Can A New York State Permitted Driver Under 21

Can I drive at all at 16? (In new york)?

I hear that in new york I CAN drive at the age 16, but thats untill 7 pm, then i need an adult older than 21. So does that mean I can take my drivers test and all that jazz, then when im done I can drive?..at 16?

Please give me the details on this. I'm kinda confused. Thanks alot.

Can i drive in new york city with a under 21 limited new york state driver license?

No, absolutely not

To drive in the 5 Boroughs, you need to have your FULL license. People with limited junior licenses arent allowed to drive here unless accompanied by an adult, in a car with dual controls (yes, as set of brakes for you AND your parent)

People with a Junior Licence ( 17 years old) can only drive in the boroughs between work and home or a College Program, from 5am to 9pm, with your schedule on your person in case a cop pulls you over.

Besides, if you're only 16 and from Buffalo, you have nowhere near the driving experience to drive in NYC.....i'm 19 and i have a full license, and i lived here my whole life...and i STILL dont drive unless its cold and i have to. Besides, its like an 8 hr trip.

Punishment for driving alone with just a permit in New York state?

if he's under 18, he can't get his license until he's 18. if he's over 18, he can't get it until he's 21. and so on... after 21, it's 5 years until you can get your license/restart the process over again (ex: gets caught when he's 21, can't get his license until he's 26.)

he'd get his car impounded, he'd have to pay the fee for storage and getting it out, also reckless driving, etc. his parents will have to pay in some kind of way, and the worst that could happen? he could end up killing himself and others on the road.

a learners permit means you're LEARNING. you're allowed to drive on the road under certain conditions, and those conditions are driving with someone legal.. no better way of explaining it.

if he can't follow the rules, he has no business being behind the wheel of anything whatsoever.

the law might be a little different in New York (i live in nevada), but they can't be too different.

How old do you have to be to drive in New York City?

Do not listen to any answers saying you can drive at night or drive with someone with you!!!!!!!!! You mentioned New York CITY. I live in NYC and been here my whole life. Ask DMV yourself if you dont believe what I am going to tell you

In new york CITY (5 boroughs) you CANNOT drive with a learners permit, PERIOD unless the car has dual breaks (drivers ed cars). If you get caught your screwed. The only way to get practice is to go with a drivers ed instructor, or go to Long Island where driving with a permit with a licensed driver over 21 is permitted.

Keep in mind that the same applies to your license- you cannot drive till you get your class D license, which will happen either after you finish driver's ed and you're 17, or, you wait until you turn 18.
Be careful and good luck

In New York, how long do you have to have your learner's permit before you can get a full driver's license?

The New York Department of Motor Vehicles has a website that describes what someone with a learner's permit must do to prepare for a road test that will earn you your driver's license:Prepare for your road test If you're under the age of 18, you have to wait at least six months before you can attempt your road test.  Otherwise, you only need to wait as long as it takes to get "an appropriate amount of supervised driving practice".  What that means is the clarified with the following text:If you have a Class DJ [...] learner permit, you must have a minimum of 50 hours of supervised practice driving that includes at least 15 hours of driving after sunset before you take a road test.Just to clarify, DJ is for cars and, guess what?  The J means "junior", which is ALSO just for drivers under 18.  So that means if you're under 18, you have to wait at least six months, and get that 50 hours of practice. So what happens if you're older than 18?  Well then, you have a class D learner permit and don't have to wait at all.  You can schedule your road test the next day if they have a slot available.  However, the page also has this warning:We recommend that all drivers of all ages have this amount and type of practice. We also recommend that you take a driver education course or professional driving lessons.Hint, hint... don't be a dumbass and assume you can drive safely without any practice.  Otherwise, if you're an adult, no restrictions.

I got pulled over by a cop while being on a learner's permit in the state of New York. I received a ticket which says "turn without signal". I have a court date in 2 weeks. What can I expect?

Well, it depends on several things. Are you underage? Was there a licensed driver with you? If so, you'll probably want to just pay the fine and get it over with. If you were in violation of your permit, then all bets are off. Some states can defer full licensure until age 21, or similar; you may find yourself without a license...period. Don't fight the traffic court judge...just admit what you did, and chances are good (if this is your only violation on record) that (s)he will be lenient, and let you off easy.

Learners permit to driver license at what age? (NY)?

You can take your road test now that your 16 and have a learners permit. If you pass you get a "juniors license" which lets you drive to work and school. If you fail you have to take it again. When you turn 17 and have passed a road test, then and only then will you have your full license.

If I'm over the age of 21, and I have a class CDL permit, can I drive out of state with a class A driver riding with me?

According to Washington State you must be 21 years of age to operate from state to state with your CLP. The CLP will clearly tell you what you can operate and haul. The driver with the CDL must be in the passenger seat and have 2 years experience with the setup your hauling and 5 years total experience. The link below tells you everything you need to know.Commercial License Permit (CLP)
