Can I homeschool myself?

Hello, I'm 15 years old from Singapore. I'm currently averaging a C in most of my subjects and I absolutely flunked biology. I'm not allowed to be homeschooled (my parents don't have the time), but I would like to teach myself things. I know the internet is full of amazing resources, and I have enough books, but could you please advise me on how to actually go about homeschooling myself?

I'm in a school where we get to skip a major exam usually taken at age 16 (the O-levels) and go straight to the next test at 18 (the A-levels) two years later. We're taking the same A-level examination as others in the country. So I'd like to use O-level resources, and follow up when I'm over 16 with A-level resources. In other words, studying as the other people in regular schools do. What do you think of my plan? Is there any way I can improve? I'd quite like to get at least a B or A average and get into a decent college.

I'm planning to take Chemistry, Physics, Economics and Maths. Thanks :)

Can i homeschool myself?

I am 13 years old and I really want to be homeschooled. I have been doing home bound schooling for a while now (anxiety issues) and I am ahead of the work by about 3 days. I would love to be homeschooled but everywhere that I have looked says that all these kids have parents with them. I told my dad about it and he said you would never do your work. I do my work now so I would certainly do my homeschool work. So can a 13 year old homeschool them self?

P.s. My parents are divorced and work all day and there is no way that they could do it. I would also be doing the k12 program online.

Can I homeschool myself?

No, you can't homeschool yourself. The requirements for homeschooling vary from state to state, but there must be some kind of instructor, be it a parent, tutor or whatever you may have.

However, that DOESN'T necessarily mean the instructor has to be with you throughout the study time. I know of one young man whose parent's both work, and still keep close track of his schooling. However, he is particularly motivated to study, which is an essential for any homeschooled kid.

An alternative would be a private school, or finding another homeschooling mom or dad who would be willing to have you attend her classes, too. That person would likely be considered a tutor, though, and may need to have a teaching certificate to be legal. Again, it depends on your state laws.

Talk with your folks about homeschooling. They need to know your thoughts on school, the problems public school is creating for you. They may have alternative solutions for the situation!

How can I homeschool myself at age 17?

Homeschooling is a very great oppurtunity if you take advantage of it. I've been homeschooled for almost 2 months now and I LOVE ut IT! I won't say I hated public school but do to the fact that I was having trouble in school I began to hate it. I know before my mom withdrew me from public school I obtained my transcript. Trust me you will need it in the future. I also requested my standaredized test scores. You'll need them to determine the level of classes your going to take. You should also research the diffrent types of homeschooling program. There are several types of homeschooling programs. The homeschooling program I'm a stundent of is Allied National High School. My homeschooling program is virtual. All my work is done via internet. However, I can communicate with my teachers Monday through Friday. Also when researching homeschooling programs, make sure they're accredited in your state. I hope this will help.

Can I homeschool myself online?

To the guy that said you won't get a good education from homeschooling: ...really? Being homeschooled was the best decision for me academically. Courses were harder and more my level and the switch actually made me care about my school work MORE. Stop blaming the other kids? Sometimes, it IS their fault - if the rest of the classroom is boisterous and out-of-hand, there's no way ONE student can learn from a teacher that doesn't know how to handle a classroom.

Yes, it's legal. Different states have different options, but
http://www.connectionsacademy.com/home.a...
is one that I know of that's free for many states, and, to my knowledge, has tuition-based National coverage for the states that don't have a state program yet. (I'm not sure what NaCa costs per-year, but it is an option if it's within your budget.)

There are also...

http://www.k12.com/
but they're only offered in some states.

You can also do Internet searches for online schooling + your state.

How do you homeschool in Egypt? And can I homeschool myself at 13?

Here’s a recent article about a mother in Egypt who is homeschooling. Is homeschooling an alternative to formal education in Egypt? While homeschooling is formally recognized by the state in several countries, this is not the case in Egypt, where parents must either nominally register their child at a local school or register at an international correspondence school. One online school that I can vouch for is Clonlara School. They’re secular and flexible. Students can design their own curriculum to be as rigorous or as flexible as they want. (They’ve been around for 50 years.)Another is Calvert Education. They only have a rigorous approach. They’re also secular though they really grew decades ago by supplying materials to missionary families. (The off campus education was recently spun off from the physical school (Calvert School - Wikipedia) but has been around since 1905.)If you want more choices, you might check the associations those two are accredited by. That way you could find correspondence schools that have the same high standards as those two. Accredited Homeschool - Calvert Education and About Us - Clonlara School.(One note is that there is a large fundamentalist Christian segment homeschooling in the US so a lot of online materials are Christian. They may use different accreditation associations so that may not be a problem. But if the sheer number of them overwhelms your search, you can filter it by using the word “secular”.)

Can I homeschool myself in the UK as a 13 year old?

The only way that would make sense is if you and your parents were confident you could work autonomously (by yourself), were able to source the relevant educational resources for yourself and organize your time efficiently. This is something a homeschooling parent may allow a child to eventually do, once they progress to a level where that parent feels confident enough to step back a bit. However, at 13 years old you would still need a parent to be at home with you to oversee your day…and ensure you were putting enough effort into learning. If you’re actually just hoping to get out of going to school by sitting at home, tapping on Numberjacks maths apps and watching the Magic School Bus all day…think again.Unless your a genius child who needs more than the average adult can teach them…I’d speak to your parents about homeschooling and see if they’re up for supporting you in that.

Legally homeschool myself????

How can I homeschool myself in physics?

I am assuming you will be doing an exam for physics. My brother and I didn’t do our Physics IGCSE (UK 16+ exam) the normal way. We took a short cut. We bought the revision textbook and skimmed through it in two weeks, just to familiarise ourselves with the topics. BTW we’re homeschooled. Then, my dad printed 3 past papers and grouped the questions by topic and we did them by group. For example, we would do the electricity questions then mechanics etc... The 3 one and a half hour papers took us over two weeks. After that, all we did was past papers . At first, we were getting no more than 20%, but our marks rose surprisingly quickly. In the UK students take 2 years studying to do a Physics IGCSE on top of typically 8 years of science and physics before they start their IGCSE. That is what my dad told me. It took us only 5 months from the day we started physics for the first time, and we both got exactly 95%. Only about 6% of people get above 80%, so we probably easily made the top 1%, according to my dad.Good luck! By the way, I don’t even like physics!
