What are some career paths that work with children?

There are seemingly endless careers that involve kids from restaurants to medical fields to schools. What route you choose if you want to work with kids could largely depend on what you feel you can invest of your personal patience level. That could decide one of the most important factors — how much time you can spend with kids, how many you can handle at one time, and of course, what age groups. A good way to find out is to look for volunteer opportunities or pay attention to how your current role involves children. Also, don’t discount surprising sources of opportunities, particularly in scientific research, that could make it possible for you to learn from and alongside children.

How do I convince my parents to let me do dance hip hop when they think its too 'scandalous' or showy?

Firstly, ask your parents what it is about “Hip-hop”, they find scandalous or showy? As a father of a 12 year old, (I have a very good looking, beautiful, pretty daughter). Should my daughter desire to dance I would encourage it. One, it exercises all the muscular groups of the body, including the brain. It also exercises a persons emotions. Dance, can be very therapeutic, calming, descriptive of one’s emotive upbringing and a pleasure to watch. The question I would be asking you is, what type of clothing or attire are you wearing that your parents find your desire to dance “Hip-hop” is scandalous and/or showy? As far as the dance itself goes, it is about expressing one’s emotions through Music and rhythm.Hope this helps,Colin

Masters in Performing Arts / Dance?

I suspect that what you're really looking for is a Master of Fine Arts from a conservatory. ("more practice than theory") The MFA is a studio degree as opposed to the more academic (research and theory) MA/MSc. The MFA is also the terminal degree in dance qualifying for post-secondary teaching appointment.

Maybe one like http://www.roehampton.ac.uk/postgraduate... in London.

A graduate major in performing arts (would include music, theatre, dance...as a group) would be a Master of Liberal Arts with that concentration. This would tend more toward theory and research than practical application. It's not a very useful vocational qualifier (no jobs require one) but is useful for teachers and for people that just want to "learn more cool stuff".

Dance Therapy is a whole different animal. It would likely be incorporated into a PE department's offerings and will include some other areas (counseling, physical therapy, etc...)

Dance is not a major that is easy to find anywhere and especially difficult to find outside of the US. They will be highly competitive to enter and will likely require professional experience. Most dancers do not prepare for their career via graduate study in dance.

How can I tell me parents I have lost my passion for dance and don't want to dance anymore?

So, I've had three years of professional training in ballet and other types of dance and I'm now looking for a job in dance. I don't have the right body for ballet, and I don't really enjoy doing contemporary or jazz (though I will do it if I have to). I've done three auditions (Didn't even get a chance to dance in one of the auditions) for cruise ships and I have a few auditions coming up. But I have no interest in actually getting the jobs.
Now my parents have always been supportive of my dancing, but my mum is very pushy with it all, she always searches for auditions for me to go to and I feel bad if I tell her I don't want to do it and always feel under pressure. And I don't even want to think how my dad is going react to me not wanting to dance. I wouldn't know what to do if I gave up dance as I have no other qualifications (I have G.C.S.E's but no A-levels), but I do have a degree in dance.
My issue is, do I keep pushing myself to try to get a job in dance? Or do I just give up and try something else?
