Why are veterinarians underpaid?
I heard that starting salaries for vets are anywhere from $40k-$60k. The highest 10% of all vets make around $130k and the lowest 10% make around $40k. Why is there such a huge difference? Vets have to go to school as much as medical doctors (MD's), and admission into veterinarian school is just about as hard as admission into medical school (there are only 28 vet schools in America). Why are vets paid so low?
