Can An Employer Ask To See Your Personal Journal

Do you let people read your personal journal?

Do you let people read your personal journal?Sometimes. But only in a controlled amount.I get my diary sent to me by mail (Dabble Me - a private place to write is great), and I'll read my earlier entries over, and sometimes it's funny and I'll screenshot it and send it to my friends. But I'd never let anyone read whatever they wanted from my diary. I tell people very personal things, and I share personal things here, but nothing tops what I put in my diary.

What is a good journal /diary app for the iPhone?

A bit unusual, but you still can find it interesting: Answers app.Answers - Q&A diary в App StoreThis app asks you questions every day, you answer, and after a year it start asking the same questions again. So you can see, how dramatically you change your opinion after a year or several years.

What should I put into my journal?

There was a very similar question that I have answered before on Quora.Original Question: What is the best way to write a diary? My Answer:I have been writing personal journal for quite some time now. I was mostly inspired by some blog posts and difficult times in life to get into this habit. I started my first journal without any clue as to what has to be written in it. My first few entries can be compared to random words thrown on a piece of paper. It lacked purpose and direction. But over time my thoughts have got organized and I exactly know the things that I want to write in my journal. The things that I write in my journal achieve at least one of the following:1) Make me smile2) Teach me a Lesson3) Make me feel confident4) Help me stick to a positive habit5) Track my progress in life6) Feel GratitudeWhenever I read my first entry in my first journal (Yes, I still do!), I would laugh every time. It is an entry that I would not write even in my sleep now. But the important thing was that that entry even though it is horrible, converted the habit of maintaining a journal from a dream to reality. For example, if you want to build a habit – Day1: Write why you want to build the habit, what inspired you, what is the first step, what are the benefits?Day2: Did you take the first step? If yes how did it make you feel? Will this step work or should it be modified? If you did not take the first step, why and READ Day1’s entry?Day3, Day4, Day5… What did you do to progress towards your ultimate goal – Building THAT habit? As one might see, journaling is more of an interview where you answer the questions that you always have but never ask anyone. No one is going to grade you based on the answers on your journal so feel free to ask questions and answer them honestly. If the questions don’t increase your interest to journal the next day, then you will know that you are not asking the correct questions (There are no ‘wrong’ questions, there are only ‘correct’ questions and ‘not correct’ ones). If you still have problems coming up with your questions, I would recommend Grid Diary (http://griddiaryapp.com/), an iPhone app which asks you a set of random questions to record your day!(PS: If you do not have an iPhone, I will be happy to post some questions from Grid Diary app!)Hope this helps.

Can I be fired or reprimanded for not doing personal errands for my boss?

I recently had a meeting with my boss regarding my performance and I mentioned that his "occasional" personal errands are starting to have an affect on me finishing my work, and completing all my tasks on time. His requests are starting to conflict with my lunch and my ability to take my lunch. I've had to take his car to get the oil changed 3 times and it takes over an hour each time. I know I should be grateful for the time out of the office, but its starting to get me behind on my work and when he reviews my weekly task schedule, there's always small time consuming things left that I didn't get to finish because I just don't have enough time when I'm filling up his gas tank, getting the oil changed, handling his dry cleaning, or picking up dog medications. Not to mention he wants me to scan all of his personal family pictures into a program for him. He has me doing a lot of personal tasks and errands that I frankly don't feel comfortable doing, and honestly don't have the spare time to do. He already has me covering dual roles at my company. But back to my question, when we had our meeting he asked what duties would I get rid of if I could, and I said the personal errands. He got extremely defensive and said I had to do them, they are what help him, and that he doesn't do errands on the weekend, that's his free time. He told me if I don't do what he tells me, it's insubordination. Is this true? Is this something I can get in trouble for, or even fired for? Let's be honest, none of these errands are job related and its not that I just don't want to, but that I can't spare hours each day running around town doing his errands and finish all my work. It's at the point where I'm not taking my lunch breaks, or I'm working through my lunch breaks and eating at my desk.
