Can Dwarf Hamsters Eat Live Goldfishes

What do dwarf hamsters eat in the wild?

They most certainly do! They are equipped with a well functioning stomach and bowel system and have just as much need to eat as any other small mammals! They need to eat a lot of seeds of different fruits and vegetables and need proteins as well, and this need is catered for by the fact that dwarf hamsters, against popular beliefs , are carnivores and will readily intake meals of worms and insects smalller than themselves, at regular intervals.

Can my hamster live outside?

I think he will be fine. On really hot days or days when it just gets a little cold bring him in for the day. Check on him very frequently to because he could run out of water in the heat or his water could freeze in the winter and make sure he always has plenty of food and FRESH water.

Should I get a rat,fish, or hamster?

I've asked my father about getting a fish, hamster, or rat in the next few months and the chance is quite high that I can have one. I've had both fish and hamsters before, but never a rat. My main concern is the short life expectancy for all three animals. We also have two cats and two dogs in the house, but they never bothered the fish we had before nor the hamster. I know that the fish wouldn't keep me up at night, but I couldn't exactly do anything with them, and I know that hamsters are nocturnal, but they are trainable. I think rats are the same way, but I can't remember.
So, what is the pros/cons of hamsters and rats? And what breed of hamster would be the best kind to get? (If it was a rat it would just be the normal white rat if I got one.)

Is a 5 gallon aquarium good for 1 dwarf hamster? shes in a sams?

Other people have been saying you shouldn't keep your dwarf hammie alone, but if she's been alone for a while now it may be very difficult to introduce another one..

Like other people have been saying: 5 gallons is very small..If you think about it; hamsters run miles upon miles in the wild..5 gallons wouldn't allow enough room to run, eat, drink, and sleep. I would say go with at least 10 gallons. I think there's a such thing as a 15 gallon (?) ..if so that may be a good happy-medium..

Good Luck :)

What can I feed my dwarf hamster?

Feeding your dwarf hamsterGiving your hamster the right food is vital for their good health. It is best if you keep their diet diverse. You can include formulated mixed food, fresh food, and even insects in their diet. The formulated food should be free of pesticides and specific to hamsters. Dwarf hamsters can eat fresh food such as asparagus, bran, and unsalted nuts & seeds. It is important that any fresh food you feed them is low in water. Since they originate from desert climates, foods that are high in H20 can cause diarrhea. Insects can also be fed on occasion such as crickets and grasshoppers. If you need further guidance on how to care for your dwarf hamster, you can chat with a dwarf hamster specialist or Veterinarian through 6ya and instantly video chat with them live. Why are some pet hamsters friendly and let you hold them after you bring them from the pet store, while others are skittish and afraid?

Imagine you are smaller than the hand coming at you…would you be afraid? All animals need time and patience. We had a dwarf hamster who would bite if you tried to pick her up. However, if I put a treat on my hand and let her walk out onto my hand herself, she never bit. Most animals can learn with positive reinforcement. Use hamster treats, they love them. Spend time just observing and talking to them.I used to give my hamsters a treat at bedtime every night. One time we were gone overnight and when we got home our 2 dwarf hamsters had gotten out of their cage. I got the treat bag, they knew the sound, and they came right to me!I spent a lot of time with our teddy bear hamster (he was so fascinating to watch groom). He broke out of his cage once ( finally figured out how he was doing it, also fascinating, he was sooooo smart) and he was behind my washer and dryer. It’s 3a and I’m a little sleep groggy and call his name a couple times. I’ll be darned if he didn’t come right to me!Again, time and patience :0)
