Are e-cigarettes worth using when trying to quit smoking? How long does it take to quit smoking using e-cigs?

After smoking for 20+ years, with several failed attempts in between, I managed to quit smoking in just a day and an half. That was almost seven years ago, and I have not smoked since then. Funny thing is, I was not even trying, or hoping, to completely quit. My intention was to smoke *less*, but I imagined it would be difficult to quit completely, given the previous attempts.Unlike Pharma NRT's, e-cigarettes mimic the action of smoking. The behavioral side of a smoking habit is also a great part of the equation: Pharma NRT's do not adress this aspect, and have a dismayal "success" rate measured with a single digit.Today, the choice I once made is clear: to ever remain a smoker with some non-smoking periods in between (my "quitting" attempts, over and over again), would always be worse than becoming a vaper and quitting smoking for good, albeit using a smokeLESS alternative to tobbaco, one that may be not *completely* safe, but it's orders of magnitude *safer* that tobacco cigarettes. The several studies that were already available on the final of 2008 (yes, there *are* studies, there *were* studies even back then  :) convinced me, and so I switched in the beginning of 2009.And never turned back  :)

Does the Electronic Cigarette help quit smoking?

Some say that using electronic cigarettes can help you quit smoking.

By switching to ecigs you would certainly quit smoking tobacco cigarettes with tar and 1000s of carcinogens.

To end your addiction to nicotine you have two options with ecigs:
One option is to gradually lower the level of nicotine in your cartridges to become nicotine and tobacco free.
The other option is to smoke electronic cigarettes with zero nicotine cartridges while applying nicotine patches. That way you separate addiction and habit.

Does vaping help you stop smoking?

"Did vaping make you quit smoking?"To be honest, I enjoy smoking cigarettes and an occasional cigar but the cost of cigarettes has become damn near prohibitive. When I was young I used to deny my nicotine addiction. “I can quit anytime I want to!” I just didn’t want to. I enjoyed it a lot. I sincerely believed I wasn’t addicted. But I was later forced to acknowledge it one day, after major surgery (for an aortic aneurysm), when I found myself standing outside the hospital in one of their ‘gowns’ with my butt hanging out, holding onto my IV stand and puffing on a Chesterfield. It seems there’s a weekly price increase on smokes. So I transitioned into vaping. At the time, it made financial sense. And it was cleaner and healthier… stealthier, too (I no longer need to leave the hospital to indulge). But now the government has begun to hassle the vaping industry who, in turn, are offering less at a greater price.Looks like I’m going to transition back to cigarettes. It doesn’t appear likely at this point that the nicotine consumers are gonna coalesce into any kind of political force and demand representation. Until that happens, we’ll have to learn to be comfortable with taxation with no representation.ANSWER:Vaping was helping me quit. But it’s becoming too expensive and sending me back to the cigarettes.Johnny … Duty largely consists of pretending the trivial is critical.

What is best way to avoid smoking?

I have recently returned from, The Global Forum on Nicotine (GFN) a conference in Warsaw. The theme of this major event was, “Rethinking Nicotine.”It is not before time that people started to think seriously about nicotine and its effects.Up until very recently it was thought that nicotine was, ‘as addictive as heroin,’ and other such comparisons. There are a number of reasons as to why this became conventional wisdom. The main reason was observation of smokers and the effect that smoking had on them. It was assumed that nicotine was the culprit. On the back of this assumption, pharmaceutical companies spent billions developing nicotine replacement therapies, at the same time, further publicizing the idea of nicotine dependence. However, something did not add up.If nicotine was the sole culprit why did nicotine therapies not work? Why is the success rate of these products down at almost the same level as people who succeeded in stopping smoking cold turkey? (Around the 5% mark after one year abstenance)You should note that I said, ‘sole culprit.’ I do not doubt that nicotine plays a part in addiction - but how much? How important a role does nicotine play?It is possible that combustion and added chemicals in tobacco smoke enhance the effect of nicotine, The combination of these things, perhaps work to make nicotine more addictive and this would explain the failure of nicotine replacement therapies. But there is more to smoking addiction that just the nicotine - there is the habit. We need to explain why some people find it harder to stop smoking than others. We need to explore why Harm Reduction technologies are having such a dramatic effect on the smoking landscape. (Vaping and Snus consumption0We should consider the powerful effect of learned behaviours on smoking habits and cravings.Follow this link to see how psychological effects create the breeding ground for a habit almost impossible to break (For many) and how I managed to stop a lifetime of heavy smoking without even trying. (And no, there is nothing in it for me. My involvement finishes with the last full stop in this response.)Hooked, Netted & Landed. A Smokers Story.

Can you smoke an E-Cig on an airplane?

No. As of yet, no airlines have approved the e-cigarettes for use onboard. They are technically classed as tobacco products (because they contain nicotine), and fall under the blanket ban of smoking onboard.

One of the main reasons it remains banned is that other passengers may mistake it for the real thing and subsequently start lighting up their own cigarettes.

Are there any dangers in using electronic cigarettes?

Quitting is always the best option. I would check any adverse affects cause by not just smoking but nicotine...and of course, ask your physician.

I quit after 10 years of smoking traditional cigarettes by switching to electronic. I think 50% of it for me was the actual act of smoking, which the e-cigarette obviously helps. The ecig doesn’t smell, no second hand smoke, you can smoke it pretty much everywhere, and you still get your nicotine with much less chemicals!

I guess the companies don’t make quit smoking or health claims due to FDA regulations but common sense says 4000+ chemicals vs. a few is going to be much much healthier for you.

As far as brands, just do your research. I tried a few before finding ProSmoke but everyone might want something different. Check cigreviews and electroniccigarettespot for opinions and reviews. The other brands came close but I am very content with what I have now.

In the long run, it is also much cheaper. I would say 50+% for smokers. God this sounds like an infomercial....but do your research and good luck quitting!

How to smoke cigarettes without anyone noticing the smell?

no way, you can use lot of perfume to cover the smell but once the perfume is gone you room will smell cigarette again. The cigarette simply smell too strong for anything to cover it

Smoking outside will help. However the nicotine smell will come out from your body/hair. People who don't smoke have a much more sensitive nose than us smoker

you might want to try ecig
