Can Anyone Tell Me About This Area

Can anyone tell me where this photo was taken?

You mean here?I’ve got the satellite images capturing the sun at the wrong time of the day, but I believe that is the location. The canyons look correct and I think I have the bluffs matched up. It is certainly the south rim of the Grand Canyon, the exact location is difficult as it is a BIG crack in the ground (thus the name). In Google, the most likely locations for this would be the walls at these two pull offs:Hopi Point or Powell Point. They are close enough to each other to be visually indistinguishable in respect to the size of the canyon background. There is a third, a walking trail off the same road, still again to the right of Powell Point (South East) isMaricopa Point. However, I am not sure, but from my vantage, the drop-off of Maricopa would not show any tree in the background, so I would favor the first two. Of course it does depend on which wall the photo was taken against. As you can see there are trees all around Maricopa Point as well.If I go any farther west the canyons start being obscured. If I go too much farther east, some of the canyon bluffs start disappearing. I’m not positive, but I am reasonably certain it was taken against one of those three walls. It’s very hard to be certain when dealing with such a large and detailed landscape with similar peaks. You could always take a long vacation to the Grand Canyon and visit all these sites people have pointed you to and treat it as a treasure hunt. Try to find the spot by visiting all these points and lodges and see if you can find the exact spot. If you do. Then you can have your photo taken in the exact spot. It is most certainly the Grand Canyon and you can’t go wrong with a vacation to the Grand Canyon (other than it will be crowded). If you take a look at the map, most of these answers are close to the same location, geologically speaking (and in relative scale to the Grand Canyon itself):Almost everyone, including me, (as seen in this close up) is pointing you to the little tiny corner of this big image that says “Grand Canyon Village.”Zoom in on that image and you will see that little corner that matches the zoom-in section above. We’re all in the same general location. Go there. Find the wall. Enjoy the search. It’s an amazing place, I’ve been there many times.

Can anyone tell me about the Ft Polk, Louisiana area?

It is what you make of it. I have been here for roughly 3 1/2 years. It is hot and humid, the bugs are huge, and the town (Leesville) is starting to attract more stores. The nearest mall is about 45 minutes away in Alexandria. The base is being updated too. There is a new restaurant and a few other amenities. Also, housing has become privatized. Most homes have been renovated and there is a new housing area with brand new housing. However, I wasn't lucky enough to receive new or renovated housing since I got here before housing was privatized.

Can anyone tell me about the Volkel/Uden Area and/or the Netherlands in general?

About Volkel:
It's a small village of about 4000 inhabitants. It's in the southern part of the Netherlands, in the province called 'Noord-Brabant'. There's a recreational park nearby, called 'BillyBird Park Hemelrijk' and it consists of a big pool, and 2 big playgrounds (so if you get kids;)). It's a catholic town and has a church.

About Uden:
It's a slightly bigger town with about 40 000 inhabitants, it has quite a few shops, museums and sports facilities.
This is the website of the town of Uden (in English), on which you can also find some (not much though) handy information:
http://www.uden.nl/content.jsp?objectid=9402

Some good tips:
- The Dutch are open-minded, we don't like being judged and we mostly don't judge others very quickly
- Mind that we aren't like Americans.. we talk less loud, we talk with less emotion, and we sometimes really don't care about being nice and friendly.. We're really direct/straightforeward with what we want to say, don't be insulted by that, it's just the way we are..
- Don't drive in the busy traffic hours if you don't have to.. the Netherlands is full of traffic jams..
- Since the Netherlands is a small country, our shops and buildings are on a smaller scale as well.
- About 90% of the population speaks English, so don't bother about Dutch, haha=)

can't think of any other tips at the moment, but well, since you're in a military base, you'll probably get used to the life here pretty quickly.

Oh, and about housing:

Hope this helped;)

My bf's underwear has a hole at the XXXXX area. Can anyone tell me why? thanks...?

Maybe its wear and tear reason. if not maybe he had it for less restriction. or it can be the designs.most underwear designs have the design for easy access to pull out his willy, that's provided its such design.

Can anyone tell me where I can find a Pinball machine in the Chicago area??

My goodness; Chicago is the center of the universe as far as pinball is concerned. There's only one major manufacturer today, Stern Pinball, and they are in Chicago. All the other big manufacturers are out of business now, but they were in Chicago too (Bally, Gottlieb, Williams).

For used games, just google something like "chicago used pinball" and you should get plenty of places to investigate.
