Can I Get Into Harvard Although I Had As And Bs In 8th Grade

I’m currently in the 8th grade, and I want to get into Harvard. How can I ensure that I will get into Harvard?

Here is what my daughter did in high school and she didn’t get into HarvardNever got a B. Got all As from middle school through her senior year in high school.Took 9 AP courses, as well as multivariable calculus and differential equations at her local state university (As in both courses).Completed four years of math and four years of high school English in two years at her local state university with A+ in both courses.Taught herself calculus and tested out of AB Calculus before she was a junior in high school.Got an 800 on the Math 2 Subject Test and the Biology Subject Test. Her standardized test scores placed her in the 98th percentile of test takers.Had the lead in every school play her junior and senior year including Elle in Legally Blonde her junior year and was nominated for a state award. Was a member of the National Honors Society, an officer in Student Congress and a writer for the school paper.Founded a club, Students for Females in STEM, her junior year. Conducted community and school based coding programs for elementary and middle school kids. Arranged for local university computer science students to teach computer science at her high school since her high school didn’t offer computer science courses.Went to the White House twice as a student member of a national coalition to lobby for computer science education funding. Also lobbied Senators on Capitol Hill as well as Governors their summer conference.Gave a presentation to the State Board of Education on the importance of computer science education in K-12 schools.Had glowing letters of recommendations from her teachers and her mentor who works for Microsoft.Wrote an essay that was good enough to get her into another Ivy League school but not Harvard. So if you can surpass all that my daughter did and other very outstanding students who also didn’t get into Harvard, go for it. But if you can’t, then slow down, smell the roses, and enjoy your childhood without obsessing at age 13 about what college you are going to. There is more than enough time for that.

Would I get into Harvard if was a billionaire but had bad grades?

Don’t know about good ol Harvard, but heard that many under qualified candidates do get into reputed schools through a big fat donation. ( Also known as backdoor entry).Thing is I have only heard this occurring for those who want to enrol at UG level. Haven't heard anyone getting into a prestigious MBA/JD/MPP programme through $$$.Because if it was so easy, then every multimillionaires son/daughter with 2.3 GPA would have been admitted. Then again what do I know? I am not B School/Law School adcom member!Listen, if you have bad grades both cumulative and overall, you most likely won't get into Harvard. But as someone who carries the stigma of a super low GPA ( I know how shitty, demoralizing and hopeless it feels) I have heard it said again and again that with enough relevant work experience, alternate transcripts and a high GMAT you can expect to get into a reasonable good school. Which I hope occurs with me.

How to get into Harvard?

I really want to go to Harvard Law school to become a lawyer. I'm only in 7th grade, so I still have all the high school years ahead of me. Any suggestions on how to get REALLY good grades so I can get into Harvard? I get really good grades now, but middle school is easy. Is it true that to get into Harvard you have to have a 4.0 GPA? Isn't that the highest you can get? Wouldn't you have to get all 100s? Please help, I know little about this stuff because I'm 12 :)
PS: Yes, I will be able to pay for it and here are some activites that I do. (Will they help?)

*Swim (Varsity swimming next year as an 8th grader)
*Track (First year this year. Maybe I will be able to do varsity next year because I know I have skill...

Thats it! I don't want to join chorus or band or orchestra but I might join chorus in high school.

PS: Please, no mean comments

Will Harvard count my 2 "B" grades in 8th grade against me?

Your question:  No, B's in 8th grade won't hurt you.Your larger question:  Getting into Harvard... Please don't feel that life begins and ends with getting into a particular college.  College admissions today is a crap shoot.  It sounds like you will be one of the 10s of thousands of kids who apply to Harvard (and the other top schools) AND ARE QUALIFIED TO ATTEND.  Unfortunately, Harvard can only pick 1600 out of those 10s of 1,000s.  And they are looking to build a diverse class full of passionate kids representing all socioeconomic classes, geographical regions, ethnicities, sports/music/drama/government/you-name-it.  And so you may be turned down even though your grades or scores or school resume seems superior to someone else's.  Definitely apply!!  Do your best to get in!! and take the time to seriously consider several other institutions (not just Ivies) so that if you don't get in you have a strong plan B (and plan C).

Does Harvard university look at your 6th,7th,or 8th grade scores?

you are right, this is a stupid question, but dont feel bad, everyone has one of those days. Before high school, you dont even exist! Unless, you are a 7th grader who won the nobel prize or went to the olympics, that would matter, otherwise, its all about high school.

Keep working hard though because if you slack of now, it will translate into high school. I feel like you are getting yourself ready right now and thats good because then you will be able to do even more and better things when you get to high school.

Keep working hard, but no, middle school is nonexistent in the eyes of any college in this world!

Best of luck, I hope you make there. You still have about 5.5 years before you apply....make them count!

Yale vs. Stanford vs. Harvard?

The novels are useless unless you can publish them. Even then anybody can publish something these days, to make it useful it has to become popular in sales.

Dancing and playing Piano or violin (I play them also!) wont help unless you have awards for it. If you don't then I'm sorry but it is useless.

Same with horseback riding.

Unless you are on the school team or have trophies then it useless. If you are on the JV team then it is OK to these schools. If you are on Varsity then it counts! Hazzah!! If you are a captain or vice captain or w/e then even better!

Languages will help a lot.

They can't see your grades in middle school unless you took high school classes then.

By the looks of it you seem to have a good GPA. Except maybe UCLA, you have more then a 50% chance at those schools you listed but less then 10% at Stanford, Yale, and Harvard. From the info you told me at least. Like another poster said, you shouldn't apply to so many, it just seems like a waste of money.

Harvard-Worst Campus
Yale-Average Campus
Stanford-Best Campus

For a psychologist I would recommend Harvard or Yale. Stanford is more tech then the other two. That means it's a better school for engineering and computers. Yale and Harvard are the same for undergraduate but VERY different for Graduate. Yale and Harvard are good for the classics. English, History, Psychology, Languages, etc. By the way, Yale and Harvard are severely inflated. That means that they give you good grades even though you don't deserve them so you can have a high GPA so that you can get into good jobs so that they can get a better reputation. Stanford not so much.

Also...you do seem a bit..eh..arrogant. Sorry, just had to tell you. Take it as constructive criticism. You may be talented but their are many who are just as talented.

hope i helped,

How hard is 8th grade? I mean I mostly got As and Bs in my previous grades but I’m afraid this year in 8th grade will be quite challenging.

The content in 8th grade is not that much of a leap from 7th grade in most places. One bonus is that you have gone through a period of your life in which you gain some pretty serious maturity which will help you in 8th grade. Keep your priorities straight. 8th grade is also the age in which many kids start to be overly interested in boy/girl or other romantic relationships. School is not a social event! Keep your mind and actions centered on school and you will be successful. If you find yourself struggling, get help early. Ask you teachers, ask for tutors either peer or professional. Be responsible, it is worth the work.

How hard is it to get into Harvard? Do I have a chance?

I know that it is close to impossible to even be considered for Harvard. I also know I'm in 7th grade and I shouldn't be worrying my pretty little head off about college just yet. But, I've just always wanted to attend Harvard Law and become a lawyer. I'm awesome at arguing, and I take all pre AP classes and have all 95s and above in them. If I kept this up, do you think I would have a chance off getting into Harvard? Also what could I do to have a better chance of getting accepted?

Does Harvard University look at middle school grades?

I am a 14 year old girl, going into 9th grade this fall. Through grades 6th, 7th and 8th, I didn't really care much about my grades. I never did any of my homework, never turned in any of my classwork, and never studied. I just did not care. My plan was to join the army, but now that I'm thinking of it more, I really want to make my mom (deceased) proud. My whole life up to age 12, we talked about Harvard law school. I have to do this for my mom, as well as myself.

Because of my grades (B's, C's, D's, F's) in middle school, I'm not currently taking any honors or AP classes. (Although I am very well capable of it). I know that they are almost necessary for Harvard, but I'm hoping to change that. In conclusion, my question is, do they look at middle school grades? Also, what do you need to get it to Harvard law school (qualifications)? Thank you!(:
