Can I Buy A Fuel Gauge For A Dirtbike

How would you fix a 2005 yamaha ttr 125 dirtbike with no compression?

hi ive got a 2005 yamaha ttr 125 dirtbike that i bought for my kids. Bought the bike brand new from the yamaha shop, and it was ridden over that summer it probably has around 30hours ride time at the most and then it was parked for about two years in a insulated building with a wood floor in it. well i went back to start it and as i suspected it wouldn't start the carb and the fuel tank and fuel valve were all clogged up so i took the gas tank off cleaned out the gas put fresh gas in, cleaned the carb and the float needle and the main jet and idle jet put it all back together, cleaned the fuel valve to put it all back together. then i changed the oil and added a new plug and the bike still wouldn't start. i know the plug is gettin gas because when i crank it over the plug is wet with gas and for some reason as it cranks it trys to backfire out of the carburetor, and once when i was cranking it over it actually blew the carb off the engine and a big fire ball came out of it. the piston is workin up and down but i checked to see if it had any compression with my thumb and it wouldn't blow my finger off the hole to me it doesn't seem like it has much compression at all. i can't figure this out this bike is almost the same as in new condition. i cranked it over and over and over and over and it would not start. i looked at the valves and they are working up and down the way they are supposed to at this point im not to sure what could be wrong with it. only to me i think its not gettin enough compression but i don't see how it could have lost any when it did run perfect before it was parked so i can't see how anything would've messed it up. The motors not locked up or anything. i aslo cleaned the choke plunger too and the plug is getting spark a nice bright blue spark. does anyone know what the problem could be? if anyone could tell me id greatly appreciate it i would like to get it fixed for my kids for Christmas thanks and any help on fixing this is greatly appreciated merry Christmas everyone thanks again

No fuel gauge on a motorcycle?

I've just completed my MSF course, and now I am going out to look for motorcycles. I have done some internet research, and from what I have seen, there is no fuel gauge on a lot of the bikes I'm looking at. (Cruiser-type). How am I supposed to know when the bike is actually running low on gas? Thanks.

Are dirt bike spark plugs and car spark plugs the same thing?

I want to know if there the same thing because my friend said they are but I don't think so. so if you could please help that would be much appreciated!! thanks!

Can I buy a fuel gauge for a dirtbike?

I'm not sure but I think trail tech computers have it.
If it doesn't then you can still figure out when you need to refuel the tank.
You gotta look at your mileage though. So next time you fill up your tank all the way up count how many miles it takes before you have to put it on reserve. Generally it would be the same amount of miles every time. You will get used to this.

My bike also has no fuel gauge... Or tach... or speedo... or odometer.... (I got this trip miles thing that only goes up to 99 miles before I have to reset it but it helps me with the gas and what not.

If you don't want to do that just look for another bike with a fuel gauge.

I have a 1994 DR350 and I would usually be able to tell when I need to fill it up just by looking inside the tank.

How do i know if my dirt bike needs piston rings?

My kx100 stopped running in the middle of a full throttle str8 away. it has bogged out b4, also cut off from idling problems.... but this was the first time it cut off from a full throttle take off. i knew something was wrong because it never did this b4. i tried changing the spark plugs, gas and other little minor things, but none work so i figured it was a mechanical issue. when i kick it like 5 or 6 times, it will backfire really loudly but never turn over. n it doesnt backfire everykick. I LOVE MY BIke n really wanna fix it jus dont want to buy piston rings if thas not what the problem is. Can ne1 help or had a similar problem???? how cud i diagnose if it is a piston ring problem or whatelse could it be. only other trouble it gave me was the 2nd gear was sticking a lil bit so i know i need a clutch kit but that wouldnt cause it to cut off. Ty

Is there any need to turn off the fuel on my bike when not in use?

Thanks for A2A. Believe it or not a large portion of petrol is trapped in carburator, like 30ml or so, and will evaporate mostly if switch is on... now i did mention the amount to say that you have a way burn that fuel and without wasting it. Whenever you are garaging your vehicle for the day, make sure to stop the fuel 100meters before you reach. This will burn most of the trapped fuel and give you a better mileage. Its madetory to turn of fuel whenever in the day it will be parked for more than 3 to 4hours. These are thumb rules i follow and got really good results. Hope it helps .

4 stroke dirt bike air cooled has white smoke!! HELP!!!?

Ok, to answer all of your questions.
The valves and rings are in the combustion chamber.
Yes, oil is leaking into the combustion chamber due to worn valve seals or worn piston rings.
There are usually three rings on a 4-stroke. Compression ring, oil ring and wiper ring.
The rings are inside the combustion chamber around the piston.
Yes you will have to take the engine apart to replace the piston rings.
Yes you can figure out how to take the engine apart yourself, but it is not that easy. Make sure you have a shop manual for your engine before you tear into the engine.
The gunk on the outside of the spark plug is oil being forced out of a spark plug that has a cracked or separated insulator.
The fizzing is the cracked or separated insulator and yes it is a problem.
It will just wear out more until it wears out so bad that the piston starts slapping, cracks and grenades.

I didn't think about it, but Stampy Skunk made a good point, make sure you haven't over filled the engine oil. I take it for granted that people don't fill it up like a gas tank. You should only have about 650cc's of oil in there.

You need a top end rebuild. It is going to run you a couple thousand bucks if you take it in. You need new valve seals, a valve job, bore, new timing chain, piston, piston rings, top end bearings and gaskets. Even if you take the engine apart yourself, you will still have to take it in for a bore job. You need to replace your spark plug ASAP. You can prolong the problem by getting a spark plug that is hotter than stock. This will help burn off the oil that is leaching into the cylinder.

It will make a nice winter project for you. My advice is to take a digital camera out to the garage with you. Photograph as you remove parts. Sometimes shop manuals might be a little vague and your own pictures might help you remember how it goes. The toughest part when rebuilding a 4-stroke is the cam timing. I always magic marker the shafts and gears at 12 o'clock, drawing a line on the shaft and cam gear, crank shaft and crank gear. You then double check it with the timing marks before and after you rebuild it.

Good luck

How can you calculate how much fuel your motorcycle requires to reach a full tank?

The gas gauge is a good tool, or putting a stick into the tank until it reaches bottom, withdrawing it and marking it, then using that before you fill up.Trying to use the odometer or trip meter is a bad way to judge, as head verses tail wind, how much you twist the throttle when taking off makes a big difference in gas mileage. As an example, my Kawasaki Concours ZG1000 has gotten from 32 MPG on one tank and 53 MPG on another tank, the difference was head wind only. Note that I have a smartphone App that I’ve used for about 5,000 miles on this bike. Every bike that I’ve had has proven to be the same. Once on my 1999 Kaw Nomad with an average gas mileage of 37 MPG, I tried for the best gas mileage that I could get. Every take off was with about as little throttle as could be safely used, on every stop I would start coasting a long way before stopping, and I got over 47 MPG on that one tank.
