Can I Dye My Hair More Than Once To Achieve The Color I Want

Can you re-dye you hair after you've dyed it once before?

40 volume developer is really harsh -usually used only off the scalp for bleaching streaks because of how much it stings.
Surprisingly ,you are more likely to get the results you want by simply doing the same thing over again (color and 20 volume )because now you hair is already lighter.
For the sake of not irritating your scalp wait at least 48 hours before applying dye again so its pH is back to normal. If you really can't wait-like you need this haircolor for an event-use an apple-cider vinegar rinse to restore your scalp's pH to normal and do the color tomorrow morning.

To make the rinse put 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in a cup of water comb through your hair like a conditioner especially at the scalp, wait 10 minutes then rinse it out.Good Luck!

Can i dye my hair more than once a week?

I defiantly wouldn't recommend it! It can seriously damage your hair. I dyed mine that same color and my hair stylist gave me a clarifying shampoo (a shampoo that strips out the color, brightens blonde) by Matrix called, alternate action. I bought mine for $11 or $12 at a beauty salon. Use this shampoo for a week, maybe skipping a couple days during the week, and keep doing that, gradually using it less, until you find the right color you want. Don't use it for weeks straight cause it can turn your hair green (the color of the shampoo =/ ) For more info about this go to:

http://www.matrix.com/products/matrix_es...

it doesn't show the price or anything, because you can only buy it at beauty salons.
This worked really good on me & I reccomend using it!
Trust me, this is healthier way to change the color of your hair than dying it!

Hope I helped =D

I want to dye my hair a pastel color. What products are recommended?

For dying your hair to a pastel colour you need to first bleach it to make it blonde, if you dye dark hair pastel it wont show any good results. For the bleach I would recommend any 20 vol. developer (safest option)to be used with bleach powder, both are availible separately as well as in combo packs. I would suggest you to buy them individually if you have long hair, for short hair combo packs will suffice. As bleaching leaves your hair extemely dry I would recommend you to apply coconut oil on your hair a day before bleaching it, apply bleach on unwashed hair. You might need to bleach your hair more than once to get the desired results. In certain cases toner could also be required to remove brassiness from blonde hair, as toner is also used in combination of the developer only use it if you want to dye your hair with a really light colour.I would suggest you to condition your hair and apply hair masks between successive bleaching sessions, also try to ensure that you leave some days between each bleaching session. Ideally you must’nt bleach your hair more than twice.Once you have blonde hair dying it is the easy part. You just need to apply the dye on your hair, wait for the required time and then wash it off.Products I have used and would recommend :Developer:Schwarzkopf Igora Royal 6% 20 Vol. Colorist's Color & Care Developer 33.8 oz (1 Liter)or Indola Profession Cream Developer Oxydant Creame 6%-20vol.Bleach powder:Indola Profession Rapid Blond+Toner:Wella Color Charm Liquid Toner #T14 Pale Ash BlondeHair dye:Crazy Color Capri Blue - Semi Permanent Hair ColorYou can choose from a wide variety of colour fron Crazy color, manic panic is also another brand you can try.Note: As I had dyed my hair capri blue I realised that toning was not really necessary after bleaching my hair twice, as the dye was dark enough to not require perfectly blonde hair, it just made my hair coarser. Also dying yourself will only prove to be economical if you plan to retouch you roots from time to time otherwise going to a salon could actually be cheaper if you only want to do it once.

Can I dye my hair twice in the same day with the same color? I dyed it before since I missed a few spots.

I had a girlfriend who wanted to impress me once. She had mousy-brown hair and wanted it to be red, without bleaching it first. So she dyed it at home, and when that didn't take, she dyed it again, same day.I'm not sure if words can describe the result. Let me start with what her hair looked like before. Her hair was normal weight, wavy, and medium length, just below the top of her shoulders. A full rich lovely head of hair.  Before, that is.After... How to say this... She chemically burned off over half of her hair follicles, causing massive hair loss and blisters to erupt all over her scalp. The thin stringy hair that remained was so brittle that most of it snapped at various lengths, ranging from a quarter inch long to just about half way off her head.  There were a few strands that remained full length. She spent three weeks massaging ointment into her remaining hair to treat her sore, blistered, oozing scalp.  She wore a cloth bandana to cover her head. She couldn't wear a tight fitting hat because the combination of ointment and ooze would cause the hat to stick to her head, risking skin (and more hair) to be pulled off when removing the hat.It took about four months to get normal hair back. She is never allowed to dye her hair, ever again, doctor's orders. To say that she made an impression is an understatement.First off, I'm not saying this will happen to you. Heaven forbid. The ER doctor told us that her body had gone into allergic shock due to the multiple attempts at hair dye. It's not a common reaction.Secondly, clearly, this is a worst case scenario. I do not believe this will happen to a random stranger I've never met on Quora.I'm sharing this because I want you to realize that the human body is complex and the variation between individuals can be great. Something that works once, may not work twice, and something that works for someone else may not work for you.Better be safe than sorry. This message is 100% true. I'll never get the sight of her hair out of my mind.

Dye hair more than once in 24 hours?

always to a strand test!!!

do i have this right? the new colour is blue?
which means unless your hair is almost all white, you need to prelighten.

the only way it will turn to mush is if:

1 you have prelightened too much
2 it is a strong developer, more than 20 vol.
3 you leave it on a long time

any or all of these things could result in damage

Is it dangerous to dye your hair more than once a day?

First, you have to bleach your dark hair to get the color out so you can color it blond. Just putting colors in steps is not going to lighten your hair. To answer your question, yes, it will damage your hair. If you can afford it and this is what you want, go to a good salon and have them do it. Messing around with bleach is no easy matter and you might wind up going to a salon to have them correct the mess you may make if you do it yourself.

I want get my hair dyed blue, how much will that cost?

Lara I Lord is completely correct.Any hairstylist worth their salt won’t tell you how much it’ll cost before seeing your hair and discussing exactly what you want. They might give you a range, but even that can drastically change once they see what they’re working with. There are so many factors when it comes to dying hair, especially when it comes to fashion colors.Hair length, texture, and density can drastically change price. Someone with hair down to their waist isn’t going to pay the same price as someone with a pixie cut, and someone with super thick hair isn’t going to pay the same as someone with much finer, thinner hair, simply because there’s more hair to deal with, which means more product and more time. Hair color is also a factor, both the natural color and whether or not it’s been dyed (and what color it’s been dyed). Of course the darker the hair, the more likely it is that you’ll need to lighten the hair more than once to get it light enough to take the fashion color properly, and that likelihood goes up if it’s dyed a dark color instead of naturally a dark color. Whether you’ve used box dye or got it done professionally can also make a difference, as darker box dyes often won’t lift out of hair nearly as easily as professional color. That means more product, multiple lightening sessions, and more time. Even the shade of blue can change the price, since sometimes darker blues can be put over a darker blonde and still take well, while brighter and/or lighter blues need to have very light blonde, almost platinum, to take properly without tinting green. You really do get what you pay for. Lara was absolutely right that you should call around and ask for someone who is specifically trained or who specializes in fashion colors. Make sure you ask for a consultation before setting up the appointment so you can talk to the stylist and make sure that y’all are on the same page, and go over pricing. As long as you are reasonable and have a reasonable budget, or are willing to compromise, a good stylist should be able to work with you to help you get what you want, or at least get you as close as possible. Or they should tell you up front that it isn’t possible, either at all or within that budget. Typically, salons will offer complimentary consultations, so there’s nothing to lose!Good luck!

Can I dye my hair with two different colors in one day?

I would be able to advise more accurately seeing the level of your current hair color, but here are some important basics to know:If you put a store-bought color system on your hair at your level (same darkness) or darker, then it is just depositing the pigment into your hair. If you put a store-bought color system on your hair lighter than your current level, then it will slightly lighten and deposit pigment (even if it's not labeled as a "bleach" it can still lift your color with the ammonia in most color formulas). It is impossible to get predictable highlights (using lifting/lightening) without bleach, especially if you've just colored over it. This is because the color eliminating molecules in lifting formulas have to "eat through" the synthetic  pigment you just colored over your hair on top of your existing natural pigments! If you are trying to achieve a richer base shade (close to your natural color) with a subtle lighter shade to give your hair natural dimension, it is best to see a professional who can do both processes safely, usually in one appointment. There is always the possibility that at home hair color kits have developers in them that are way too strong for your hair (manufactures do this because the color systems have to be strong enough to work on all different textures and levels of hair) and can cause major damage.I know that most DIY hair dye jobs I see are either too subtle to please the client or too damaging and their hair gets fried. I'm not going to tell you that ALL at home dye kits are bad, but they are not personalized or predictable, so I say proceed with caution!

Can I use the same bottle of hair dye more than once ?

Is it just the dye? Or is it the mix (dye+oreor cream/developer) ??

If its just the dye its okay to use...I do that all the time lol but if its the mix, I wouldnt go using it and most likely the chemical reaction is dead lol but this is for the mixed version.

Good luck with that :)

Oh and if you dont find your answer here then just call Sallys Beauty Supply Store:D They know alot about hair dyes :D

Can I put blonde hair color on already bleached hair?

Of course you can put blonde hair dye on bleached hair. It’s a matter of how damaged your hair already is. So ask yourself some questions before grabbing the dye.Are you buying box dye or mixing your own? While box dye is quite a bit cheaper if you are doing this once (hard to believe), it works differently on different hair types. So while a dye might work great in my hair, it might melt yours. Something you have to figure out over time.Or. you can get it done by a salon.Do you have extra curricular activities that could damage your hair more? (i.e. Swimming)Be careful about swimming with bleached hair. Green or dry hair can happen to anyone. How often do you already bleach your hair? You do not want to over process your hair, else you have to cut it off and start over. Can you dedicate time to applying a hair mask at least once a week? This is personal. Not everyone has to do this, but I reccommend it to any of my friends wanting to dye their hair. I do it and my hair has survived being toned and bleached all the way to white. How do you feel about cold showers?Another personal one. Hot water can cause damage to your hair. You don’t have to shower exclusively in cold water, but 2–5 minutes of cold water at the end can not only make your hair shiny, but also improve your immune system (Two birds, one stone). What about dry hair?No matter what you do, bleaching and dying will dry out your hair. You will notice. So, as long as you don’t mind that, then go for it.What is your natural hair color?Naturally blonde hair is easier to bleach/dye because it doesn’t have to be processed as much. Brown and darker hair has more integrity (normally it is thicker) and can handle more dying, but it takes more to go lighter.Sooooo, all this and more comes into play when deciding whether or not you want to dye your hair.Good luck with your decision!
