GOING TO HOSPITAL WITHOUT PARENTS KNOWING?

I'm glad you're going to the ER.

But....you're underage, you aren't homeless or a runaway. You need to tell your parents about this so you can get treatment for the infection and for your cutting problem. This isn't something you can stop on your own.

Believe me...you're parents will be upset BUT they would rather have you alive than dead.

Can I go to the hospital without my parents?

I'm 15 and I'm having suicidal thoughts and I started self harming again my bestfriend saw my cuts when she came over and she said she was worried about me and said I needed help she told one of my close guy friends and they convinced me to get help he's 16 and he can drive he said he'll drive me to the hospital and my bestfriend is going with us my parents don't know I'm going can I go without them? Also what will the hospital do?

How can I go to the doctor without my parents knowing?

Minors are entitled to confidential healthcare regarding contraception, sexually transmitted infection counseling and testing and substance abuse.* Any other medical care is going to require consent from a parent or guardian… but I’m going to assume you actually want contraception, STI testing or help with substance abuse as teens are usually OK involving parents with other health problems. There are two ways I’ve encountered minors’ rights to confidential services violated:Healthcare provider doesn’t understand the teen’s right to confidential care or just doesn’t care and involves a parent without the teen’s consent. This is a HIPAA (privacy) violation and you could sue that doctor but, in the big scheme of things, this doesn’t really help you with the fact that your parents are now involved in a decision you had hoped to leave them out of.Healthcare provider honors your confidentiality but your insurance company has no such obligation and sends an EOB or Explanation of Benefits to your house detailing exactly what services you had.The best way to know you’re seeing someone who understands your rights and can assist with payment if insurance billing may be an issue is to seek a Title X (pronounced Title Ten) clinic in your area. Many Planned Parenthood clinics are Title X as well as other Federally Qualified Health Centers. Don’t be afraid to be assertive and ask regarding their confidentiality policy.Of course, it’s better if you can involve your parents in your healthcare decisions if at all possible - but I’m well aware that not all parents are the best advocates for their children.*Minors’ rights to access confidential abortion services vary state by state - most require either parental notification or consent. If you want to access abortion services and feel that it is not in your best interest to involve your parents contact your state’s ACLU for assistance with judicial bypass.Parental Involvement in Minors’ Abortions

Can I go to the doctor without my parents knowing?

I got my belly button pierced ( by a professional) , but it was pierced through scar tissue & even though I've been cleaning it with sea salt and warm water a bump still formed . It popped last night and I want to go to the hospital or urgent care clinic to get it looked at , but I want to go alone . My mom doesn't know I got it pierced. Doctors ask for a lot of information like addresses and phone numbers so I was wondering if I could go to some sort of clinic and get it checked out without my parents knowing ? I'm 15, I'll be 16 in October . At the moment I have sea salt on the bump where it popped , should I wait it out and sea if it heals ?

If I go to the hospital do my parents need to know?

I'm at college and my parents over worry... I got In a fight last night & hit my head really bad and I'm in so much pain now. I have our insurance card & everything but I never want them to find out I went.

Will they?
Will it show up on some bill or something?
Will they tell them etc?

I'm 19 btw

If I bring my I.D, social, and medicaid card to the E.R for a knee injury that my parents don't give a damn about, will I get to see a doctor or will they send me home? thanks

How can I use my parents’ health insurance without them knowing about it? I was at a music festival and took a bad batch of Molly and overdosed. I went to the hospital and I don’t want them to find out.

They are going to find out. Whomever is the primary policy holder gets an EOB, explanation of benefits, every time the policy is used. My husband’s adult children are on his plan. We know every time they go to the ER, doctors, X-ray, etc, but not pharmacy. EOB’s are not very detailed. It’s the name of the subscriber, you, the place and date of use, amount billed vrs amount the insurance will pay, ( never the same, so somebody’s getting a bill), and sometimes a code that reads something like 99905. You can look up those codes easily, but they are rarely more informative than, “office visit, 15 min.” There are no diagnosis codes, at least on any EOB’s I have ever seen. So, your parents will know you went to the ER. No way around that, but they will only know why or what if you tell them. And if I may…I don’t know what Molly is, but if a bad batch can land you in the ER, maybe you might want to put such danger in the rear view mirror. I was a paramedic for a long time. I have been a nurse a bit longer. I have seen a lot of people die young who didn’t have to. Bad choices, dumb decisions…. They can and do kill people. It can happen to you. Almost did…
