Can I Get Into Westpoint

Can i get into west point?

I am a sophomore in high school and was wondering if I can get into west point academy. My GPA is 3.5 I am a boyscout, a member of the student council, Italian club and national honors society. I participate in track and created a bootcamp for kids who want to join the military and for others that want to get in shape for sports. I have no honors classes but are planning to join at least 2 by junior year and am joining cross country next year, Maby even wrestling. I would like feedback and anyone thinks I should do anything else to better my chances, I am open to ideas. Thank you

What did you do to get into West Point?

I enlisted in the US Army.I had applied my senior year of High School, but was slightly above average academically and had not participated in any physical activities or sports since Freshman Year. The rest were leadership positions or other organizations, which meant I was not very well-rounded. Plus, I slacked on the application and did not turn it in until last minute. Unsurprisingly, within a week I received my rejection letter.Luckily for me, I already knew my chances were low, so I had already enlisted during the Christmas holiday in 2011.After Basic Training, I went to Advanced Individual Training (AIT) at Ft. Eustis, Virginia, and there my company commander (a WP graduate) learned that I had wanted to go to West Point through one of my platoon sergeants. He encouraged me to reapply, I did, and here I am about 90 days away from graduating.I did not ever expect to go to West Point after being rejected. While I was a soldier, I learned that every year, West Point reserves slots for the Active Army and Reserve/National Guard, and they don’t always fill these slots. So your chances are greatly increased by being a soldier. As the person previous to me said, when he went to take the exam, he was the only one interested. That is pretty much how it is - either soldiers don’t care or they don’t know, so there’s an opportunity there.Anyways, long story short, I would not be here if it were not for enlisting initially in the US Army.Best of luck!

Can i get into West Point?

Admission to West Point or any US Military Academy is an extremely difficult process, much more so than other colleges, and while you don’t have to be born in the United States to serve in the military, you must be a naturalized citizen or a “lawful permanent resident.” West Point has an International Cadet program, so they do except non-citizens if that is your case. You’ll need to do very well in high school, join extracurricular activities that demonstrate leadership skills, and get very high test scores. Other colleges require you to take a test like the TOEFL if English isn’t your first language. Also, I believe a US Congressman must nominate you to be considered. All and all it’s very difficult to get accepted. Only 13% of those who applied were accepted for the Class of 2012, and those people have been in American schools all their lives. Not to mention you have to serve in the Army for 5 years.

I'm sure if you send then an e-mail they'll be able to answer that question for you.

Tattoos in West Point?

NOTE: With all due respect, I am only seeking an answer to my question. Do not berate me about tattoos. I do not plan on getting anything extravagant and out of control. I plan to get it near my shoulder where it cannot be seen by everyone. I have thought long and hard about it and decided I want to go through with it. With that being said: I have read many different answers to this question and heard very unclear answers from people I have asked. As far as I know, tattoos are allowed as long as they are not offensive in any way. I also understand once R-day comes you cannot receive any more tattoos. I plan to get a tattoo on my upper arm of a pin-up girl (if you have ever seen the artwork they used to put on the nose of world war 2 planes) with an American flag. I am not going to feed you the significance of this tattoo to you, but i do really want to get it, as long as it will not interfere with West Point. What are your thoughts? DO NOT TELL ME TATTOOS ARE STUPID I AM ONLY INTERESTED IN WHAT THE RULES STATE! Thanks!!
