Can I Get Into A Rated R Movie If Im 16 With A 17 Y.o. Friend

CAN I GET INTO A RATED R MOVIE IF IM 16 WITH A 17 Y.O. FRIEND?

I don't even think it matters, if it does then say you're watching a pg-13/pg movie and go see the rated R movie. Nearly all my theaters don't have people up your asses when looking for a movie, so I think you'd be safe.

If they do have security and etc, ask a older person to pretend to be your guardian/parent/friend that's watching the same movie and go on from there. usually they would say yes since 17 is a whatever.

Best of luck!

Can you get into a Rated R movie if your friend is 18?

Under 17 requires a "parent or adult guardian" but that is kind of vague.
What exactly is an "adult guardian" and how old do they have to be.
One person said 21, but I never heard that before.

You could contact the Motion Picture Association of America and ask them.

Can my friend and I go to R-rated movies if I'm 17 years old and he is 16 years old?

I understood this question totally differently from other people who responded. I did not actually think that you were asking about what is permissible by the theater or the law or whatever else but more if it was okay to do so morally/ethically/culturally. I might totally overthought it but if by any chance that is your question, I think it depends. My 13 and 16 year old children have watched R rated movies…sometimes even MA rated. WHy? because I think the rating system is totally overrated and biased. It uses one way of thinking with a very moralistic lens, furthermore it uses the American moral viewpoint whereas people think bare breasts and buttocks are something to be banned. People breastfeeding have to cover up etc. I let my children see nudity, talk about sex, watch non pornographic sex scenes. It is part of life. It is not bad or wrong. I however limit the violence and without having to do much they abhor violence and will not watch horror movies or other movies that dehumanizes them or others. To make a long story unbearable I would say, my response is it depends on why the movie was rated R. I would see it if it is a decent movie that has sex scenes, emotional intensity and limited violence. Then again, you might not care at all as your question may have been about technicalities of entering the movie theater :).

Can you get in rated R movies with an 18 year old friend?

Some theaters enforce that you have to be 21 to buy R rated tickets for minors. But I read somewhere, that by law, if someone over 18 buys more than one R rated ticket, the recipient of the other tickets don't have to be present to check the ages. So have the minors wait across the street or something while the older one buys the ticket.

I’m planning on going to an R-rated movie with my friends (we’re all under 17) Do we each need our legal guardians there or do we just need one adult?

I’m planning on going to an R-rated movie with my friends (we’re all under 17) Do we each need our legal guardians there or do we just need one adult? It probably depends on the policies of the movie theater. When my son was in high school, he and his pal wanted to see “Jackass,” and because it was rated R, the plan was to have the pal’s college-age sister accompany them. They would not allow that at the theater, so I had to drive over to the movies and watch “Jackass” with them.So one “real” adult is probably enough.

If I'm 16 and my friend is 17 could she buy my ticket for an R rated movie?

You've got to be 17 to buy tickets and get into an R rated movie and any age under you have to be with an adult. But since i'm not 17 yet, what if my friend bought my ticket for me? Would they tell me I can't go through when they stub the tickets?

Do you have to be 18 or 21 to take a minor to an R-rated movie?

Do you have to be 18 or 21 to take a minor to an R-rated movie? The MPAA ratings specify for an R-rated movie: “Under 17 requires accompanying parent or adult guardian.”However, the text does not specify the minimum age of the “adult guardian.” The enforcement of the ratings are not legally binding, and they are enforced at the local theater or theater chain level. And, most notably, the regulations are enforced in the purchase of tickets. The policy of the Regal Cinemas is indicative of the way this policy is enforced throughout the industry:For films rated “R” by the MPAA, Regal will not sell tickets to any person under the age of 17. A person must be at least 21 years old in order to purchase multiple tickets without providing additional photo I.D. for proof of age for each additional ticket being purchased.”So, yes, you have to be 21 to purchase a ticket for a minor to an R-rated movie.

If your 16 with a 17 year old can you see a rated r movie?

There's no age limit on seeing an R rated movie... you simply have to be 17 to purchase tickets. If an adult (some theaters require 21+) does it for you (and accompanies you), there's no problem.

Some of my friends (Canada) said they are going to see an R rated movie. I said they're not allowed, they said the R is just a suggestion. Is it true?

Seeing as the Date this question was posted is February 12, 2016, I'll assume that the film in question was Deadpool, and while it was rated R in the US, the Canadian multi-provincial system marked it as 14A in BC/Alberta/Saskatchewan 18A in Manitoba/Ontario and 13+ in Quebec. User gave a great explanation of the Canadian rating system, so I won't repeat it. Suffice to say, what is considered offencive in one country may not be in another, or in the case of China not allowed at all.
