Can Anybody Recommend A Good Dog Food In The Uk For A 5 Months Boxer Puppy With A Sensitive Stomach

Why is my Boxer puppy so picky with her food?

My Boxer is the pickiest eater, ever. She has been since we got her at 6 weeks. She is now 4 months old. The vet says she is a healthy weight, but when she goes 3 days barely eating anything and then I catch her eating cat crap (instead of her food) it really worries me! Her food brand is Blue (which is suppossed to be a great holistic brand). When we first did the switch from Science Diet to Blue she loved it, but it only took her a few weeks to get tired of it. I am sorry, but we can't go through switching her food every other week, when she gets "tired" of eating it. I find myself getting very upset at her now and taking my frustration out on her by trying to make her eat. I sometimes yell at her "eat your food" and I know that is not a good thing to do and probably can only make it worse. We have even tried mixing different cans of wet blue brand in her dog food, plain yogurt, rice, chicken (you name it) and she sometimes eats it, but most of the time she only eats a little. I really need some advice. I want her to be excited about eating food and eat every time she is feed at 8 am, 2 pm, 8 pm, 1 cup per feeding so eat 3 cups a day! She is 4 months so I feed her 3 times or try to. Do you guys think 3 cups for a 4 month boxer is good? The last thing I want to do is force her to eat. I love my dog and she really is a great dog other than her finicky eating habits! Please help me! :(

Is Pedigree dog food good or bad for your dog?

If a dog foodstays inside the dogdoes not cause the dog to eat grass all the timedoes not cause elevated blood valuesis affordableis climate-friendlydoes not contain obscure ingredients like fantasy fish names or “algae”does not contain superfoods that cause botanists to have laughing fitsTHEN IT IS GREAT DOG FOOD!If Pedigree works fine for your dog, so be it. (Dear fellow quora users, a dog food does not have to contain 80 percent Wagyu beef….)Hills and Royal Canine are best if your dog needs a veterinary diet. (My 16-year-old labrador bitch would already be dead without strict “low fat”- diet. Rest of that dog is quite healthy but we could use a new pancreas… The 10-year-old has lymphocytic IBD and has to be fed a vegetarian diet. He gets severe diarrhoea from any kind of meat but is fine with his Hills/RC diet.)Please do not feed large amounts of meat. Dogs aren´t wolves and do not need this. Dogs ARE meant to be fed with corn, that is what most of them got the last 2000 years. A lot of meat does them more harm than good. (With the exception of working Greenlandic sled dogs, but I guess you do not live in Greenland and your dog isn´t an extremely wolf-like breed living outdoors in arctic winter.)Also, we do not want the human species to die out within the next 200 years due to extreme global warming, so any dog food with lots of meat is out of question. (Sorry, no Japanese beef for Fifi.)I also want to inform you that the non-scientific term “algae” applies to about 10.000 aquatic, autotrophic, pro- or eukaryotic organisms that are as closely related as myself and Ziggy The Cute Spider. If you feed your dog “algae”, you do not know what you feed (Photoautotrophic bacteria? Rhodophycea? Plants?), where it comes from (Fukushima?) and how it was harvested. (But of course we can always declare that dolphin, turtle, sea lion or drowned bird as “OceanWolfWilderness Premium Dog Food with tuna and algae” and print a wolf on the can. After all, shit happens.)I am certain your dog can do without chia seeds, sunflower tubers, powdered Aloe vera-leaves, Ginkgo fruits and … such. I haven´t yet seen a European wolf hunt for chia seeds and doubt very much our ancestors wanted Captain Cook to find new superfoods for dogs in Tahiti. (“SouthernSeaWolf with wild boar and bread fruits, wheat-free”… How does that sound? I think I might start to produce FROZEN RAW PREMIUM DOG FOOD. Some fellow quora users will pay me a fortune…)

Why is our new male boxer puppy so skinny? And what is the best (yet not too expensive) food to get it?

Also, it the pert store is in a small town. None of the puppies (or animals) there came from any stupid mill. The animals come from normal families that had a female and male animal that mated and NATURALLY had babies. The families sold their puppies, kitties, or whatever baby animal they had to the pet store, which sells the animals to other families. I'm tiered of all the stupid sarcasim about "...I'm glad you supported the puppy mills...", or "...shame on you and your family..." just give it up people. I don't like pet mills any more than you do, so why would I "support" it? I also got some comments about "...If it was that skinny, then why did you get it?" I got it because I wanted to give it a nice home and a nice family. If my family didn't take the dog, I'm sure you know where it would've ended up, THE POUND where it would suffer even more. So I don't wana here no more of those STUPID comments. Got it?

What happens to a puppy that eats adult dog food instead of puppy?

Nothing will happen to your puppy if you feed it adult food and not puppy. If you are feeding a good quality food and not a food that is grain laden and contains cheap ingredients it is perfectly fine to feed your puppy an adult food. Adult foods will NOT upset the digestive system, will NOT cause growth issues or any other such issue. If you have a giant breed puppy such as a Great Dane you want to feed it an adult food and not a puppy food.

Puppy foods are over rated and more sales gimmick then anything else although most contain high calories and levels of calcium & phosphorous.
****if feeding a good quality food no puppy will have to "gourge itself to get enough "to eat if eating adult food. If feeding a good quality adult food there is no need for a "puppy food".*******
****adult food is NOT harder for a puppy to chew *****

My boxer dog looks really skinny!!!?

I have a boxer who is almost 2 years old. And i feed her alot but she still looks really skinny, you can see all her ribs.
I went to one vet & he said she's fine, and that alot of boxers are naturally skinny...
I went to another vet when she hurt her leg & he said your dog is very underweight feed her more.
So i have been, i now feed her a small can and dry food for breakfast, & a large can for dinner, she also get leftovers sometimes throughout the day or after our dinner. I've been doing this the last month & have seen no changes...

She often wont eat her breakfast...as if she isn't hungry.
So I don't know what else to do, i don't want to look like a bad owner! but alot of people see her and go wow she's skinny!
:(

Should i re-worm her again? or could it be anything else? someone help! :)

How much should i be feeding my 10 month old female boxer? and should i still be feeding her puppy food?

purina beneful and kibbles n bits are terrible foods.

Boxers are prone to allergies as well as have sensitive stomachs. They should not be fed foods which have wheat, by-products, fillers, corn, grains or food coloring.

Blue Buffalo is a good food just read the ingredients on the packaging.

I generally feed my pups puppy food until they are a year old, 2 meals a day at 10 months old. At 12 months of age I gradually switch them over to an adult food twice a day for the rest of their lives.

As for boxer puppies looking skinny ... not really, they should not have their ribs or hip bones showing but will look slender... Not until they are about 2 years old do they start to fill out.

As for Eukenuba ... they have had way too many recalls on their food for salmonella and I would stay away from it.

If you think your pup is too thin look into a performance food, it is made for energetic dogs and works great.

Cheaper foods have fillers and other garbage which results in less nutrition for the pups/dogs body to take in resulting in the need for more food and more stool as the animals body has no use for it and simply eliminates it. a better quality food, you would feed a lesser amount and have less stool produced as all the nutritional needs are being met. It will cost you less money if you buy a better food as you feed less. Also another decent food which doesn't break the bank is Chicken soup for the puppy (dog) lovers soul.

As for the amount to feed, read the guidelines on the packaging and then determine from what you dogs individual needs are and increase or decrease the amount accordingly.

Dog Lovers- I have a boxer whose veins are visible on her side?

The first question i would ask you is How muscular is she? One of my females is super muscular and because of that her veins appear to stick out from the side of her. If she has just normal muscle tone then i would say she is probably scratching herself leaving welts from scratching.

The tummy rash is a whole different story. I would be very inclined to say she may have a staph infection which is very common on the belly of a boxer especially females. I would get her to the vet to have that checked out. A simple antibiotic will clear that right up. Another thing that may cause the rash on her lower tummy os a weak bladder. She may be leaking urine with out you knowing it and sleeping in a wet spot can lead to urine burn on the belly like that. If she is spayed then incontinence is pretty common after a spay and should be brought up to a vet as it can be managed fairly easily.

Best of luck!

Can I give my dog a hard boiled egg with the shell or do I essentially need to remove it?

Dogs can eat eggshells, and they are actually an excellent source of calcium, which is essential to healthy bones. Dogs in the wild eat whole eggs that they raid from nests, and also eat prey animals' bones. Many dogs don't get to eat bones, even though they are an important part of their diet, so eggshells help balance that. You can even keep and grind up the shells when you're making eggs for yourself, and mix it into your dog's food. Just don't overdo it, one egg a day should be fine.

What is the best food for dog's?

Dog food is a controversial subject that causes a lot of conflict of opinions. There is no right or wrong, and really the "best" food is what works for your dog. One dog may thrive on a certain food while another dogs terrible on it. Does this make the food good or bad? of course, the food is great for the dog who thrives on it and bad for the dog who does terrible on it.

My personal opinion is that dogs are carnivores and a low quality dry dog food that contains a minimal amount of meat and is full of grains, fillers and additives is NOT a suitable diet for a canine. A suitable diet in the ideal world would be whole raw foods, but for the average dog and owner a high quality dry food will have to do.

While this is not always strictly true, generally you get what you pay for with dog foods.

Anything by these brands; Eagle Pack, Canidae, Timberwolf Organics, California Natural, Innova, Solid Gold and Chicken Soup For the Pet Lovers Soul are high quality foods. Even some of the brands you can get in places such as PetSmart (Natural Balance, Nutro, etc.) are ok.

If you are in the UK, James Wellbeloved is probably the best easily available dog food on the market.

Avoid junk like Pedigree, Science Diet, etc. These foods contain little meat (and any meat that they do contain is poor quality) and rediculous amount of grains and fillers. Feeding high grain/high carb food is terrible for the health of your dog therefore they should be avoided at all costs

Can you give a dog an antacid like Tums?

Tums is a brand of antacid that is used to treat symptoms of heartburn, acid reflux and ulcers in humans. However, it is safe to give to dogs if they are experiencing symptoms of an upset stomach. Antacids work by increasing the pH of the digestive tract to a more basic level. The recommended dosage depends on the age and weight of the dog, so it is important to contact a veterinarian for guidance in determining the correct amount to administer. From petmd.com
