Can I lose 15 pounds in 2 months?

Im 16 years old and im 5'6. I weight about 154 pounds. I want to weight 140 by the end of the summer. I plan on running outdoors for about 30 minutes 3 or 4 times a week. I also plan on eating healthier. I was wondering if this will work. If so? Any tips?

Congratulations on your resolve to lose weight. I know personally, what it is like to lose weight. It is a time consuming experience which requires persistence and diligence. I alone lost 50 pounds from last October till now so I think I could help you answer your question.

I did a ton of research on how to most effectively lose weight when I was on my big weight loss kick, and basically, what you are doing is NOT the most effective way to lose weight... seriously. There is also NO possible way to spot reduce, or to lose fat in a specific area of your body. All you can do is eat healthier and exercise. These are my five tips to a better looking, healthier you:

1. Drink half your weight in ounces of water, per day.
2. Get your daily source of calcium.
3. Eat whole/fresh foods, staying around 2,000 calories a day. Generally, however, when you eat whole/fresh foods you don't need to worry about calorie counting.
4. Exercise 30-40 min. of intense cardio 4-5 days a week (Reading is a life saver when you are on a machine).
5. Weightlifting and strength training 30min - 1 hour 4-5 days a week (Create multiple music playlists to listen to).

Because you are limiting your caloric intake so severely (only 500 a day!?), you are more than likely putting your body in starvation mode, which will cause it to store everything you consume as fat. Sure, you will lose weight, but it won't be fat, it will be bone, muscle, and fat.

However, because you want to lose it in one month, I have one final suggestion: That is the Atkins diet. With the Atkins diet you are not limiting how much you eat, but what you eat. You cannot eat any carbs, but can eat as much protein and fat as you want. What this does is put your body in a state of "Ketosis," when your body is basically burning just your body fat and nothing else to keep you energized. On this diet you could lose up to 10 pounds a week. However, when you are done losing the weight, make sure you SLOWLY introduce carbs back into your diet, and start an exercise routine as well or you will gain it all back in no time.

I didn't go on the atkins diet because it was a little to difficult for me to follow, but it works none the less. Happy weight loss!!

Drink green tea or water and lemon in the morning. that will fasten your metabolism. and yes jog everyday and eat healthier. Cut down sugars and carbs. Eat veggies and meat. Do not fry anything. Try grilling or in the oven! Good luck

You're not eating enough and your body is storing fat. You have to start the fire in the morning (which you're doing) and keep it burning all day. Right now your throwing some wood on and letting it smolder until the afternoon...

Try to eat every 2-3 hours. A yogurt, some almonds, fruit, cottage cheese, etc. At dinner time have some protein - fish, chicken and some veggies. Don't eat before bed and remember to drink lots of water.

For exercise take the stairs when possible, if you catch the bus walk to the next stop past yours to catch it, put some music on your iPod and take a walk before bed.

It's really not that hard, it just takes discipline. Get a little book and set some goals. Track your progress. Make it like a game.

Is it possible to lose 65 pounds in 2 months?

It TECHNICALLY is possible and i hate to dash your spirits but I'd say 65lbs in 4-5monthes would be a much more obtainable goal, though still challenging. You have to be careful because once you get to your goal weight and if you try eating "normally" again all the weight will pile back on :( so here's my advice.

For the next 2 weeks i want you to go on a 15 min walk everyday. Try your best to cut out as much junk food as possible. 3 days a week do 15 min of cardio (jump rope, jogg, jumping jacks, etc)

Now those 2 weeks ^^^ are kinda the "trial" weeks to get your body use to eating better and a little exercise :)

But now it's time to kick it up a notch! A 30 min walk every day. 3 days a week 20-25 min of cardio. 2 days a week do toning (lunges, crunches, pushups, sqats) So you have 2 days off a week, but you still need to go on your walk these days.It is VITAL that you take out junkfood! I suggest 5 small MEALS not snacks a day. About 250 cal max per meal. They need to be packed with protein and fiber to give you energy to workout :) Water is your new best friend, got it? Good. Soda contains ingredients that actually can bloat your stomache without you realizing it.

When the walk becomes to easy turn it into a jog :)
When the toning gets easier add more
Cardio is always going to be hard
And the eating it going to be near impossible :(

But I have faith in you and everybody who want to lose weight =) It will be physically,mentally, emotionally exhausting but you will feel healthier, happier, and more confident! And nobody said it would be easy :/ It's tough and it controls every aspect of your life but its time to make a change and im proud of you for wanting to.

How can a teenager lose 30 pounds in 3-4 months?

Oh I'm sorry you aren't seeing any results. I like the idea of talking to your doctor that might help a lot. But I think you should exercise more. I run 30 minutes a day... do 120 bicycle crunches, 120 sit-ups and 50 leg lifts. That lost a lot of weight for me but I also play sports 3-5 times a week. I think sports are one of the funnest ways to loose weight and it's more of a commitment so you can't just give up you also get to know a lot of new people. But if team sports aren't your thing, you could join a gym and sign up for yoga or spin classes and try something new. I know my friend lost a lot of weight with Zumba classes. You could subscribe to a fitness magazine or something. It helped me to surround myself with 'thinspiration' and remind me constantly of my goals. It made me work harder and see more results.
