
Faulty relay
Faulty cooling fan temperatue switch

Window unit AC compressor still runs when turned off?

A electrical malfunction. Once the electricity is turned off the compressor should go off no matter what.

It is the same with you car running with no gas at all in it.

You need your air conditioner inspected immediately.

Or you need to watch it 24-7 so you can either pull the plug or disconnect the power. Because it could start a bad fire.

My Carrier AC unit outside stopped working. The inside is just blowing warm air. How do I fix it?

The outside unit has a magnetic contactor that uses a 24 volt coil to power up the fan and compressor. That way very small wires from the thermostat can be used to control the unit. That coil on the contactor might be dead. The capacitor could very likely be the problem. If is swollen or leaking. http://sites.google.com/site/sublimeappl...

Why doesn't my car AC work properly while idling?

Your AC doesn’t stop working most likely but it does lose much of its capacity. An auto AC has two limiting factors when the car is at idle.First the engine RPM are very low likely around 700–800 RPM. The engine turns the compressor. The faster the RPM the faster the compressor spins. The faster it spins the more refrigerant it is pumping through the system. The more refrigerant moving through the system the more cooling capacity. Normal engine RPM are 2000–2800 RPM which is approximately 3 times the idle RPM so approximately 3 times the capacity.Second is the air flow across the condenser coil at the front of the car. When the car is a idle it is most likely not moving. The only air moving through the condenser coil is being moved by the engine fan. That is much less air flow than when the car is moving at say 40 MPH. Less air flow means less cooling for the hot refrigerant gas which means, you guessed it, less capacity. So these two factors combine to reduce the cooling capacity of your AC significantly. If you put your car in neutral and increase the engine RPM to say 1500 RPM you will see a big increase in the cooling. In my cars the AC hits maximum capacity when I reach about 40 MPH. At that speed the RPM is 2000 or so and the air flow through the condenser coil is removing as much heat as the system produces.

What would make my central air not work?

If air is moving and you can hear the outside unit running it is time to call a repair man. If there is no air moving check your air handler filter. If neither unit is trying to kick on check your fuses or breakers. It also could simply be your thermostat is bad or not set to run your cooling for the summer yet. Good luck.
