Can Fast Food Restaurants Hire Siblings

Can fast food restaurants hire siblings?

I'm 23 and I work full-time in the summer at a water park in foods, I just got a job at Wendy's and my 16-year-old brother was wondering if he could get a job there too. I know there are places that won't hire siblings, and even the water park I work at won't put siblings in the same stands. So, I wanted to know if anyone knew if Wendy's hires siblings, to know if it is even worth him applying there.

Why do fast food restaurants hire cashiers that don't speak english?

The onwers just want to be cheap, that is all it is. They want workers who will do the time for as little as possible in terms of wages, and who *cannot* object to being treated poorly, that is, to being yelled at, abused, and overworked by managers.

Really. You yourself may work in a good restaurant, but those are few and far between, for the rest of us, working in a fast-food place is nasty, and even the folks in charge know it, so they look for immigrants, and illegal ones too in a last-ditch attempt to get as *close* to slave labor as they can get away with.

And as for "order accuracy"? They could care less....the customers are just *peons*, just wallets with mouths attached. Nobody cares anymore about doing right by the customers....it's all about volume, just shove something at them and get them to *leave*.

Yes. It. Is. Open your eyes.

Why do so many restaurants fail?

I would like to share my own experience as the place I used to work went bankrupt after a year. The restaurant used to sell good burgers and chicken I loved the food. The location was prime (courtney place, wellington NZ). I was pre opening staff and after a week I got the gut feeling this place is going to fail. I was right due to following observations:-Family members:- The owner hired his son, daughter cousin brothers kids as staff. Two managers one was son in law and other girl was some relative. With so much relatives in a business you can never keep standards, procedures or SOP. You can't tell of or fire your relatives for fear or personal reasons. One manager used to chew gum while taking orders, not use gloves make very inconsistent burgers with no attention to hygiene. Other staff member was party person mostly would not turn up to work or late and hungover. Staff like this are liability due to which customers will hesitate to return.Financials :- The sales were continuesly declining but staff hours were never cut. If they were ever reduced it would be the non relatives that had to pay the price. Having these loved ones at work internal theft is something you can't address. These folks walked away with cold drinks casually without putting through POS.Inventory:- Inventory mismanagement was one of the core issues of the failure. Due to hiring staff (relatives) with no restaurant experience. Inventory ordering was done as a joke or to stay away from kitchen. We had abundant chicken but buns ran out so we couldn't sell and due to lack of bacis understanding of first in first out food used get expired spoilt increasing wastage. There was always something missing because it was ordered. Then you end up buying from supermarket. Ex:- your supplier mayonnaise would be different then super market one and would not have same taste or consistency. Customers don't get a standard recipe for their every visit.Management :- After bad performance we had a lady come in to review of our store. She had lots of experience in mcdonlds but she was highly motivated by Gordon Ramsay TV show kitchen nightmare and instead of sorting tout he store every hour she just yelled “shut it down” now this was embarrassing for the store and nightmare for our customers as she literally closed the store twice.

In a fast food restaurant are you supposed to clear your tray and rubbish away when you have finished? It amazes me that so many just get up and leave.

I was eating BBQ at Rudy’s in Austin, TX about 20 years ago with my father, sister and a high school friend. The place was busy as usual for the lunch rush and very noisy with the lunch crowd talking at communal picnic tables. When we finished eating, my father stood up and quickly started walking away. My sister exclaimed “Dad, you have to throw away your trash and put up your tray!” My father loudly replied, “I didn’t just spend $100 on BBQ to throw away my own goddamn trash!” You could tell the hundred or so people on the patio quieted as soon as he bellowed this absurdity and walked away. I was mortified as everyone looked at us. Me, my sister and my friend quickly cleared our trays, including my fathers, and put them away before trying to get to the truck before possibly being left behind just like my fathers tray. Years later I came to realize that my father is a narcissist and an all around asshole. The real question would be, why does god make narcissistic assholes?

What is a harder job, babysitting or fast food work?

im a 16 year old who works currently at taco bell. when i was 15 i worked at one of the busiest mcdonalds in new york and put up with a lot of bad things. i think its safe to say i know what im talking about. my sister is 18 and has never had a job besides babysitting on rare occasions. she told me that it is a harder job than working in fast food and a couldnt even say anything because it was so bogus. im not saying it doesnt get difficult at times, but its not even in the same ballpark when obnoxious people are barking at you during lunch hour.

Will a fast food restraunt not hire you if a relative works there?

None of the folks who've answered your question so far (other than Chris Brown) know what they're talking about. There is no way of knowing what the answer is.
Each chain is going to have different rules for hiring people, and most often things like whether or not they will hire family is going to be left up to the individual franchisee. So the Steak and Shake may have no problem with hiring relatives while the one fifty miles away will have a "No Family" hiring policy.
The only people who know the answer to your question are the people who work at the Steak and Shake restaurant where you've applied. With any luck the place you're where you're trying to get a job will hire relatives and your cousin (extended) can even give you a recommendation, keep your fingers crossed.

How come girls can have long hair in fast food but guys can't?

That's discrimination. My brother is manager at burger king and said he'd only hire me if I cut my hair because I pose a threat to "health and safety" standards. That's a cop-out to keep their conservative agenda going.

I said, "well there's girls working there and they have long hair. Just give me one of those nets and everything's ok."

Thank you for your time. We will consider you for this job opportunity and inform you if you get the job.

No surprise someone else gets hired.

50 years ago they were doing the same thing to black people.

What are the best fast food jobs a 16 year old with no experience can work in?

Forget fast food. If you can swing it, get a job as a busser or runner in a high-end pizza restaurant. My sister, who worked a variety of restaurant jobs, tells me these types of eateries offer the most bang for the buck — or rather, the least work for the paycheck.Pizzas are usually served presliced on a platter. You put out the plates and the diners help themselves. Other dishes are generally shared — maybe a salad or side of garlic bread. Even drinks are often served in pitchers. So instead of dealing with 12 items per four top (four salads, four entrees, four drinks), you might have two or three. With fewer dishes means fewer things to go wrong. Family style dining exponentially lowers the risk that any one person will have an issue with their meal. Especially with pizza — as long as the toppings are right, the customers will usually be happy. None of this “sending my burger because the bun was too charred on the edges.”And if it’s a higher end place, the table total can easily reach $75-$100. (My sister worked at Amici’s in San Mateo, your local prices may vary.) You’ll get a cut of the tips, which you won’t working in a fast food place, and the tip rate’s the same as a place that serves plated entrees. You can find upscale pizza restaurants all over the country — even in suburbs and small town. I bet most Americans live within 10–15 miles of an Amici’s equivalent.Eventually, you might be promoted to server, and start to make decent money. That’s the advice I would give a 16 year old interested in working in foodservice. Don’t sell yourself short. Fast food can be grueling — my first job was at a Jack In The Box — and it’s true that often the lowest-paying jobs are often the worst.

What stores hire 15 year olds?

my sister in law worked for mcdonalds when she was 15.
i know most fast food stores that have a eat in area usually will hire 15ys to clean the eating area
you cant work in the kitchen.
places like Roses and Maxway will hire 15y boys for stock and cart pushers.
just ask what ever place it is your wanting to work if they hire 15 year olds (you have to go get a workers permit though)

Other than fast food, what is a good job for a 17 year old?

Anything where you can learn a transferrable skill on the job. Anything! If a company is going to pay you minimum wage to do their account books then one day you’ll be able to incorporate this skill into your own enterprise. If you cut carrots all day in a busy kitchen you’ll learn how a kitchen works and with this knowledge could become a very successful chef by knowing this environment from the basic processes that happen. Want to work as a boiler maker? Then make sure you can learn advanced welding skills and the aerospace industry will be an option. Take a job in a guitar store even if you can’t play. Work very hard for them. Look after their stock and customers to the best of your ability. It’ll be hard not to pick up basics and you’ll get free tips here and there. Essentially free lessons. You’ll be a virtuoso by the age of 30 even if you walk in there and don't know how to hold a guitar. If you like information then no job is below you in a public or college library and you’ll have access to all the information you could ever need to explore your avenues. At 17 don’t be swayed by a couple of extra dollars here or there. You are time rich and must use this to your advantage. Always be learning no matter what job you do. When I was 17 I cleaned the summer house of a very wealthy family on Martha’s Vineyard every day for four months. I made $75 a week which was nothing but I learned so much about the daily habits of a successful family. I learned how to fish, drive, play golf, cookery basics, shopping on a budget (oh the irony) and the value of education and friendships all by just turning up for work. I also learned how to fix an out board engine and that reminds me of an Australian we met in Vancouver years ago. He knew his way round a marine diesel engine and it’s electrics. When we were all struggling for work he rocked up at the marina looking for work and offered to fix up a sad looking engine in the corner that was condemned. He did such a good job of it that before long word got round and he couldn’t keep up with the demand for his services. It’s a shame that he didn’t do the rostering at Maccas when he was 17 because he’d then have the skills to be able to manage a few extra bodies to take on all this surplus work. What skill are you going to learn on your next job? Make sure you check with the boss first. Good luck!
