Can I Get Some Recommendations On Some Rappers To Listen To Today

Any recommended rappers I should listen to?

I have, very recently , gotten into rap music. I really love the culture and stories that a lot of them portray and would like to know of any rappers that do this. I'm also doing an analysis on resent day rappers for my last project in school ,so if you guys can tell me of current rappers that would be awesome . thanks :)

What are some good rappers to listen to?

Definitely listen to Tupac, if you only going to listen to one artist I reccomend please listen to him. So I think you should listen to:1. Tupac - A lyrical poet. His songs contain so much heart and he was also a very intelligent and socially conscious person.2. Nas - Best at storytelling through lyrics and has great flow and beats3. Kanye West - (please start with his older stuff like College Dropout not Yeezus)4. Kendrick Lamar - Best rapper of this generation for sure. To Pimp a Butterfly is a masterpiece.5. J. Cole - 2nd Best, but I love his personality, so I still prefer him over Kendrick, but he actually raps and has a lot of substance in his lyrics, he also produces most of his own music. 6. Tribe Called Quest - Great vibey beats, smooth flow and rhythym, super 90s7. Eminem - He has the best flow and a very complex structure for sure. His lyrics are okay though.8. Snoop Dogg -  King of G-Funk (sorry Dre), but he has really catchy and groovy songs.9.  Childish Gambino - He has a very unique sound compared to most rap songs. I like it. He has a good flow too.10.  Common - I think he is so underrated, he doesn't have the most complex flow, but he has great lyrics and nice beats.

Music Recommendations: What are some good rap songs for a running playlist?

Eminem is the cornerstone of any rap song library designed for running. Good rhythm plus motivational lyrics (though his content may be offensive). His Big 3 running songs are essentials: 'Till I Collapse, Lose Yourself, Mosh. Some of his newer stuff include Not Afraid, Cinderella Man, Won't Back Down Cold Wind Blows, Fastlane (by his other moniker - Bad Meets Evil).Other notable artists/songs:Kanye West (in alphabetical order): All of the Lights, Amazing, Can't Tell Me Nothing, Champion, Flashing Lights, Forever (Drake song, Kanye's featured), Gold Digger, Good Life, Heartless, Homecoming, Monster, Paranoid, POWER, Touch the Sky. He also collaborated with rap icon Jay-Z for Murder to Excellence, Ni***s in Paris, No Church In the Wild, and Run This Town.Jay-Z: Brooklyn's Finest, Brooklyn Go Hard, D.O.A., Dead Presidents, Empire State of Mind, Hard Knock Life, Heart of the City, Izzo (H.O.V.A.), Kingdom Come, Money Ain't A Thang, Numb/Encore (collaboration with Linkin Park), Show Me What You Got, 30 Something, and the classic - 99 Problems.50 Cent: Ayo Technology, Candy Shop, Disco Inferno, Get Up, How We Do, I Like the Way She Do It (as G-Unit), I Get Money, In Da Club, Just A Lil Bit, Outta Control, P.I.M.P., Piggy Bank, Straight Outta Southside (G-Unit), Westside Story, What Up GangstaAlso, let me suggest pro boxer Roy Jones' songs Can't Be Touched and Go Hard or Go Home. Comparable songs to those are "Heart of a Champion" and "Boom!" by Nelly. Lots of classic rap out there as well, I recommend starting with Wu-Tang Clan's 36 Chambers album (Protect Ya Neck is the most prominent track). There are plenty of different rap songs by artists like Aesop Rock (Daylight, None Shall Pass) and DELS (Shapeshift, Gob, Capsize).

What are some good rap and/or rock songs to listen to when working out, especially when weightlifting or running?

(This is taken from my answer to another similar question.)Lots of Eminem songs, really. Here's a list:Lose Yourself - can't go wrong with this classic, it's got a steady beat and a powerful message, nice buildup and chorus. “You only get one shot, do not miss your chance to blow; this opportunity goes once in a lifetime”Till I Collapse - As you can tell from the song title itself, it pushes you to go beyond your limits. “Cause sometimes you just feel tired, feel weak, and when you feel weak, you feel like you wanna just give up, but you gotta search within you, you gotta find that inner strengthAnd just pull that shit out of you and get that motivation to not give upAnd not be a quitter, no matter how bad you wanna just fall flat on your face and collapse.”Berzerk - For this one it's not so much the message but rather the song's “atmosphere”; it's got an old-school feeling to it while sounding very energetic and can pump you up for any challenge.Survival - Another newer Eminem song. Sounds intense, seems especially suited for sports and physical exercise. “Cause I'm a fight 'til I die or win, biting the dust it'll just make me angrier, wait — let me remind you of what got me this far, picture me quitting, now draw a circle around it and put a line through it, slut; it's survival of what?”Hope it helped!

Would you still listen to rap music if the lyrics didnt disrespect women and black men?

today in school we had a serious duscsion about rap music lyrics and how many rappers talk about bitches and hos drugs and cops and so on and so forth and other classmates said that when ever a rapper talks about saving the hood or something along thoes lines people say he is weak.

on top of the fact that we found out via oprah special that russle simions was going to try to get the rappers on his lable to change their image to something that didnt dehumanize women and make black men look like dogs and i wondered would people still like rap music if they talked about something else?

Any recommendations for good rap and hip-hop music?

If you want to get into Hip Hop Music, I'd recommend starting with 80's-90's Hip Hop so you can understand how it started and its roots. Also these were the years before Gangsta Rap became the mainstream and corrupted the general public's view on Hip Hop from that of a way of expressing Sociopolitical problems in America to glorifying thug activity, violence, and ignorance.

So try listening to these artists:
Public Enemy
De La Soul
Big L
Eric B. and Rakim
Del Tha Funkee Homosapien
The Pharcyde
Poor Righteous Teachers
A Tribe Called Quest

And then also a few modern Underground/Alternative Hip Hop artists who continue the style of what used to be mainstream/old school rap:
Mos Def
MF Doom
Blackstar(Mos Def and Talib Kweli)
Afu-Ra
Jurassic 5
Little Brother
Madvillain
Captain Murphy

Why does everyone listen to rap and hip hop?

It seem's like the age group 15-30 yr. old's listen to this? It it because it's all over t.v, commercials, ect. or is it because everyone likes to copy eachother and make it a social status thing? I don't get, some rap like ( old school rap) is good but damn, everywhere you go or hear in people's car's is this ****. Would you believe If I said, people who only listen to hip hop or rap are immature and one sided? I mean, all music is a beautiful thing, people should expand their minds. I'm not hating (the term everyone say' these day's, can we think of another word, gets old hearing it all the time), I'm not hating rap or hip hop, but damn...... God bless everyone, be safe.......

I'm stuck in the 90s golden era hip-hop. What current rappers should I listen to? Are there any underground artists that are especially respected?

I admire your desire to learn of contemporary Hip-Hop artists, especially with you being a big fan of golden-era Hip-Hop; It's common for die-hards of that particular era to be pretty close-minded about music.I feel that the guy who told you to 'stay in the golden era' meant well and made a couple of great points, but had small conflicting statements within his answer (like the one mentioned above). Here's my take on this matter:I've learned that, with Rap, it can be a good idea to give some people the benefit of the doubt, at least initially. Even the artists you mentioned made 'materialistic, generic' work, at some point, and had you heard that before their great works, you probably wouldn't be a fan of theirs. I can see how the super-braggadocious, money-driven leanings of Drake and Lil' Wayne could annoy one to look past the fact that they're easily two of the most technically skilled Rap artists today.  Given that you seem to like the 'style' and 'feel' of golden-era hip-hop, you might like Jay Electronica (a lot), J. Cole (especially his early works), RATKING, Earl Sweatshirt, Mac Miller, Big Krit, Flatbush Zombies, Chance the Rapper, Blu, Fashawn, or Joey Bada$$. Kanye West and Lupe Fiasco are probably two of the best popular, modern-day examples of the golden-era artists you listed, though there's a chance that Kanye may rub you the wrong way.As much as I hate to give the greedy fuckers credit, internet radio stations (Pandora, Last.fm, etc)are treasure troves for artist (unknown to you)that you might love, since they base what's played off of what you already like.I hope this helps; I could've went further into detail, but I'll spare you the short story.
