Can i sue sister over mobile phone contract in my name?
I got a mobile contract for my sister in my name in may this year for 24 months. She has paid the bills untill now when she got a new partner and run up a £131.00 bill she has done this before and i paid off over £800 she owed me so i know how stupid i was. Its the same pattern as last time she ignores my calls and texts. Tried to help as much as i can. Had a breakdown last time this time this happened the stress was to much this time i want to take action against her. Is it possible to take her to court to make her pay this bill aswell as the remaining months of the contract which ends in may 2014. Would appreciate any help

Legally you can change your name at anytime in your life. but you have to pay money to do it. Best to go to your local courthouse and get the change name form and some information on the steps... I had a friend who enter air force and then changed his name after 1 year.
Is it legal to get out of a contract by changing your name?
If you have already contracted, and the contract is in force, a name change does not change anything. The new name would hold good for whatever new things you would do. It is very simple : rights and liabilities cannot get extinguished by a mere change in name.

You would have to call the electric company to have the electricty turned off. Your roommate then needs to turn it back on in his name. As for the lease, your lease is a binding contract between you and your landlord. Your landlord has to be willing to let you out of the lease.

Why do US carriers change phone names?
I would say it's mostly Marketing. They are taking a several year old phone and rebranding it for the budget market.A Shiney brand new Attain for free! sounds much more appealing than a 3 or 4 year old GS2 marked down to nothing because it's 4 generations old.

Not aware of processes in other countries, i would imagine it would be similar if not the same.
