Can I Master In Something I Didnt Major In

Can a master gunnery sergeant become sergeant major of the marine corps?

A Master Guns is an E-9. The Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps is an E-9. By the RULES, yes, any E-9 could fill the billet.

However, we now get into practicality. History has shown that once E-9's get the job, those slated to go "higher" in responsibility are always picked from the Sergeant Major ranks - you go from a tour as a Master Guns to a tour as a Sergeant Major of a minor unit - to a larger unit - to a big unit - to a huge unit - to the entire Marine Corps.

I don't want ANYONE to think that I'm dissing the folks that hold that rank, but a Master Guns is a "worker bee" - and not a "leader". They fill staff jobs and do a VERY good job of being a MANAGER. Sergeants Major are LEADERS - not managers.

Brian Raini

My friend didn't major in computer science, but is very interested in it. He cofounded the Bay Area TopCoders. He has a 3.4 GPA from the University of Maryland in English & business. His GRE scores are high. Where should he apply for a Master's?

To elaborate on the "why" question - what is he trying to accomplish? If he is planning to pursue a career in CS, he will need to pick up core CS background. This can be done while pursuing an MS degree (but he won't get into a great university without a good track record), or as preparation. Taking core CS courses on Coursera or Udacity is a good start, but he may also enroll as a non-degree student at some good university and obtain some really good grades. If he is planning to learn some CS but not deeply enough to support a career, consider "soft CS" programs, such as those in Information Science or Information Technology. They tend to be high-level and require only moderate technical background, while focusing on very interesting applications, such as social networks and natural language processing. In any case, a credible application should show some individual coding experience, creativity, and favorable comparisons to peers.

How do you unlock the master criminal achievement on skyrim on xbox360?

I had the same problem for a while, until I check my stats and something didn't add up. So I experimented and found out something curious.

Try killing someone just outside of Windhelm, for some reason inside the city doesn't count as a part of that hold???? No problem in the other cities though, just Windhelm.

The Holds are not named after the cities. Look in your criminal stats screen to see your bounty in each of the holds.

Haafingar - Solitude
The Reach - Markarth
Falkreath Hold - Flakreath
Whiterun Hold - Whiterun
Hjalmarch - Morthal
Rift - Riften
Whiteshore (The Pale) - Dawnstar
Winterhold - Winterhold
Eastmarch - Windhelm (It's right on the border with Winterhold, might be the reason for this glitch I just went out the main gate and killed a gaurd there and it counted as a Eastmarch crime.)

EDIT: OK, oversight, some of the Holds are named after the cities, but it could also be that the city is named after the hold?! *lol*

Does a Master's degree worth the trouble?

A masters in what? Some are very employable, some aren't employable at all. Don't bother with a degree unless you know exactly how you'll use it, and plan to pay it off.

What's the average shortest amount of time you can get your master's degree in?

I understand that summer school is a great option, and I think I'll take it. I plan to long term travel, but I refuse to do so until after completing my degree, because I fear if I don't then I might not go back to school. So what's the shortest time, and about how many courses would you have to take per semester? I don't have any particular degree in mind, which is why this is a big guesstimate. Also, whens the earliest I can start college? If I completely finish High School. Thanks!

Could I pursue a master's degree in economics, even though my BA is in history and political science?

If you want a Masters degree in Econ, you need to have a quantitative background, i.e, Math/CS/Physics/Engineering, or an econ degree. You definitely will not be considered without undergrad econ coursework.
