Can I Connect My Linksys Router To My Att Wireless Modem

Does a linksys wireless router work with AT&T DSL?

We just switched from Cox high speed internet to AT&T DSL. I tried hooking up the router to get wireless on my laptop but it didn't work. Do I need to do something specific or will LINKSYS not work with DSL?

Can you set up any Linksys router to a modem from AT&T?

That's a pretty broad question. Any Linksys router +and+ any AT&T Router (because you didn't specify which one, what AT&T Service, ...)Um, I probably could. The question is can you?Anyway you would need to know what Interfaces the AT&T router has. Most consumer ... e.g. xDSL ... router will have at least wired Ethernet. Many will have built-in WiFi. Most Linksys router would also have wired Ethernet. Usually most consumers would just plug Linksys WAN port into a LAN port on AT&T router. But that incurs NAT 2 times ... double-NAT. I usually go from LAN port to LAN port on both and use the 1 DHCP Server (and SLAAC for ipV6) of the xDSL router for every client - transparently (bridging / switching) through the Linksys on its other LAN ports and WiFI. It makes it much less complicated. And just configure Linksys's management IP Address on the same Subnet as xDSL (AT&T) router. Thusly it is easy to get to from any computer on the LAN.

What are some Xfinity Internet compatible wireless router/modem that I can buy?

I'm not aware of any name brand equipment that won't work with Comcast.  I've used Asus, Linksys, Enterasys, Cisco and Meraki.  I would imaging NetGear, Dlink, and Trendnet will work just fine as well.More important are the protocols supported by the equipment.  You want WPA2, not WPA or WEP.  If it supports WPA2 Enterprise, and not just WPA PSK, that's even better. As far as other specs go, you want something that handles 802.11n, 802.11a, and 802.11g.  The device should support dual band (5GHz and 2.4GHtz) If it supports 802.11ac, that's even better.  If your laptop (or planned laptop) doesn't support 802.11ac, buy it anyways, if you can afford it.  You will upgrade, and your next computer will support 802.11ac, most likely.Understand that Comcast will give you a WiFi acess point as part of your service in many of their service area cities, so you don't even need to buy one of your own.  Their appliance will have the xfinitywifi SSID, and any Xfinity customer can use it, they just have to be within range.  If that sounds like a deal breaker, understand, that as an Xfinity customer you can use anybody else's xfinitywifi, so it works out.  You can even do both simulatanously if you like.Understand that regardless of which way you go, Comcast does monitor for abuse and things.  If it's on xfinitywifi, they know who to go after.  If it's on your SSID, well, they send you a nice note.

Can I use an At&t wireless router (2wire) with my Comcast modem (Arris)?

The 2Wire device is a gateway -- that means it's a modem and router all-in-one. When you hook it up to your new Comcast modem, it's getting confused because it's trying to be a modem, too. If you want to use it as a router ONLY and have the Arris be the modem in your network, you would need to access the 2Wire's firmware and change some settings to disable the modem functionality. I'm not sure, but AT&T's firmware might be locked down so you can't do that.

So the short answer: probably easier to go pick up a new wireless router of your own. Wireless N is best! :)

Can I replace my 2Wire with modem and router?

I have AT&t internet service and someone from there came and installed a generic 2Wire modem/router combo to the phone line. I have 2 desktops that have to be connected wirelessly although they are fairly close. My question is: Can I just unplug the 2Wire and plug in the cables to a D-link or something router and modem that I buy.

If so, where do I plug in the cable line, Ethernet, battery, and phone lines(Mainly asking to which device... modem or router)

Finally, After I set it up, would I have wireless or would I have to do something extra? (I have a PCI card on one desktop and USB Adapter on the other)

Thanks in advance :)

Can't connect to the internet with AT&T DSL modem and Netgear router?

I have AT&T DSL, and yesterday I replaced my ailing Linksys wireless router with a new Netgear N150 wireless router. After installing the router, and getting everything (seemingly) running, I tried to access the internet. I was redirected to an AT&T "password update" page that told my there was a discrepancy between my network password and the password I was using to access the internet. It sent me through a "self-solve" application that didn't solve anything, and then told me to call tech support. I've called AT&T tech support (a few times), and they have told me that they can't troubleshoot third party routers, but they have reset my password so that I can access the internet without using my router, just using the modem. This isn't very helpful, since the majority of internet usage in my house is done wirelessly.
After researching this issue and trying many remedies I find myself still ending up on this stupid password update page. The only thing I can guess is that this might have something to do with the "DSL password decoupling" thing that AT&T put into effect in June.
Is there any help out there for me??
I appreciate any insight!!!
Thanks!

AT&T Router work for Cox connection?

It depends on whether or not that is a router or a wireless dsl modem. If it is a wireless dsl modem it will not work with Cox services. If it is a wireless router like a linksys, netgear, or d-link it will work. If you need a router for your cox services I would suggest using a linksys or netgear router. Reason being is because in our home networking department we only can provide support for linksys or netgear routers since those are routers that we at cox sell.

What is the best modem and router combo to use with AT&T Internet?

I am assuming that AT&T has provided you with a combo unit. You better off using the modem/router combo that AT&T provided. And I am saying this because the more fancier units, require Ttelecom nohow to configure and customize. If you are shopping for a combo unit, Any vendor will do. There is no BEST. If there is vendor you are familiar with, then stay with that vendor. In choosing a model here are some questions you might ask yourself:Do I need WifiHow far a range do I need, How large is the house or officeIs this going to be shared by others? who? public? then you need firewall and VPNDo you like having a shared Hard drive on the network?
