Can I Get A Temporary Vehicle Registration In North Carolina

New Car registration in North Carolina?

Must have a valid Driver License/ID.

If there are co-owners to be recorded on a title, all signatures on required documents must be notarized and accompanied by a black and white copy of the alternate owner’s valid Driver License/ID or a Power of Attorney must be provided to sign for the co-owners.

If mailing in your title work, please provide a copy of your valid North Carolina Driver License.

If you are a new North Carolina resident moving from out-of-state, you must wait to register your vehicle until after you receive your official NC Driver License. The Temporary Driving Certificate (TDC) cannot be used to register a vehicle in North Carolina.

How do I obtain a temporary tag for my vehicle so I can drive it to get inspected and registered in North Caro?

Most states that require inspections will give you a 30 day temp plate when you register it from your friends name to yours. That temp plate will allow you to drive it the inspection place, and all over for 30 days actually, you will then have to return to the DMV with the inspection certificate to get the permanent plates. Keep in mind, you will only have 30 days to do this.

You legally cannot drive the car to anywhere until it is registered. Now if your friends plates are still good, you can drive it, only in some states though, a lot of states require the previous owner to take the plates off the car when they sell it. The best thing to do is call your nearest DMV office and get the straight scoop.

Can I disown a vehicle registered in my name that I don't have access to?

I recently had a serious falling out with my family and left home. My parents put one of their cars in my name a long time ago – for reasons that I never fully understood to begin with – and I just received a bill for the tax on that vehicle. I have no intention of ever speaking to or seeing my parents again, but I also have no desire to pay tax for a vehicle that I don’t even have access to. Is there some method for disowning the vehicle or forfeiting the registration? This is in North Carolina.

Problems with temporary license plates in NJ?

So here my story, my registration expires the 10th of Feb. and my plates expires the same day, my car is currently being financed just started in January. My dealer tells if I get pulled over to info the police that my dealer has the paperwork still in DMV but I think its lies. So my question is, is there a way to get my car registration and license plates myself at the DMV in NJ? And what is require to get them? The car is a 2010 car not that new, if that helps out. The car doesn't even have a inspection sticker on it :( I'm kinda scared to drive around without that kind of stuff up to date. The paperwork I have is the contract between me and the financed bank, the temporary registration and my insurance cards.. Do you think I can go to the NJ DMV with these paperwork and they can help me? Any suggestions? HELP ! :(

Dealership hasn't turned in car registration. Paper tag expires in 4 days. What do I do?

I purchased a newer car from a dealership on 10/8 and at that time they put a paper temporary tag on the car until the permanent one arrives. In NC those paper tags expire in 30 days. I just called the DMV office and they said they have no record of any new registration being applied for on my car and it does normally take about 15 days for that to be completed. They told me to contact the dealership to see when they turning the paperwork. I called the dealership and the girl I need to talk to has been busy all day. The receptionist said she's been trying to find her all day. I don't want to be riding around in my new car with an expired tag simply because the dealership hasn't turned in the paperwork to the DMV office so I can get my permanent one.

What do I do?
