Can Dog Poop Be Hosed Down

Why does my dog roll in duck poop?

first poster is dead wrong, Xan is dead right.
Dogs, especially dogs with a high prey drive and working breeds, will roll in scents and actually poop and dead animals to mask their scent. This way, if they were to sneak up on prey, the prey wouldnt detect their smell, but rather think that they smell a dead animal and thus wouldnt be alarmed. It's the old "wolf in sheep's clothing" saying.

My malamute rolled in bear poop once, and also in a dead bat. both of which were totally gross..... but you bathe and you dry and you make sure they dont get another chance to roll in something again.

Need to get rid of dog poop smell in back-yard?

You can buy special 'pet odour eliminating' cleaners - they have biological enzymes in them to break down the chemicals in urine and faeces which cause the smell. Most of them are designed for indoor cleaning but I'm sure you can get ones for outside.
make sure not to get one that cleans up the smell but also replaces it with a repellent designed to put animals off fouling there again as this may stop your dogs being comfortable eliminating in your yard.

Lyme might work as well as it helps things break down more quickly. But I definitely don't suggest using bleach - you don't want it sinking into the earth in your garden.

Make sure to have a poop-a-scoop or a plastic bag on hand whenever you let the dogs out to eliminate, so you can pick up the poop AS SOON AS ITS DONE. I know it might seem tempting to wait till the end of the day and pick it all up, but by then its had a chance to sit and get smellier. Make sure meal times are regular so you can watch them, and work out roughly when your dogs will need to go so you can let them out, and collect it without letting it sit (instead of them doing it all day at any time, when you have more chance of missing it and not cleaning up straight away).

Unless the living conditions were bad (as in, they were living in filth) I doubt they would take your dogs away for this issue of smell - they'd probably give a warning at most, and tell you to do what you can to lessen the problem.

Why does my dog poop while laying down?

Is your dog on Cosequin or another cartilage support medication? Is he on any
NSAIDS, like Rimadyl or Etogesic? If not, he should be on both the Cosequin and the NSAID.
12 years is quite old for a GSD. Because of their inherent hip problems, most don't live that long. Keeping him comfortable is paramount. Make sure he has a cushy dog bed to lay on. Keep him warm. A sweater or coat that covers his hips is good when he has to go out in the cold weather.
After that you have to decide whether you can live with the poop eggs in the house in exchange for the time he has left, or if it's a deal breaker.

How do you get dog poop out of car carpeting?

I was delivering newspapers this morning and i didn't notice that I stepped in the grossest pile of dog poo in history. When i went to go get into my car, i smelled it, but by then it was too late. Some of hte poo managed to fall off of my shoe and onto the section of plastic by the door, and the gap that connects the plastic to the carpetting. Any ideas on how to get the smell out?

I've already tried delluted bleach (yes, i know that it will probably turn the carpet color, but i don't really care), and i've hosed it down with Febreeze...anything else to try?

Dog pooping on concrete while on walks?

My dog is 3 years old and a couple of months ago on a walk she saw another dog poop on the concrete and on that same walk she pooped on the concrete as well which she had never done before and now she poops on the concrete when we are on walks despite me taking her before. What can i do to stop this?? Its extremely embarassing

Why does my dog poop on the sidewalk? not the grass?

It's probably a combination of a couple of things, but since you just rescued her, she is currently doing what she was trained to do, for whatever reason. At that age, she just knows that that is the thing she is supposed to do. Dogs love to roll around in the grass on their backs. It's such a fun thing to watch, always makes me smile, because they are in pure heaven. Maybe she just doesn't want to roll around in her own poop. The fact that you mentioned you have to pick it up when it's on the sidewalk leads me to believe you might not be picking it up off the grass quite as instantaneously.

Change the routine with love and patience. Putting her on the leash to "go" only on grassy areas for a while is a good idea, as mentioned by an earlier answerer.

When dogs poop, how do they clean their bums?

They don’t. But you probably knew that. But since you asked, I’ll go on, I’m sure you are sincerely curious. Most healthy dogs’ poop simply falls off without leaving much residue. Some dogs are able to reach their bums and lick them off if they feel compelled. Others can’t.Dogs who have a temporary health issue may have Diarrhea. Dogs with diarrhea may end up with a messy bum. I’ve seen them slide around in the ground or lick their bum to clean if off if the gooey poo bothers them. Or not. Sometimes they make a poopy mess.Short-haired breeds, like pit bulls, rarely have messy bums, but it does happen now and then. Some longer-haired breeds, such as Australian Shepherds, have been bred for luxurious coats, including a furry “skirt” on the back end. This can often collect “poo dangles” or masses of matted mushy diarrheaI have two Australian Shepherds. At least once a week I have to hose off a poo dangle. Some are spectacularly messy. I’m very glad we have outdoor hot water which is handy for year-round bum hosing. We routinely trim the skirt down to make a “poop chute,” but, what can I say, hair grows back.Obligatory cute dog pictures of my dogs taken recently. Gauranteed there was a poo dangle within a week of these photos. Basil is the small one, 2 years old. Preston is the large one, 13 years old.Juno, the first day we brought her home at 18 months, taking over the master bed as is befitting the queen she was. She never had a poopy bum. She died at nearly 15 in 2016.

How to get rid of the smell of dog poop from my backyard?

My neighbor came knocking on my door today complaining that the smell of my dogs poop is infesting her yard. I have a mini dachshund, a Saint Bernard and a German shepherd. They don't use the restroom in any other part of the yard except for their dog run. Which they only go in there to use the restroom or if we have company over in the backyard. If any of you own big dogs you know how much they poo. So, my husband cleans after them daily. I'm just frustrated because I don't know what she expects us to do. It's not like we leave the feces over flowing. It's cleaned daily. I catch her peeking over our yard to check all the time. Does anyone know how to get the smell out even though it's cleaned daily? Thanks!

Can you train a dog to poop in one area of the yard, like a cat's litterbox?

Can you train a dog to poop in one area of a years like a cat’s litter box?Yes, but. Or yes, maybe. Yes, usually.Like everything else to do with dog training consistency is important. The basic idea is simple.Take your pup outside regularly, especially if pup is sniffing the floor or starting to squat. Extra especially after a meal. You do that anyway, right?Take your dog to poop corner. Often that means carrying him quickly. Put the pup down and don’t let her leave until poop or pee has happened. A small fence helps. If you wish a verbal command, “Do it” or something similar may be used. When desired end result is obtained, praise the pup, repeat every time. If you get his bottom to the right place fast enough and often enough the message will be received.Consistency and praise. The key to training anyone to do anything. (Why dear, thank you for vacuuming!)This really helps keep your clean up contained and is really not that hard.Remember, lots of praise. Good luck.
