Yes you can. There’s no restriction on number of laptops one can carry on flight. I always carry at least two (one is for work and another one is personal). The only problem is we have to take out two of them from our bags and keep in two separate bins :) except that there is no rule or regulation for domestic carriers at least.If you travel on international airlines, they do have some weight restrictions (max 7kgs) for personal items apart from check in bags. When I travel from India, everytime I faced this issue, when I fly from US to India no one really weighed my backpack, only weighed the carryon and said ok. But when I come from India, they always weigh backpack and carryon together and object everytime for overweight. So be careful in those scenarios.
Leaving Cell Phones on while in-flight?
The reason cell phones have to be turned off for take-off, taxi and landing is because they are too much of a distraction. These are the most dangerous times in a flight and the flight crew needs passengers to be relatively attentive in case there are emergency instructions that need to be given. If you're yakkin away on your cell and there's something wrong with the plane, you won't pay attention to the exit instructions, and you might be in a situation where every second counts. Unlikely, true, but very possible. That's also why the shades are raised for takeoff and landing (you can see outside to make sure the exit you have chosen is clear) and why ALL your electronics need to be put away. In flight, cell phones aren't going to work--- you're moving too fast to maintain a signal with any of the ground-based cell towers. So your phone will drop calls repeatedly. And flight attendants have too many things to do, to be spending time with every third passenger who wants to know why their cell doesn't work. So you gotta put them away for the first and last parts of the flight because you need your full attention in case of a crash, and they don't work in the middle of the flight--- easier just to tell everyone to put them away for the duration. PS some older technology, especially 2-way pagers, DOES interfere with the onboard navigational equipment but most new cell phones don't.

I've flown with a big mess of cords. phone charger, ipod charger, laptop charger, headphones, you name it. I'm shocked they didn't want to look to make sure it wasn't some kind of coiled up bomb of some sort, but I have never been checked. I fly with the same mess of wires about once every 2-3 weeks and I have never been stopped for it. Come to think of it, the only time I've had my bag inspected was for forgetting to take my ziplock bag full of liquids out. They opened my backpack, saw my ziplock bag and sent me about my way. They don't like going through your stuff any more than you like them doing it.

Hey I just landed from United States in Mumbai and here are the duty limits So Ideally you shouldn't exceed 45000 limit and you will be good to take the green channel. If you have more than 45000 you will have to enter the red channel. So if you want to get phones please keep them in your pocket and not cabin baggage or checked in luggage. They will be scanned. Also if you have done the mistake of keeping them in checked in luggage you can look for a X mark on your bag. Usually those bags will be scanned and opened. So if your bag has an X mark, take the phone and keep in pocket. So the basic model of iPhone will not be charged duty if you just get that. I know musicians that travel and have had their instruments damaged when checking them in as luggage. Some of them have gone as far as to buy a ticket for their instrument, so that it can sit in its own seat. Many airlines will sell these tickets at half fare. This certainly is the safest route. You can always talk to the airline before traveling. They have allowed me to store a trombone in one of the closets for the airline attendants before. This is an ideal situation--free and safe! Lol I think its funny that you ask this, since I own the worlds most traveled teddy bear! I seriously bring him with me wherever I go. He has been all over the world and I can tell you that as long as you buy the bear at the airport you can take it on without it being in your carry on luggage. If not, then it MUST be put into your carry on. My poor Coda gets squished into my backpack for every trip! :oP I would pre-buy it. What if the SF Airport doesnt have a cute one? Then youre out of luck!!! Just stuff him into your bag, teddy bears are okay with being squished for a bit! Have a fun trip!!!

I just got off of a 2 hour plane fide 5 hours ago (my first) and can tell you whats up. First of all the first few thousand feet all electronics must be off regardless of signal or not. Then you can turn on approved electronics such as ipods, laptops without signal, and cell phones on airplane mode( cant recieve signal). But some flights offer Wifi so you can get online on the plane, the only problem is it costs about $7.99 a plane ride depending, and a good trick for not being nervous is dont look!! its as simple as that, it worked for me!! hope you have a great plane trip!!!
