Many people can train themselves to digest milk, by slowly introducing it into the diet. I did this a decade ago but consume no dairy now. There are many warnings about the consumption of dairy products. Here is one from Joel Furhman, M.D.“Heart diseaseA related recent finding is that deaths from heart disease also are strongly associated with milk drinking in adulthood. Of particular interest is that (as is the case with Parkinson’s) the association is with the non-fat portion of milk. Non-fat and skim milk consumption shows the same association as that of whole milk. Researchers found that heart disease death is strongly associated with circulating antibodies against milk. These antibodies are found to bind to human lymphocytes and platelets, thus increasing the likelihood of clot formation. The researchers also concluded that the non-fat aspects of milk have atherogenic effects (plaque-building) both biochemical and immunological, and the simultaneous attack from all these directions explains why milk was found to have such a strong effect on death rate.”

Detox pills, and detoxification and cleansing in general, are neither useful nor necessary unless you have had long-term narcotic use or are chronically constipated. Detoxification and cleansing has no proven medical benefits for the average person whatsoever. It will NOT help you lose any significant amount of fat. Your intestines are clean unless you use large amounts of muscle relaxers, or have serious digestive illness.

Does drinking water add to diarrhea?

Diarrhea (why is that so hard to spell) will dehydrate you, so you need to keep drinking fluid to replenish what you lose.

If water is causing more trouble, try drinking tea instead.

If this is an ongoing problem i.e. more than a week then please go and see a doctor, or ask for a house visit. Do not be embarrassed by the problem, doctors are there to help.

If you don't want to see a doctor, try eating a tiny bit at a time. Try rice or soup with a small piece of bread. Nothing fancy and no large portions.

...it sounds like your water is contaminated btw. Do you live in an area where this could be true?

Do you get diarrhea from drinking powerade?

It's quite possible. It's not even just the Powerade. Any overdose of any kind of drink may cause diarrhea because of all the water/liquid in your body. The water//liquid travels down to your intestines and your stools excreet all that water/liquid in liquid stools. If it gets too bad, take some over the counter Immodium.

Water absorption from the stomach and small bowels is very rapid as it does not need specialized transporters and just diffuses in between the gaps (called paracellular route). Excess of water absorbed in the system is peed out in urine. In a person with normal functioning kidneys, there is an immense capacity to excrete excess water. The amount of blood filtered by the kidneys in a healthy person approximates 160 to 180 lit/day. Upto 95% of the filterate is reabsorbed back (i.e. 170 lit) and only the 5 to 10 lit of the excess fluid (with the daily toxin load of urea, creatinine, acids, salts) is peed out in the urine. If however, there is more water added to the system, the amount reabsorbed by the kidney tubules can decrease, to allow the excess water to be excreted out into urine. So, in a person with normal functioning, healthy kidneys, excess water intake will not cause diarrhea.Even those with diseased kidneys will not typically have diarrhea early, as the water absorption from the gut is very rapid. If these people were to chronically ingest excess water, they will end up retaining the excess water in the system (as kidneys do not have the capacity to make enough urine) and will develop symptoms from the same. Once the fluid accumulation is large enough to cause fluid overload/ swelling everywhere, including the lining of the gut, then the diarrhea begins (and is primarily from inability to absorb any food or water due to swelling of the gut lining).

I like red wine occasionally. However, if I have too much of it I’ll shit black water the next day. It doesn’t happen with anything else for me and it clears up by the end of the following day, so in that case it’s most likely just the colour of the wine, plus whatever horribleness it has done in my gut overnight that causes it. Red wine does not agree with me, but I do enjoy it, so these days it’s a rare treat and in small amounts. Never to the stage of blackwater backside any more.If you are getting black poo from any alcohol, or for more than a few hours, then you should take the advice of the other replies and see a doctor ASAP.Regular black poo is a bad sign. It might or might not be the alcohol causing it but if you have any internal bleeding, alcohol will only make it worse.
