Can Hotels Override Credit Limit

Do You Know Many Credit Card Companies Are Also Doing This?

Besides raising interest rates many are shortening due dates. Mine went from 4 weeks to 3. My friend's went from 30 days to 15. Some companies are also holding your check for several days so it will be recorded as a late payment. If your payment is late they will charge a late fee and raise your interest. Check your statement every month, pay as soon as possible, and read everything they send you, even if it appears to be promotional junk. They're already getting enough of our money, don't let them take anymore!

How much commission is booking.com charging their partner hotels?

Yes, 15% is the standard commission rate charged by Booking.com. What's more than the commission is the guest data that these online travel agencies (OTAs) gain from booking transactions. When a guest books a hotel stay through an OTA, the OTA has rights to large amounts of valuable guest data (email address, home address, credit card information and any other relevant guest data). So, not only are the OTAs getting 15% of the transaction, but they are also keeping valuable guest data that the hotels are not receiving. This reflects the double threat that OTAs impose on hotels. The only way to combat this threat is to drive up direct hotel bookings through advertising and other channels, but this is a substantial challenge.

What would happen if you went over the weight limit on an elevator/lift?

If the elevator has a load weighing feature, it won't run. If it does not, you are probably good to at least 25% overload, but different things will stop working with different elevators depending on the design and choice of components and in which direction you are travelling. Motors will often stall because they are not built for the overload, hydraulics will bypass in the up direction and overspeed somewhat in the down direction. Steel cables may start to slide and then the overspeeding will trip the emergency overspeed safety braking device. Most of these scenarios will result in you getting trapped in the elevator, but seldom will do permanent damage to the elevator unless the overload starts to get into the range of 150% to 200% of the rated load. I have seen this type of thing happen when people have driven fork lifts into regular passenger elevators - not typically a pretty sight and a very expensive long repair.

Can a chip and signature credit card be made to require a PIN when used outside the U.S.?

Ultimately it is the shop keeper and their acquiring method that drives card acceptance.  In Europe nearly all merchants will only accept cards that are docked in a Chip & PIN machine, many refusing to accept signature.  This is linked to the liability, if a customer does a PIN transaction, the merchant is protected. If the card doesn't have a chip (very rare) then some shop/restaurant/hotel staff will swipe the magstrip and present a slip of paper for signature.  Very 20th Century. From a technology perspective, the chip on a card has room for a number of Applications (Application ID's) which then determine how the card behaves when it's docked in a chip and PIN reader at point-of-sale.  It is possible for the card to be programmed to override the merchant ceiling limits / offline rule set to force an online authorisation where available.  This is the standard setting for European prepaid card which should always go online for authorisation to protect against negative balances.

Can I get a cash advance through an ATM with a debit card?

The answer yes but one thing to keep in mind is that the money you get from an ATM machine by using your debit card is actually your money. It means that you must have enough available balance in your bank account in order to be able to withdraw money from the ATM. Otherwise, you would be using money that belongs to the bank and not to you.If you meant to ask if you are able to get an advance cash loan through the ATM machine by using your debit card then the answer is no. You might still be able to withdraw money from the ATM machine even if the available funds in your bank account are either insufficient or you have reached a zero balance point. However, that type of loan is a negative loan that is deemed unacceptable and questionable and which will only bring you issues rather than any positive solution because you owe money to the bank when you use an amount of funds that is greater to the one available in your bank account and of top of that; the bank will charge you an overdraft fee for surpassing the limit. For example, let us pretend that the funds available in your bank account is 20 but you are able to withdraw 100. Now you owe 80 to the bank plus they will charge you 35. So you owe 115 in total to the bank because you were allowed to use money that is not yours and of if you do not pay it all back to the bank and in a timely manner then your debt will keep on increasing and there will be further and greater consequences. The way to obtain money through the ATM machine is that you must insert your debit card into the ATM.The second step is to input your debit card personal pin number by using the ATM keyboard. And then press the button ENTER which is usually the green button in most ATM's.The next step after entering your correct debit card pin number at the ATM machine is to press the “withdraw” option from the ATM's menu options. After you select the withdrawal option from the ATM's menu option; the next step is to enter the exact amount of money that you want to withdraw from the ATM machine. You must also select where the money will come from. Either from your bank checking account or from your bank savings account because a debit card is linked to your bank account. Then if you have enough available balance in your bank account or if your bank agrees to proceed and give you the money even though your funds are insufficient then the ATM will dispense the cash for you to receive it.
