Can A Person Become President If He Didn

Can a person born in China(like me) run for US president if Obama can't show his birth certificate?

The U.S. Constitution says that only a "natural born American citizen" can become President. Everyone used to think this meant being born in America, but then Obama came along and changed everything.

The citizenship and birth records of Obama have been questioned for many years. There is conflicting evidence that Obama is Indonesian, Kenyan, and even British (because Kenya used to be in the British Empire).

Obama is a man of mystery. He is half black and half white. He claims to be Christian, but he has a Muslim name and Muslim father. Obama is an enigma wrapped in a riddle having sex with a puzzle.

If Obama can become President, then anyone can, even you. Regardless of where you were born, the door to the White House is wide open. African tribesmen, Siberian dog-sled racers, Spanish bullfighters, and Japanese Geisha girls are eligible to be President of the United States thanks to Obama.

If you want to run against Obama in the 2012 election, then you should get your campaign started early. Can I be your campaign manager? Election fraud is a way of life in America, so getting you elected should be easy.. How do 1.3 billion "absentee ballots" in your favor sound?

Why was the 22nd amendment passed to limit how many times a person could be president?

Washington left office after 2 terms. Later presidents followed his example. FDR was kept in office partly due to WWII. There was no specific prohibition against it. Many people did not want a situation like that to come up again - giving a single person so much power for such a long time.
"Thomas Jefferson also contributed to the convention of a two-term limit; in 1807 he wrote, "if some termination to the services of the chief Magistrate be not fixed by the Constitution, or supplied by practice, his office, nominally four years, will in fact become for life."

Knowing that a President you loathe cannot be in power for more than 8 years (not including a half term due to the assumption of the Presidency by a VP) keeps the US from exploding into violence like other countries. Many other dictators have seized power, promised free elections, and then just assume supreme leadership forever after a few years in power. Hasn't happened here (yet), because people go in to the office knowing that they have a tentative exit date already listed.

Farley opposed Franklin Roosevelt breaking the two term tradition of the Presidency, and broke with Roosevelt on that issue in 1940.

] In 1947, President Harry S. Truman appointed James Farley to serve a senior post as a commissioner on the Hoover Commission, also known as the Commission on Organization of the Executive Branch of the Government. Farley's work on the Hoover Commission would lead to the development and ratification of the 22nd Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, establishing the modern executive term-limit laws. This was viewed by many, including Farley, as vindication for his public opposition to FDR's third term.

Why didn't Colin Powell want to run for President in 1996?He could of been Barack Obama right?

How do you attack someone who is a war hero like powell? He had a 95 percent approval rating the highest of any political leader since FDR. He had 35 years of Military Command, chairmen of the joint chiefs, He was the national security adviser during the cold war. Bill Clinton wanted to make him a 5 star general decided not to because polls showed Colin Powel would beat Clinton by 8 points when the economy was soaring. Why didn't he run?

A President with no First Lady?

James Buchanon was the only single President. I think it would be rad to be single and to be POTUS! Think of all the possibilities! But it would be hard now because marriage shows, commitment, strength dedication, etc... the people want someone who is grounded and can focus on the job at hand rather then on his next first date!

Does a person running for president HAVE TO HAVE a law degree to be elected president? is it a requirement?

No, as a matter of fact a majority Americans abhor the idea of a lawyer being president. The requirement is that you are 35 years of age, have no felony's and you are a natural born citizen.

It's all about a government of the people, by the people and for the people.

Can a convicted felon run for President?

Legally?  Yes.  Effectively?  No.  US Constitution, Article II, Section 1No person except a natural born citizen, or a citizen of the United States, at the time of the adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that office who shall not have attained to the age of thirty-five years, and been fourteen years a resident within the United States.US Constitution, Amendment XXII, Section 1 - ratified February 27, 1951No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once. There is no restriction against a felon running for the office of the President.  Only the Constitution may spell those restrictions and it doesn't address the issue.  This is because the Constitution is minimalist in nature; the belief was (and remains) that the individual states' would be sufficient to provide all the additional vetting of the candidates for the Office of the President of the United States.  Note:  I said nothing about voters.  The original intention was that the individual states would choose the method of selecting electors to the Electoral College.  Before the age in instantaneous communication and before the office actually came to mean anything (which was instantly upon he election of Washington; but before that, the office of POTUS --while much debated-- was imagined as being of lesser importance than the cherished entities: the individual States respectively), the Electoral College was a means to an end.  It allowed the states to decide on their own how their votes would be cast (some would be chosen by the state legislature, some by voters -- it didn't matter).  It allowed them to not worry about counting ballots in the nation's capital -- there'd only ever be a few hundred vote-casters.  Only after the early 1800's did it become standard to allow the citizens to decide. In the end, it's effectively impossible for a felon to become president, just as it's effectively impossible for anyone under 35 to do so either (though, with the latter, apparently it seemed prudent to address that pressing matter at the time of the ratification of the Constitution).

Should there be an age limit to run for president?

Yes, I think there ought to be age limits. Both, a floor, and a ceiling.
But then again, I think that ALL Public Offices ought to have term limits.
Not only that, but a limit on TOTAL years in Public Service.
Right now, even IF there were term limits, a person could make a career out of running for, and holding Public Offices. The Founding Fathers never wanted "career Politicians"!! Neither do I.
If you limit each position to two terms, a person could run the whole system.
Congressman, Senator, Vice President, and President.
IF one person had a winning record, they could be in D.C. for 30 years, easily.
I don't want them there any longer than ten years, cumulatively.

NOW, back to the age limits for the President.
Raise the low end to 40. Set the top end to 65, to run.
IF a Candidate runs, and gets elected for their first term before they reach 66, they could run for their second term. The reason I'd accept that is because the idea of a first term President being a "lame duck", seems absurd to me.
I don't want a President who is quite possibly senile, running our Country.
BUT there's a lot to be said about the wisdom of age.

I also want a requirement of "active duty, military service".
It makes no sense to me, to have a Commander-in-Chief who has no concept of military bearing. A President should fully understand what a military service-person is facing.
I served in the U.S. Army.
I would not want some pansy-a$$ed R.O.T.C. jerk, or LESS, telling me to go die for them!!
If they have never served in the capacity that had their life in potential jeopardy, I don't want them telling those who ARE, what to do. It just isn't right, in my opinion.
