Why dont Muslims cremate the deceased?
All praise is due to Allah. Muslims do not cremate the deceased because burning the body an act of disrespect and dishonour. Furthermore, fire is the Punishment of Allah for those who are in the hellfire, may Allah protect us. The funeral rites in Islam are to give honour and respect to the deceased such as washing the body, putting perfume on it and shrouding it in white. Even if a body is cremated. it will no doubt still be brought back to life on the day of Judgement. In fact, when bodies are created there is a small bone that is incapable of decomposing or being burned to dust and does not perish in fire and the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) stated that it is from this bone that our bodies will be brought back together by Allah on the day of Judgement. Finally, cremation is typically an act that is done by those who disbelieve in Allah and the Last Day and does not befit the believers.
Can Catholics be cremated?
Yes, the Catholic Church has allowed cremation for a while now. Although it is preferable to have the body present for Mass, it is less costly to cremate and it is understandable that there are families upon which this would be an undue burden. They have some rules, though. No intermingled cremated remains (husband and wife in same compartment), no pets buried with them, no scattering or holding out cremated remains for keepsake (small) urns or jewelry.
I want to be cremated when i die but i am muslim...?

In China, are Muslim burials exempt from the cremation law?
Yes, Muslims are exempt from the cremation law in China, providing that they belong to one of the "ethnic minorities" in the official classification. According to Chapter 1, section 6 of "Burial Management Regulations, decree 225 (殡葬管理条例)" issued by the state council, the burial traditions of ethnic minorities, such as the muslim minorities, the hui （回族）, the bai （白族）, the uighurs (维吾尔族), are to be respected. However, if a member of the ethnic minorities wishes to change his/her own burial arrangements, such as adopting cremation, others must not interfere. Further more, the State Ethnic Affairs Commission in Section 25 of the "Urban Ethnic Affairs Regulation (城市民族工作条例)" stated that it is the responsibility of the municipal government to provide appropriate burial grounds for the ethnic minorities. These regulation were not affected by State Council decree 628 (国务院关于修改和废止部分行政法规的决定), effective January 1st, 2013, which influenced the burial regulations of the Han majority.

According to the Hadith and the writings of Muslims, the dead are visited in the grave by two angels called al-Nunkir and al-Mukeer and they will sit you up in your grave and examine you in the faith. If you do not know the faith, they will beat you until the day of resurrection.There would therefore be a problem if Muslims are cremated. If they are cremated, how can their faith be examined by the two angels?
What happens to a body when it's being cremated?
I had a friend who witnessed a cremation and he claimed that the body does move around in the crematorium chamber, possibly from escaping gases. It freaked me out a bit to hear that, and as a result, I was against cremation for awhile. Now I'm back to being for it. Who cares what happens to the empty shell, once the soul is free?
