Can I Get Into A Four Year College After Getting 2 F

Can i get into college with a D?

Wait, did you fail Chem for the quarter or the semester? Colleges only see your semester grades...
Either way,it's not great and you can cross out the Ivies from your list but some college will accept you. I didn't o great either. I got a D- in math for my semester and a D in Chem for the semester. But I'm applying to really easy colleges and my SAT score was decent so idk.

Would I have any chance of getting into these colleges?

I'm about to start junior year and am really hoping to step up my game. My first 2 years definantly not horrible but they could be a lot better. Freshman year I had all A's and B's and maybe 1 or 2 C's but my sophomore year was a little worse. I still maintained A's and B's in classes that just come easy to me but in others I kinda struggled because of awful teachers. I had 4 F's and and a couple D's on interums/ report cards but they were in English and Spanish. Will these grades effect getting in to a decent college. I'm not trying for a really hard college like UVA or something, but maybe Va Tech or GMU/JMU. Maybe ODU, VCU, RU, CNU? Thanks.

I'm in my junior year of college and still have a very low GPA (2.5). What should I do? Should I take another year to improve my GPA?

Hopefully these tips might help:1) If you have any Fs, see if retaking the course will affect your GPA.  Often the grades may be averaged such that earning an F and later an A will average to a C on your GPA and raise it. Some colleges may even replace the F with the newly-earned grade.2) Graduate and professional schools look for upward trends.  If your grades are mediocre in your first 2 years but you do very well in the last 60 credit hours, admissions committees will view this positively and likely won't hold your early years against you. Many schools accept 2.5+ GPA students, but you need to offset the grades issue with high test scores (GRE, LSAT, GMAT, etc).3) Utilize all the benefits your college has to offer to help your grades. This may include tutoring services, research and writing help, and mentoring.  Sometimes it's your study habits that need work and colleges have specialists there to help.4) Take a gap year.  Time off might help you refocus and get back on track when you return.  Studying abroad might also help; often the grades don't transfer so you can atleast earn credits and not see your GPA decrease.  5) Make sure your major is right for you. If your major GPA is lower than your overall GPA, then it might be a good idea to explore other majors to find an area where you can excel and that inspires you to work harder. Also, if you can afford a 5th year of college, that is something to consider. Only about 40% of US students graduate in 4 years, so it's not uncommon.  If you need an extra year to change majors to something you enjoy more or perform better at, a 5th year may be helpful. However, I would use a GPA goal/estimation calculator to see how much extra courses will add to your GPA. If you have to make straight As for a whole year and it only raises your GPA 0.2 points, it might not be worth it.  But again, many grad schools only look at last 60 credit hours so it might be helpful if you're really successful in your 3rd-4th or 4th-5th years.  As far as employment goes, a degree in hand with a 2.5 GPA is certainly enough to get a career started.Good luck!

4 f's and 2 d's freshman year can i still get in a good college?

Kid...theres always hope in high school. I LC'ed (loss credit) alot in high school doing things I should have not been doing like sleeping in everyday and missing 1st period and have no school spirit (i hated high school). Towards my senior year a teacher straight up told me..why are you still here. Quit school. That gave me the motivation to prove her wrong. So I made up all my classes in night school and summer school. I loved it so much because all the "cool" bad people went to summer and night school. I raised my gpa and graduated. Back then i never planned on going to college. After graduation my then boyfriend who is now my husband pushed me into going to college...but i didnt have a good school record but it was good enough to get into the community college. From there i did my two years. Im not gonna lie, I had to take high school math in the first year of comunity college but eventually I made it to college level courses...Heres where you should care...if you live in San Cruz...usually the comunity colleges have special agreements to let all their students move on to the next higher college with ease. I skipped school, lost credit, had all bad grades in high school, I partied it up, didnt join any extra curricular activities.... and I still ended up graduating from a prestigious college. Theres many ways of getting to a common goal. So yes having better grades will make it easier to get into your dream college but if you have all bad grades its not the end of the world. Im just saying.

I got an F in a course in college, is there no chance to get into grad school now?

If it is a major course that you have to have, plan on taking it over because you didn't get credit for it. The next time you take it, find the tutoring services at the college and get a tutor to help you.

Many people fail courses from time to time. It isn't a disaster. A tutor will help you to understand the class.

You most likely will need a 3.0 to get into grad school. Any combination of grades that add up to that, with the exception of D's and F's can amount to that.

The only caveat is that if this class is in your major, you should try to get at least a "B". You might try to get some tutoring before you take the class in the areas where you are weak. If entrance is competitive, then a "C" in a major class could be problematic.

Will I not be able to go to college if I fail a class during senior year?

Is this a required class? If so, never mind college - you should be worried about graduating HS.If I were you, I would look for someone who can help you - a star student, relative, or a paid tutor to help you pass the class. Lock yourself in a room and start going over all assignments and notes. If you ace the final, perhaps you can get by with a C-.High school courses are substantially easier compared to what you will take in college even before considering all the distractions that come with the new environment. In college, you have classes a few times a week and don’t have teachers spoon-feeding you. You have to be able to manage your time and study on your own.If you have anywhere near the average intelligence, you should not be failing a class in HS, unless you don’t care or you don’t have the discipline. I am sure even with an F, you may be able to enroll in a community college or even a 4-year college that is not interested in you graduating, but will gladly take your money. But be honest with yourself and think if you can handle the rigors of college or are you wasting money on tuition and getting in debt. What I would recommend is not going to college for a year or two but find a full-time job. Once you feel that you have reached a certain level of maturity and understood how difficult life is working minimum-wage jobs, then apply for a 4-year college.

I Already Have 4 F's In College, Is My Life Over?

I went through a period of time where I had some personal problems and I got 3 F's and 7 W's in the course of a year...without passing a thing. My GPA dropped to under 2.0 and I felt the same way.

Well I took a year off and came back the next semester/summer and made 5 A's and 2 B's (only repeating one of the F grades)..this brought my GPA up from 1.7 to 2.6. So you can get things up, just work at it.

Anyways..I transferred to UT right after that and they only looked at the GPA of my transferable coursework which luckily for me didn't include my other two F's which brought my GPA up to 3.4. So it can be done.

Should I drop a class in college or get an F ?

It's my first semester in a community college and already I'm in trouble. The english 1 class I am taking requires that I have no missing work in order to pass. Well, because of work and my stupidity, I forgot to turn in a paper. Now there's no way I can pass even with a C, since all your papers have to be accepted and I'm missing one.
So, this isn't even my real college. I'm just trying to get my basics here and then I'll transfer into a four year college in two years. So should I drop the class? Or just flunk out with an F and try again next semester or over the summer?
