Can I Change My Name Or Get A Second Name.

Marriage? Should I change my last name ???

I am a very independent young woman with a career that works very well for me. I am myself first and have always been who I am.

When I got married, I didn't drop my last name, but added his next to my maiden name. So I technically have two last names. I use both for legal documents. My maiden last name is used for my career, and my married name is sometimes used for personal situations.

I have been this person for my whole life and it is a part of me. For me, taking on his last name and dropping my last name, felt like I would be changing who I am and I would be "his possession" instead of a life's companion.

Many couples combine both last names...including the men. Sometimes the man will drop his last name and take his wife's name. You need to do what fits your personality and life-style.

Father is deceased, should I change my child's last name?

I guess to add to the story... my partner was extremely abusive for the last 6 months of our relationship (we suspect bipolar disorder). After my friends and family urged me to leave, I finally did. He committed suicide the next day.

The paternal side of his family are also huge jerks (with his last name). I have many good memories of him before he "lost it," but I probably won't be in contact with his father's side of the family. The healthier side (his mother's side) has a different last name.

Also, I am a professional with an established reputation so I won't change my name. Having my children have the same last name will lessen the number of times I have to pull out the death certificate to prove he has passed and I am not kidnapping the children. My youngest is 9 months, so will not be affected name change. (My partner and I had a deal...he won the first child's last name in a coin toss, the second child was to have my last name.)

Would you still keep it?

Can someone in the United Kingdom change their surname to Mountbatten-Windsor, the proper last name of the Royal Family? What if a foreigner changed their name and then moved into the United Kingdom?

Yeah…help yourself.Perhaps ‘Tarquin Fin-tim-lin-bin-whin-bim-lim-bus-stop-F'tang-F'tang-Olé-Biscuitbarrel’ might suit? The above was used in a Monty Python sketch, but someone actually changed their name to it.Basic rule of thumb…As long as it’s not obscene or overtly racist…You can call yourself what you like…Be assured others might call you something else entirely.Try ‘Will i am’, I’d love to see if he’d take you to Court on a copy-write issue.Taking ‘Mountbatten-Windsor’ as a name does show a little lack of imagination - were you hoping it would allow you to crash at Buck House or Sandringham for free? How about taking a leaf from George Garret of Glastonbury - he’s changed his name too…Captain Fantastic Faster Than Superman Spiderman Batman Wolverine Hulk And The Flash CombinedTeenager changes name to Captain FantasticOr how about Tyrannosaurus Rex?And note what happened to him……..Or maybe…Just stick with the name you were born with UNLESS..is it really embarrassing???Are you…ororor

How do I change the last name in a booked flight ticket?

During international travel most of the flight does not allow to change the last name of the passenger. Whenever you told them to change it they simple tell you to cancel the ticket and rebook it again. But as per my personal experience , You need not to worry about it. You just have a online checkin of the flight prior to airport. During checkin , you are requested to type down name as per passport. Here you can simple type the original name as per passport. Ground crew of the flight doesn’t bother it. as you have already checked in. They only process luggage bags.Further during immigration check they checked only boarding pass and passport.Once I have faced this issue, but didn’t change the ticket and travel easily. This may be my good luck !!

Do adopted children have to change last names?

When we adopted our daughter her name was automatically legally changed to our last name. She was even reissued a new birth certificate listing myself and my husband as the parents. I suppose we could have petitioned the courts to keep her old last name or done the legal paperwork to change it back to her original last name. We felt that having the same last name as the rest of us would help her feel more like part of us as her new family.Unfortunately 7 years later, she says she hates our last name and wants to revert to her old last name.. She will soon be 18 and if she wants to do this legally I will support her.Whatever her name, a rose by any other name would smell as sweet. She is the child of my heart and I will always thank God that I get to be one of her mothers. I recognize she has another mother. If she wants to go by the other last name, I won't say it wouldn't hurt, but ultimately I recognize that she does have two family identities. What is most important is supporting and loving her as she grows into and creates her own identity and place in the world.
