According to SEBI (Securities and Exchange Board of India) rules, you can still open a Demat account, but it would need to be operated by a guardian, till you become a major (complete 18 years of age). The guardian could be either one of the parents, or in the absence of both, a guardian can be appointed by the court. The basic documents you need to open a Demat account are:Aadhar cardPAN cardResidential proofProof of bank account (cancelled cheques)3 passport size photographsAs a student, you might still be inexperienced when it comes to the working of the stock market. Although you can make a proper study and research of the market on your own, doing the actual trading will always be a different experience. I suggest that in the initial stage, you take the help of financial experts such as stockbrokers who can guide you to make the investments in the right direction. Once you gain enough experience and get a regular source of income, you can start trading on your own.Click here to Open Demat Account Online with Angel Broking and get 20% off on brokerage charges for all your online transactions.

What age do you need to be to open a BB&T student account?

I would like to open an account but I'm only 17 right now, would I be able to open an account by myself at a branch being 17. Or will I need a parent to co-sign?

Also, if I end up needing a parent to co-sign will the account be jointly owned between me and them? Or will it be MY account, they just need to sign to let me open it?

Thanks :)

Can I open a US bank account as an international student?

Yes, you sure can. No one can lug around loads of cash for every day expenses. In fact, it can be dangerous, so don't.You'll need a valid ID (passport will do), a proof of your visa/I-20, and some cash to deposit (obviously). The rules may vary slightly from bank-to-bank. Some banks even offer student accounts (these have laxer rules in terms of minimum account balance and other such things). Most banks will let you open a debit and a savings account. If you want to open a credit account, meaning you want to apply for a credit card, you'll need to produce proof of income and also have a social security number. As a student, you can work on-campus. The human resources of the university will then put you on a payroll and provide you with the required documents to apply for a SSN and a credit card.It is wise to have a SSN and a credit card because it helps in building a credit history.
