Can I Out Flea Medication On My Ankles

Can I put flea medication on my cat places other than between her shoulder blades?

it may be nice, only make effective your cat does not lick the section (that's why that's assume to bypass between the shoulder blades, when you consider that they won't be able to attain there) because of the fact the product dries. I swear I consistently get some on my arms as quickly as I carry on with flea treatment, even though it by no capability takes faraway from the effectiveness of the product. only be effective to bathe your arms properly.

I put dog flea medication on my cat...?

Take your cat to a different vet.

The flea medication for dogs is usually stronger and a higher dosage than cat flea medications as dogs are generally larger than kittens with more surface area (skin).

My mum accidentally put dog flea stuff on my cats once (they were a few years old) and while it didn't seem to harm them, it made their necks very very very itchy for about a week. The would walk along the walls with the backs of their necks on them (or walk with their head on the ground upside down -- hard to imagine, very awkward looking to watch) to try to scratch it. Trying to wash it off didn't help as it had already started to soak in, we just had to help our cats bear through it as best they could.

Until you can get to a vet (because you HAVE to find someone that will treat him) keep him in a cool place (NOT FREEZING as this can cause his body to go into shock) and feed him cooler (not cold) water with an oral syringe (you can get them from any chemist for children's medication).

Your kitten most likely will not live without veterinary attention.

Most vets won't ask for payment before they sort them out (at least in Australia they never do) it's always worked out after. If all else fails don't tell the vet you don't have the money, let them realise it after they have helped you cat.

How can a vet ask for payment for treatment that hasn't been given yet, when they don't even yet know how much it will cost and what they will need to do specifically for your kitten to help him?

You can probably report that vet to the veterinary board (or similar) in your country.

Is it safe to wear flea/tick collars on one's ankles and wrists?

According to NIH MSDS data, most pet flea/tick collars use Propoxur, which is an irritant to humans and can be harmful with prolonged contact.

You might want to look into Permethrin instead, which is marketed for human use on treated objects (not recommended for application directly to skin). It is a combination repellent and insecticide that is applied to clothing, socks, boots, hat, buff, etc and allowed to dry, then lasts for 4 weeks or 4 to 8 washings. Permethrin kills ticks on contact, as well as many other insects, and also repels mosquitoes, biting flies, gnats, moths, etc...

The only problem with Permethrin is that it is toxic to fish and cats, so be extremely careful where you spray clothing with Permethrin. After the Permethrin dries thoroughly there is less a problem with cats, but I still keep treated clothing and gear out of their way.

Permethrin is the active ingredient in many dog flea and tick sprays, drops and shampoos, as well as being used extensively for agriculture, livestock, residential and commercial indoor/outdoor insect control.

Is it ok to put the flea medicine on my dog?

After her bath her pores should have had time to close by now, please note that either way however flea medicine is very very hard on your dogs body, because its basically poison going into their blood stream to kill the fleas.

Can too much flea medicine kill a dog?

Most over the counter medications or cheap store brought medications like Hartz and Sergents are known to cause severe pain and discomfort in dogs and can kill or cause life-threatening complications.

Take this animal to the Vet for a check-up, more then likely the cheap, store brought garbage you put on the poor animal is causing it some type of adverse allergic reaction. Don't touch the animal, get the dog to a Vet.

Yes, to much flea medication CAN and WILL kill this animal if it's applied too much. There are weight limits or size limits on most, if not all flea products and if you have given this small breed dog medication that is not standard or formulated to his acquired weight then you've probably overdosed the dog.

Get this animal to a Vet. Flea medication is POISON and giving your dog to much can poison him.

Flea bites everywhere, on ankles?

We had a bad infestation in our basement and we have 3 cats too. I bought like 7 containers of the basic flee carpet killer and i used 2x of the recommend dose and left it for 24 hours. Even in our basement where we had only 1/2 carpet it worked really good. My cats still have them lightly but i haven't got bit since. It may not be safe but it worked for us and it was cheep! I'm sure it would work by the recommend dose but i was desperate. And what is weird about it all is I was the only one in the house getting eaten up and the others never really got bit so much. Its like they pick favorites. They are terrible creatures!
Hope that helps.

Oh yeah, i got the carpet stuff at walmart... It was like gold-something. It smelled like citrus. =)

no, if the dogs are treated for fleas. there is a tablet for dogs that kills fleas and provide protection from getting more fleas. Ask a vet. It is important to wash any bedding or rugs/carpets after treatment. My dogs sleep in my bed and rarely get fleas and I don’t get bitten by fleas.Looking in the dog’s hair, on their belly, in their ‘armpits’ you might see a flea. Fleas can drive a dog to despair and cause cuts from scratching so it is very important to eradicate them. I wash my dogs monthly in flea or medicated shampoo as well. Also there are some spot flea treatments that will kill not only fleas on the dog but in their bedding and kennels as well. Get advice from a vet. Wash the dog’s bedding regularly and clean the kennel if the dog has one. That is basic housekeeping. Also a house can have fleas even without any pets living there. And there are cat fleas.I personally would not bother with flea collars. I would use the monthly tablet or spot treatment. A flea can live for six months so whatever you do keep it up for a six months to a year to rid your house of any baby fleas.Fleas also live in the outdoors, so depending on your area you may have to be more diligent with checking your pets and applying treatments. Maybe your neighbours have fleas and the little pests end up in your house.Check your dog regularly, apply treatments, wash bedding, do not kick the dog out of your bed or banish him or her outside, wash your dog (but do not overdo it or it might get dry skin from shampoos), put eucalyptus or lavender oil in the final rinse (keep out of eyes}, vacuum your house often.Fleas sometimes go for old or sick animals because they can’t scratch them off, so be very watchful of these type of animals.

Overwhelming flea infestation paranoia?

it does sound like fleas!!! they are nasty buggers and SO HARD TO GET RID OF. you need to ask that lady if she uses flea medication on her dog. you need to have your dad look at the dog go through its fur and see if it has fleas. if the dog does have fleas you need to bomb your house with raid!!! fleas multiply like crazy you may need to call an exterminator. i lived in a house the same situation as you and they ate me up i couldnt stop itching the bites and now i have scars on my ankles and bottom legs. i hope i helped you need to kills the fleas asap like i said they multiply like crazy and they are tiny and they jump; ughhh it is making me itch just thinking about it. good luck and god bless.

Ask your veterinarian if what you have for your cat is safe to use on your dog at the same dose. Generally, the products made for cats are packaged as a smaller dose, so they may not be effective on dogs. Although some products are made to be used on cats or dogs, it’s important to know the dose, and make sure you can use the product interchangeably. Some ingredients in products made for dog flea and tick prevention are toxic to cats.
