Wish you had a picture of it. I'm assuming this is not a woman's lapel pendant. And maybe a military unit symbol. I have seen the right pointing arrow with the "D" as a military squad ID. It was the D with the arrow across, or over, the center of the D. But (and this is a long shot here) it was on German WW2 fighter planes. It was adopted by an elite squad of Luftwaffe (Looft-waffa) fighter pilots. It is unlikely the metal is a precious metal. Maybe silver plated or Nickel plated if very old. Chrome plating didn't become a process until after 1946.
