Can I Name My Story After The Main Character

Can you write a story and never give the main character's name? What if it's revealed later rather in the beginning?

He was standing beside me by the gate of the crowded train. His face reminded me of the anguish I go through daily. My little daughter crushed beneath his wheels. She was playing in her locality when an over speeding car caused her to meet her doom. I couldn't save her. The car never stopped. I could only catch the glimpse of the driver. He escaped without any trouble. Nobody could identify him. No one knew his name. The police couldn't find the car. Justice to my daughter deprived. Now I see him again just a few inches away. The lust of revenge is tempting. A simple push and no one would notice and my revenge would be sought .And I did exactly that. The newspaper next day confirmed this accidental death and at last I got to know his name. Now I see him again. In a dark, desolated lane. His steps unsteady. Smell of alcohol dripping from his body. But how can he be walking? I killed him last week. I can't take chances. An iron rod to his head to eliminate him. At last I have had my revenge. The next morning the newspaper confirmed this death but this time with a different name. Now I see him again standing on the foot end of the barren roof. Breeze of wind brushing his hair, blowing sand and dust particles collected from the under constructed roof. His clothes resemble that of a construction worker now. How could he have been behind the wheel of a Honda City that day? Why do these all faces look the same? Or is it me who is trying to find all that I can kill as same? The answer is unknown, but the result was the same. The name was a different again.I don't know how many more I have to kill to avenge? How much more blood need to be shed to be sure? How many more same faces to pay the price? I would eradicate whenever I would find one. I would go to the extent that the numbers of these faces are left none.I will play with all I have to win this revengeful game.I agree,The task would have been simpler If only I would have known HIS NAME.

Can I have the same character with two names in a story?

You can do whatever you want with your book and your characters. Don't ever think, "My readers will be confused by this, so I shouldn't include it," as it will never help you to become a better writer. Sometimes the best books need to be read a couple times to be completely understood anyway. A character having two names is no big deal, especially if the story is told in first-person (even if it's not, it's not hard to put two and two together). It's not hard to remember, "Oh, this guy's name is actually Jack, but others know him as Pat." If that's your character's choice, stick with it, because that is your character's choice. Your readers should be smart enough to know that.

Can the main character be the narrator?

yeh its certainly fine. I'm a young "writer" my self (I write stories and draw comics-none published) im only 12 so...yeh. that'd be just fine. sometimes i think of my stories as moves too- no need to be embarrassed. lol.

Can you give me ideas for the main character's name in my fantasy series?

Thousands of places to find names: college year-books, names from theater program books, movie credits, phone books, baby name books (works for first names rather than last, unless you give your character a surname that is also a first name). Play with the name a little. Consider the name Douglas. You might like this name just as it is, but to give it a little pizzazz, you might transform it to Dougalis if your setting is an alternative time-line. Call him Dougs for a nickname. If you want a plain name (e. g. Robin Grant), go with it. You can always change the name later, but do it before you get too attached, for you’ll reach a point where you’ll find it hard to make the changes after working w/ a character for a while. Sometimes names come late, maybe halfway through the story. Then you’ll find one that suits, and your character will “tell” you “This fits. I like it.” What that really comes from is your storehouse of knowledge about that character, because you’ve thought about that character a lot, and know that character, boiled all the disparate facts about the character into a living personality. That’s when the character “comes to life.”Think about your character, and figure what their most defining characteristics might be. Is she cynical? Trusting? Bold or frightened? Is he (or she) rich, poor or mid-level? Is he a space cowboy? Is Robin a female lawyer who takes pro bono cases for a favored cause? Is she an adult? Or a child? Build his family, friends, and approach to life. Does she live in a small town, a different planet, or a large city in China? Was he born in the 19th, the 21st, or the 25th century? These details (and the story itself) will be what gives the character name real power.

What's the word for a book that's named after its main character?

I'm trying to compare two texts for my coursework, and mentioning the protagonists' names in each novel. Writing "David Copperfield, the protagonist in the novel, David Copperfield" sounds a bit stupid.

Is there a specific word?

Is it wrong to name your main character your own name?

it's not wrong, just not very creative most of the time.

but the way you made "MIA" into Missing In Action, it makes it creative... it just depends on WHY you want that to be the name...

Making stories - help with characters' names and surnames?

I really need help with this. I have 2 sub-characters which are related in family to the main hero,(I haven't name the character yet) of my adventure story. The sub-characters' names are Hipter and Hermia, (are these names ok?) Hipter is dark magicain grandfather of the hero wishes to first kill the hero but at the end, he tries to kill all of his family, which makes him the main evil villian of the adventure. Hermia is the caring mother of the hero, who runs away to escape from her father, Hipter so that she can care for the hero.

The problem is, I don't know what to call the sub-characters' surnames or names, (I'm not sure that their names' are ok.) Can someone help with these names please, try to make them exotric(sp?) names. And also, please note that I don't need help with the hero's name as I'll make one over time, thank-you.
