Can Depression Cause Hair Loss

Can stress and depression cause hair to thin?

Stress and depression can cause hair loss. Depending on your genes and if you make lifestyle changes, the hair will grow back over time. Hair loss can also be a sign of a hormonal imbalance, too.... which is sometimes caused by high stress.

Can depression / stress cause hair loss?

Absolutely it does. My advice: take care of yourself. Eat right, exercise, and nurture your soul. Find a way to relax and "turn off your brain". Try Yoga or Belly Dancing. Something spiritually stimulating. Or maybe meditation? If that isn't your thing, try the gym. Maybe talk to a counselor or Behaviorial Health professional. Don't hold the feelings inside - that is the worst thing you can do. The best relationship you can have is with yourself. Stay with me for a second.... Think of yourself as a little girl for a minute. If she was upset, what would you do? If she was worried, what would you do? If she was anxious, what would you do? Then do that. Find a way to care for your soul and nurture yourself.

Can depression cause hair loss?

Short Answer: Yes.Explanation: Depression, Anxiety, Stress and other mental health issues can and do cause serious physical repercussions. You can literally waste away if your mind is unhealthy even if you eat and exercise properly. There are just too many examples for this. I personally lost a lot of hair due to the stress that comes from me being lazy and procrastinating thus causing problems which cause me anxiety and thus I lost my hair. This coupled with the fact that you slowly stop taking care of your physical health when you are afflicted with mental health issues like depressions, stress and such means you will deteriorate much faster. Thats why they say : "Healthy mind for a healthy body".As a person who knows people who suffered from severe depressions and OCD I can vouch for this and I really hope you immediately go and get treatment like counseling and group sessions where you can unload everything that is bothering you and hopefully find the root causes of the issue and eliminate it. {Don't worry about some social stigma or how society will look at you for getting treatment for mental health issues - People have very short memories :) } By the way, the drugs some money minded doctors prescribe are utterly useless and in many cases cause other mental or physical health problems {like what Ritalin does to boys}. A good counselor will talk to you and try to solve the issue without chemicals unless you're an extreme case {suicidal, lack of emotion, mentally breaking, etc} or your problem is caused by hormonal/chemical imbalance in your body.

Can stress cause hair loss?

From personal experience I say an unequivocal yes. Stress can cause hair loss. My entire life I've had long, lush, thick, and healthy hair. It was what enhanced my beauty and I was definitely very vain about my hair. My life was going along great  - I had everything I wanted, a beautiful apartment in a big city, I was doing great in my work, and I had wonderful boyfriend (we were going to get married!). Then out of no where, my life began to spiral apart, my boyfriend left me, my work started to falter and I could no longer afford living the way I used to. I would work, come home, lie on the couch and watch T.V. till I fell asleep.  Wake up the next day and I'd do it all over again. I did this for weeks and weeks on end. I was sad, life seemed heavy and my body was working over time to keep me moving and going. As a result my hair started to fall out. I could no longer pull my hair in to ponytails because it would expose so much skin near the front of my scalp. One morning I woke up and it hit me, I was going bald. The hair loss was a sign that something just wasn't right with my body. I changed my diet and started doing Indian hair oiling methods I learned to do as a little girl. The hair loss stopped but the lost hair did not start growing back. I was still marred with a lot of anxiety. It wasn't until after I started to focus on shedding the anxiety that my hair started growing back. How did I shed the anxiety?(A) Going to bed early. Quitting T.V. Waking up early.(B) Talking to my loved ones every day, every chance I had. (C) Stopped eating any junk, removed all processed foods from my life. Removed all toxic people from my life. Any one that took advantage of me, didn't give me credit, or gave me a funny anxious feeling, I let them go. (D) Focusing on the now. Every time my mind wandered, I focused on my breath. I focused on my hands typing, the water hitting my face, how the pillow felt against my cheek....I started to live. (E) Forgetting the past. Acknowledging that the past had no power over my life (this moment).  This moment was all I ever had. This isn't easy, it sounds easy but it takes effort. I had to realize that I did not need the anxiety, the T.V., the junk food...I did not "need" anything. The current moment was the most precious gift in my life. The only thing I actually needed.

Can hair loss be triggered by stress/depression?

Yes you can experience hair loss because of stress or depression. If you really want to stop the hair loss then you need to use a hair treatment like provillus. I've been on it for 5 weeks and i must say there is a major improvement in my part. It has all the vitamins your hair needs and much more.I've used it and I had very good results.Provillus contains the only FDA-approved topical ingredient clinically proven to re grow hair.

I am sure this product will be worth your time for a second look since your money would be going into the right hands. In a survey conducted, 18 out of 20 people experienced a drastic change after using this product. None experienced any side effects.

Provillus offers the best possible and perennial solution for this problem for both men and women. One of the best parts of the provillus treatment is that it uses natural ingredients. Provillus basically functions by removing the main cause of hair loss i.e. DHT. DHT damages the hair follicles and is responsible for the thinning of hair. It also restricts the re-growth of new hair. Provillus prevents its formation and it also promotes the growth of the new hair.

I use it once a day every evening. The area which i was balding in was the top middle portion of my head, not sure why cause no one in my family is loosing hair accept me so its not genetic. I have regrowth in that area, few strands are coming up and my wife says its so much better than it was before.

Well you might be aware that it is available for both men and women. The saw palmetto extract is basically present in the men's version whereas a combination of acids is present in the female version. Thus in addition to the solution of problem of hair loss it also nourishes hair.
